Merry's eyes watered as he looked to Pippin, also choked up, and patted his best friend's hand.

"I know you miss Y/N, Pip. We all do. I know how much you cared for- for..."

Pippin swallowed his tears and tried to think of something to say in return. The memory of Y/N's death sent another wave of sorrow through his mind and as he began to cry, he choked out;

"I wish Y/N was here."

Merry felt a tear slip down his cheek, too.
