The entire vanar contingent had reached the southern shores of Bharatvarsh. They had set up their camps, and now the question in front of them was how they shall cross 100 Yojans across the ocean with the entire army.

But Shri Ram was optimistic, he knew help would come somehow. They had reached till the shores, they will indeed reach Lanka as well.

"Bhaiya, sagar ko paar kaise karenge ?" Lakshman asked, sitting beside Shri Ram holding flowers in his hand.

"Kar lenge. Jab Mahadev saath hai toh bhaye kaisa ?" Shri Ram said as he sculpted a Shivling.

He then took th flowers from Lakshman's hand and offered it to the shivling. Both the brothers bowed down to it and prayed.

"Mere dwara sthapit kiya yeh Shivling Rameshwaram naam se prasiddh hoga. Jo bhi vyakti yaha Gangajal laake iss Shivling ka abhishek karega usko mrityu upraant mera sanidhya praapt hoga." Shri Ram said with a smile.

In Kailash, a pleasant smile was adorning the face of Mahadev at the establishment of Rameshwaram.

"Prabhu, Rameshwar arthat ?" Mata Parvati asked.

"Ram jiske Ishwar, woh Rameshwar." Mahadev smiled.

The same question was asked by Lakshman to Shri Ram.

"Bhaiya, Rameshwar arthat ?" He asked.

"Jo Ram ke Ishwar, woh Rameshwar." Shri Ram smiled.

He looked at the Shivling and joined his hands, once again praying for the lord of the universe to ensure his victory and show him a way.

"Lakshman, bas ek baar mujhe Sita mil jaaye, toh uske saath punah laut ke Rameshwaram ling ki vidhi poorn puja karunga. Bas Mahadev maarg dikha de." He said.

"Pranaam, Shri Ram aur Lakshman." By then Hanuman came towards the brothers.

"Kahiye Hanuman ?" Lakshman asked.

"Ravan ka chhota bhai Vibhishan kuch saathiyo ke saath padhara hai. Sugreev aapse iss vishaye mei baat karna chahte hai." Hanuman said.

"Uchit hai." Shri Ram said.

Both the brothers stood up and went straight to the Vanar camps with Hanuman following them behind. They could see the atmosphere was that of great wary.

Shri Ram sat down and Sugreev told him everything about how Vibhishan left Ravan and came here seeking refuge of his. The son of Kaushalya listened to him patiently and gave a lot of thought to the matter.

"Aap sabhi ne Sugreev ke avlokan ko suna. Apne hiteshiyo ka paramarsh aur vichaar jaanna awashyak hota hai jab sandeh ki paristhiti ho. Mai aap sabhi ka paramarsh sunna chahta hu. Batayiye, hume kya karna chahiye ?" Shri Ram addressed the Vanaras sitting there, who were felt gratified at this.

"Chuki Vibhishan shatru paksh se aye hai, hum aise hi unn par vishwas nahi kar sakte. Kuch log apne vastavik aashaye ko chhupane mei parangat hote hai. Hume yeh dekhna chahiye ki Vibhishan se hume kya prapt ho sakta hai. Yadi unke gun humare karya mei sahayata kare toh hum unhe swikaar kare. Kintu yadi unke lakshan thik nahi toh hum unse dur rahe." Angad said.

"Hume ek guptchar nyukt karna chahiye, jo Vibhishan aur uske karmo par drishti rakhe. Hume jo bhi pata chalega, hum fir nirnaye lenge ki kya karna chahiye." Sharabh, another Vanar chief said.

"Ravan ne humse shatruta ki hai aur woh atyant chatur bhi hai. Vibhishan Ravan ke paksh se aya hai, aur aane ka samaye aur sthaan mujhe sandeh mei daal rahe hai. Hume satark rehna chahiye." Jambuvant said.

"Hume chaturai se Vibhishan ke aashaye jaanne ka prayas karna chahiye. Mithi vaani aur shabdo se uska vishwas jeet, uske satya ko pata lagana chahiye. Fir hum yeh nirnaye lenge ki uske swikarna hai ki nahi." Another vanar named Maind gave his diplomatic intellect.

Lastly Hanuman, who remained quite till now stood up to speak.

"Isse pehle Mai apna mat rakhu, mai yeh keh deta hu ki Mera aashaye kisi ko nicha dikhane ka nahi hai. Mai apna vichaar prastut kar raha hu aur kisi anya ke paramarsh ko galat thehrane ki niyat meri nahi. Mere anusaar hum Vibhishan ki pariksha nahi le sakte, yeh mujhe uchit nahi lag raha. Vibhishan ka satya tab hi prakat hoga jab hum use swikaar kar use koi karya de. Unke piche guptchar rakhna iss samaye sambhav nahi jab woh pehle se yaha hai." Hanuman said.

He paused for a moment and then continued, "Mai yeh maanta hu ki unke aane ka samaye sandeh poorn hai, kintu unke aane ka karan nahi. Vibhishan ne spasht roop se kaha hai ki woh apne dusht bhrata ka tyaag kar, dharm ke paksh mei aaye hai. Yeh nirnaye lene ka isse uttam samaye koi nahi. Yadi hum unse prashn kare ya guptchar rakhe, toh ho sakta hai yeh Vibhishan ko apmaanit karde aur hum ek mahatwapurn saathi kho de. Yeh satya hai ki kisi ka aashaye jaanna kathin karya hai lekin ek buddhiman vyakti saamne waale ka satya uske vachan, vaani aur aacharan se samajh jata hai. Kadachit Vibhishan ne yaha aane ka nirnaye Shri Ram ke parakram ko jaan ke liya hai." Hanuman said.

Shri Ram pondered over it for a while before he kept his view.

"Vibhishan yaha meri sharan mei aya hai, toh bhale yeh anuchit lage, kintu mujhe use sharan deni chahiye." Shri Ram said.

So the story of Rameshwaram, doesn't appear in Valmiki Ramayan, it is a Pauranik katha.

And there are several versions as to why Shri Ram establishes it, most of them claiming he establishes it after Yudh, to repent the sin of Brahmahatya because he killed Ravan.

As per Valmiki Ramayan, Shri Ram doesn't repent. You only think, Ravan was just born through a Brahmin, but he never did anything that befits that of a Brahmin. He was a king, this makes him a Kshatriya.

But if we look into it from the system of Varna, then the bad deeds of Ravan would throw him out of the construct and make him Avarna.

Also in a war I don't think, your varna would matter. Even Dronacharya was killed, weapons were raised at Ashwathama also....

So I don't think, killing a Brahmin in a war, is brahm-hatya. Brahm-hatya could be that you killed a Brahmin without any justified reason. But war is a very well justified reason to kill anyone.

Anyway, but in Adhyatma Ramayan attributed to yours truly *coughs* I mean attributed to Ved Vyas claims that Shri Ram established the shivling before construction of the bridge.

So that's what I'm using here... Also it has a plot reason 🌝🌝✨✨
