Imagine.... 😈💞👿

Three days. Three excruciatingly long days of waiting. Waiting for that call from Jeremiah to confirm he was okay. Your mind was on overdrive just thinking of all the possible ways this could go wrong. He wanted you nowhere near his brother, that was certain. But you had no intentions on waiting in the wings of this grand show Jerome has concocted from his sick, twisted mind. You were tired of the games. Tired of being put in the dark. Jeremiah was your best friend and you hated knowing he was suffering all alone, just to keep you safe. But at what cost? What had Jerome done? This thought alone, scared you to no end. And when Jeremiah finally did call, he sounded eerily calm. No sign of any kind of emotion in his tone. He was void of it. So monotone. But once you had reached where you so longingly waited for him to meet you, your eyes were filled with a sight so horrific and unbelievable that you didn't understand. Jerome.... was dead. Stone cold dead. No sign of any kind of life coming from him. Only a smile etched on his face.

"(Y/N). I'm glad you came." You about jumped out of your own skin from the sudden closeness of Jeremiah to you, his hands landing firmly on your shoulders to turn you towards him. Your eyes widened just from looking at his face. Something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong.

"Jeremiah... what's happened?! Did you...." Your eyes slowly started to travel back to Jerome laying peacefully in the grave behind you, before Jeremiah's hand jerked your head back towards him, startling you from the firmness of his cold touch.

"Kill him? Yes.... Are you really that surprised? Did you expect a different outcome?" His hard eyes bore into yours with a hint of anger and annoyance that you could even think any different of him. But you knew this wasn't Jeremiah. His once calm demeanor was replaced with a rigged and cold stare. No sign of him in sight.

"Jeremiah.... we could have figured out another way. If you had just let me help you. What did he do to you....?" Suddenly, he started to clear his face of what he wanted to keep hidden, revealing the pure whiteness of his face. He looked like a ghost. A former shell if you will. You couldn't help but cover your mouth. Jerome had done it. He really did it. That toxin he was rumored to have created, he did it. He still won.... but Jeremiah won't admit that. Because Jeremiah isn't here anymore.

"Jerome was merely a start to what was truly supposed to come for Gotham. I'm the supreme one here. Not him!! And they will all know that. They already do. I'm the last one standing. Aren't I?" He gazed at you with a sudden smirk filling his lips, causing your heart to race so quickly from the rush of emotions consuming you. Your best friend.... was gone, replaced with a pure evil genius. Just like his brother that he had tried so hard to escape. And you knew deep down in your heart, that this was only the beginning.
