HAUNTED
୨⎯ chapter four ⎯୧

Bianca woke up with the biggest headache she's ever had in her entire life.

it didn't make it any better when someone opened up the blinds letting all the sunlight shine brightly through and inside of the room hitting her face harshly. bianca was uncomfortable in her dress and wondered how the hell did she end up in her bed in one piece.

"oh good, you're awake." bianca frowned her eyebrows when steven entered the room with a glass of water and a bottle of aspirin. "don't be so confused you're the one that wanted me here."

"what?" bianca shot up in her bed. she lifted up her blanket to see if she still had everything on. she did. bianca dropped her blanket and glared over at steven who held a smug look. "steven."

"steven? i thought i was stevie. you haven't called me that since we were what, fourteen?" steven teased opening up the bottle of aspirin and taking out two pills handing them over to bianca.

bianca shook her head not taking the pills. "i can't swallow pills you know that." she grumbled throwing herself back down to her bed and covering her head with her blanket. steven chuckled, obviously knowing already, and took out the spoon and he brought from the kitchen and started smashing them up. "did i do anything last night? wait, we're there cops last night or did i imagine that?"

"no you didn't. there were cops last nights and my mom got us all in trouble expect you because you were too drunk and you were just whining a lot. here." steven said chuckling. bianca groaned peeking her head from her blanket to see steven holding out the spoon with the crushed pills. bianca then leaned up and grabbed the water bottle and went to grab the spoon but steven leaned back. bianca rolled her eyes not about to argue with him. steven placed the spoon inside of her mouth and bianca quickly drank her water and swallowed.

"thanks." bianca said putting the water bottle back on her night desk. she thought back to last night trying to remember a few snips of it. she remembers the amount of beers, the skinny dipping that she never did, conrad starting a fight, the cops, steven helping her out, laurel talking, laurel telling them to bring her to bed, steven took her to bed and- "oh fuck."

"what?" steven asked in alarm.

bianca then locked eyes with steven and grimaced. "oh fuck me!" bianca groaned and stood up from her bed - bad idea because she got extremely dizzy but ignored it - and put her hands on his arm pushing it lightly. "get out. away. go away. i'm a girl with needs and need to do stuff. out. out. thanks for taking care of me. bye bye."

bianca slammed the door on the face of a very confused steven conklin. she definitely regrets it. he thought sighing deeply and heading down stairs leaving bianca hoping that the floor would open up and swallow her. she remembers clinging onto steven and calling him stevie, a nickname that he only lets her call him. she remembers telling him to stay, that she was tired almost confessing what she actually felt.

she remembers him staying and both of them falling asleep into each others arms. if this was under any other circumstances she wouldn't jumped up and down and squealed and she would be the happiest sixteen year old in the world. but she wasn't. because she doesn't even remember how it feels to be in his arms. she doesn't remember even being there. mentally she wasn't there, physically she was.

bianca dragged herself to her bathroom, peeled off her dress and hopped inside of the shower taking a long steamy shower. when she got out of the shower, she washed her face and brushed her teeth before heading back out. she put on a white bikini before putting on her outfit. a pair of blue jeans that were worn off by the bottom and a white long sleeve square crop top.

she ripped off the hair ties that held her two ponytails and just let her hair be free. she put on deodorant, sprayed perfume and put on her high top plat form converse before heading downstairs where everyone was at. everyone being jeremiah, steven, leo and laurel. belly, conrad, susannah and lena no where it be found.

"good morning." bianca said as sweet as she can wanting to suck up to laurel. bianca still had her massive headache but she brushed it off as she walked slowly over to laurel who squinted her eyes at bianca.

"morning, bianca." laurel said and laughed when bianca hugged her and kissed her cheek. bianca stayed hugging laurel which the woman didn't mind but she knew why bianca was doing it. "i'm not mad bianca. you're mom doesn't know but," laurel tilted her head to the side to be able to be eye to eye with bianca, "don't ever, please don't ever, drink that much again."

"i promise." bianca whispered to her kissing her on the cheek once more before saying, "i love you laurel!"

"mhm. also, susannah wants to pain a portrait of you later on so when she calls you wear something elegant." laurel said as bianca walked over to the living room where conrad was found. bianca hummed nodding her head at laurel and dropped to the floor in front of the conrad.

"hey babysitter." bianca teased which only earned a groan from conrad. "i'll give you a five star review on yelp."

"i liked you better when you were drunk and didn't talk." conrad mumbled scooting away from the edge giving space for bianca. the wayne girl chuckled and grunted standing up from the ground and laying down on the couch besides him. bianca laid on her stomach, her arm dangling from her side and her cheek pressed on the pillow.

the sudden sound of the blender machine startled the two hungover teens. "just sit for your portraits, i don't see conrad or bianca complaining." laurel said as jeremiah and steven kept on complaining about the portraits. the blender stopped which they were thankful for.

"yeah well, they'll start complaining when their both conscious." jeremiah said walking over to conrad and bianca. he slapped conrad's forearm. "here. drink it. bianca, here."

bianca peeled her eyes open and jeremiah was holding a nasty looking drink on his hand. bianca stood up and with a groan grabbed the cup from him. "thank you." conrad and bianca mumbled to jeremiah.

steven then groaned loudly, "come on man, hurry your ass up. i can't be late for my first day of work." steven said. bianca lifted her head and locked eyes with steven. his eyes holding an emotion that bianca couldn't exact read since she was too hungover.

"we won't. we're good." jeremiah chuckled making away from them and over to steven clapping their hands together.

"come on." bianca let out a chuckle when steven slapped jeremiah's ass and the blue eyes boy laughed and slapped his hand away. "those old country club boomers are gonna tip so hard, man. they won't know what hit 'em."

"please don't ever do that again, steven." bianca muttered after steven made a weird micheal jackson pose in front of laurel without a single ounce of shame. steven grinned teasingly at her and send her a wink. bianca rolled her eyes and continued to drink down the nasty drink.

belly then entered the kitchen from the side door. conrad sat up immediately and leaned on his knees. "belly where have you been?" laurel asked belly who looked gloomy and had a big bruise forming on her eye. "is that a bruise?"

"um, i bumped into someone." belly lied letting her mom touch her bruise but winced at the pain. belly then glanced over to conrad and bianca.

"doesn't look that bad." conrad said.

"yeah, it makes you look like a badass." bianca said and laurel gave her a glare. "sorry."

"cereal?" jeremiah asked breaking up the awkward tension. belly nodded her head causing the boy to start serving her cereal. belly looked back at bianca and mouthed to her, we're talking later. bianca send her a thumbs up while holding a confused look.

"oh my god!" susannah said excitedly running down the hallway. "belly and bianca are gonna be a debutante." susannah giggled. she walked over to bianca first giving her a quick and tight before before waddling over to belly and giving her the same treatment.

"it's really not a big deal."

"belly? like my sister. like, that thing right there?" steven asked pointing to belly.

"shut up, cretin." belly snapped at steven. bianca snorted and stood up. she grabbed conrad's empty cup and walked as normal as she can - which was very slow - over to the kitchen and put the cups inside of the sink.

"okay, this is going to be so much fun. just you wait. there is, uh... there's the tea. the auction,"

"auction? i'm i being bought?" bianca asked and susannah quickly shook her head.

"the ball, of course, the rehearsal... i gotta write this down." susannah turned around before gasping and turning back around. she completely ignored the fact that bianca grabbed a clean spoon, grabbed belly's bowl of ceral and took three bites out of her cereal and gave it back to belly. "we need to go shopping."

"this sounds... expensive."

bianca ignored the rest of the conversation and went to the bathroom. she could feel his eyes making a hole at the back of her head as she walked inside of the bathroom to pee. when she was done and walked back out the entire kitchen went quiet.

"bianca, so who do you want your escort to be for the ball?" susannah asked.

bianca let out a nervous laugh and shrugged her shoulders. "ill probably pick a random boy last minute. it's really not a big deal." bianca said. susannah looked like someone just stabbed her in the heart with what bianca just said.

"no! don't be ridiculous! uh, steven can escort you." susannah said smirking to herself. bianca laughed loudly while steven chocked on his own saliva. "what? why those reactions? i thought you two-"

"wikipedia says debutante balls require instruction in morals and social etiquette." laurel shifted the attention back to her. bianca looked over her shoulders and locked eyes with steven. all the teenagers in the room noticed this look but decided not to say anything.

"um, i'm going for a walk." bianca said walking inside of the living room and ran upstairs.

"no but shopping!" susannah yelled but bianca was already far away. "ugh, i'll just get you what i think it's cute then. but you're coming with us to buy your dress! be back in an hour!"

after bianca had her swimsuit on, grabbed her board from the side of beach house, and her bag that had extra clothes a towel and some snacks. she was off to the beach where her mind could be put to rest. she was kind of disappointed as she saw that there were hardly any waves but there were some to ride.

bianca took off her sandals, dropping everything on the sand before running to the ocean. she could feel herself falling in love with the ocean once again as the breeze of it ran through her face, body and hair. the closer she got the smell only got more intense and made her feel at home. the second her feet touched the water, bianca felt relaxed. that's the kind of affect that the ocean has on bianca.

bianca rode a few small and medium waves, nothing to big. during this moment her mind would go blank. it would go blank because this isn't about her trying to think properly, or trying to figure out something as she rode the waves. this time as she rode the waves it was about her and the ocean. it was a clean communication between the beautiful water and the girl that rode them gracefully.

unfortunately, the waves calmed down completely leaving no more proper waves for her to ride. she didn't know how much time she has left before susannah calls for her but she doesn't care. bianca laid down on her board. her stomach flat on the board, the sun burning her entire back, her right arm using it as a pillow while the left arm was dangled off to the side playing with the water. her legs splashing the water every now and then.

her mind turned on but her mind wasn't thinking about minor worries, or the debutante, or what dress she was going to get for the bell, or steven, or where her mom was. no, none of that. she didn't feel any stress as her mind wondered off to her dad. bianca continued breathing normally as her mind started thinking about times with her dad.

usually she would get sad if her mind would ever do this, then she would feel guilty to everything which would lead up to her having a full on panic attack. yet, as she was playing with the ocean she wasn't getting sad. instead she felt at peace with the ocean, herself, and the thoughts of her dad.

her dad has always told her that the ocean was the most magical thing on this earth. little bianca would usually say "why? it's just a huge hole of water." blaise would either gasp in fake offense or would laugh at bianca. she remembers clearly the day that her dad told her about how magical the ocean truly was.

she was sitting on her surfing board at the age of fourteen, her dad was on the other surfing board. there were zero waves and the father and daughter were just enjoying the beautiful sunny day. the moms were inside of the house getting to know everyone's schedule for the day and blaise managed to get him and her daughter away.

bianca asked why is the ocean so magical and blaise talked. "it just is." bianca scoffed at her dad and splashed him with her leg. "i'm being serious, baby. it just is magical. think about it, we don't know what half of things are inside of the ocean. we don't know the secrets of every single thing inside of the ocean. for all we know we could be living close to some magical creature that protect the ocean. those protectors probably don't see us as a threat that's why there aren't any waves but the second they see us as a threat there are these huge waves that we always surf on. think about it."

and bianca did. it was what she always thought about whenever she was surfing and there were zero waves. they don't see me as a threat but they're ruining my fun. bianca would think to herself but she would still stay inside of the ocean and never leave. her dad had ways of seeing the world that others would think he's high on some drugs but bianca understood up and took his words to heart.

one of the things she took to heart was when they were surfing some pretty big waves and blaise got crashed down. bianca managed to make it back to shore but blaise was struggling. it took him a minute to go back to shore but he was coughing widely and his board was cracking in half.

"when i die," blaise coughed out sitting up.

"dad, don't say that." bianca said kneeling besides him and giving him a glare.

blaise grinned at her and put his hand on the side of her face. "when i die," bianca rolled her eyes and let out a huff. "listen to be baby, when i die. i'm going to be part of the ocean. i don't know what creature i'm going go be or if i'm just going to be the foam of the ocean. but i'm going to be a part of the ocean, i can feel it."

bianca back then thought he was just being stupid and the smoke that he did with one of his friends was really hitting him right now. but the bianca now, the one that caught a sea turtle swimming up to her, doesn't think he's being stupid. maybe that's why after him, she felt think connection with the ocean that she's never had before.

she doesn't know what the afterlife is, no one does. but bianca wayne would rather believe that her dad is apart of the ocean and not in a place where everything is pitch black or in a place where he has to relive the worst time of his life.
