You were going about your day as usual, tidying up the guard tower in Laketown. You had spent the last four years working as a watcher for the town, although it rarely needed one, despite the twenty or so positions that were constantly rotating on duty. Laketown was not often attacked; in fact, it had never been besieged in your lifetime. It was often monotonous work, as there was rarely anyone to converse with while on the job. Today, for a change, there was a wounded dwarf with you, a charge of your cousin Bard's, who had charged with you with hiding him up here along with two of his companions. You had agreed, always being a soul willing to help others, and so now they sat here as you swept sand, pine needles, crisp leaves, and other small debris from last night's storm into a neat pile to dispose of later. You took a short respite from your work and noticed that one of the dwarves- the one who was healing from a wounded leg- was staring at you, quite plainly, seeming entirely unabashed when you caught him.
"And just what are you thinking about, Master Dwarf?"
A little smirk was all he gave in return. Your cheeks flushed and you rolled your eyes, returning to your work as you began to hum a little tune to distract yourself from the sudden whirling thoughts spinning around your mind. Oh goodness...
