It had been ten thousand years, Shri Ram performed the ashwamedh as well as ten times as many vaajapeyas, in which there was a distribution of much gold.

Shri Ram offered the agnistoma and the atiraatra, as well as the gosava rites, at which great wealth was distributed, and other rites as well, accompanied by ample sacrificial fees. And in this way a very long time passed while great Raghav ruled the kingdom, exerting himself in righteousness.

The Vanars and rakshasas remained under Shri Ram rule, and the kings were devoted to him, day in and day out. Indra brought the rains at the proper time, there was abundant food, and the directions were pellucid.

A long time had passed, Shri Ram’s illustrious mother Kaushalya, surrounded by her sons and grandsons, succumbed to the law of time. Sumitra followed her, as did illustrious Kaikeyi.

All of them were established in heaven, and, once reunited with King Dashrath, those fortunate women resumed their wifely duties.

Time after time Shri Ram gave generous donations to brahman ascetics on behalf of his mothers, without distinction. He made offerings of many precious things to his ancestors and performed supremely excellent sacrifices, thus gratifying his ancestors and the gods.

With time, Taksh and Pushkar, on advice of Yudhajeet, the brother of Kaikeyi, with permission of Shri Ram, and with their father Bharat on their forefront went to the Gandharva kingdom on the banks of Sindhu and conquered them.

Taksh and Pushkar established two beautiful cities Takshashila and Pushkaravti, respectively. Within five years, the lovely kingdom of the gandharvas, came to be known as Gandhar.

They was filled with provinces and their inhabitants. Both cities were filled with masses of wealth and jewels and were adorned with parklands.

When Bharat returned to Ayodhya after five years of establishing the cities, and leaving the kingdom under the care of his son's, Shri Ram was extremely delighted.

He felt that the sons of Lakshman, Angad and Chandraketu, who were well versed in righteousness, were powerful bowmen and fit for kingship. He wished to consecrate these two as kings.

Bharat advised conquer the country of Karapath and let a city for Angad be established there as well as a lovely and salubrious one called Chandrakanta for Chandraketu.

And so Shri Ram conquered that kingdom and established a city for Angad. And so for Angada, Shri Ram tireless in action, established and carefully guarded the delightful and charming city of Angadiya.

And in the land of Malla, Shri Ram established, for the immensely powerful Chandraketu, the renowned and heavenly city of Chandrakanta, which was like the city of heaven.

And so, in this fashion, ten thousand
years passed by, while Shri Ram, Bharat and Lakshman constantly exerted themselves in righteousness and in their duties to the populace.

Having passed the time with contented
hearts, they were enveloped in prosperity and fixed on the supreme path of righteousness.

The city and the countryside were filled with happy and well-nourished people. While Shri Ram was ruling the kingdom, no one suffered an untimely death, nor at that time did illness afflict any living creature, nor was there any breach of righteousness.

Now after some time, during which Shri Ram was steadfast in the path of righteousness, Kaal, in the form of an ascetic, arrived at the his gateway.

"Mujhe Shri Ram se milna hai. Mai yaha atyant awashyak aur divya udeshya se aya hu." Kaal said to Lakshman.

"Awashya." The Soumitri nodded, he immediately rushed to inform Shri Ram that an ascetic had something he wished to communicate.

"Unhe samman sahit andar laao." Shri Ram said.

And hence Lakshman brought in Kaal, who was shining with his radiant energy and was blazing, as it were, with rays of light. Kaal approached Shri Ram who was shining with his own blazing energy.

Shri Ram honored him and gave him the guest-offering, and then began to inquire about his undisturbed well-being. When Kaal, who was in the guise of a sage, had been asked by Rāma about his well-being, he sat down upon a heavenly seat of gold.

"Batayiye, kya kehna chaahte hai aap ?" Shri Ram asked.

"Mai aapse Jo kehna chaahta hu woh atyant gupt rehna chahiye. Iss liye Raghav, jo bhi humari baat sunle ya hume samvaad karte huye dekh le, aap use mrityu dand de." Kaal said.

"Toh aisa hi hoga." Shri Ram said and the looked at Lakshman, "Anuj, bahar khade huye das-dasi aur dwarpalo ko hata do, aur swayam khade hoke pehra do. Koi andar aane na paaye." He said.

"Jo aagya." Lakshman nodded.
