You were a cherished member of the Fellowship of the Ring, the sweetest little hobbitess with a brave heart of gold. Your best friend, Samwise, had loved you dearly in ways of the heart for the longest time, and yet he didn't dare to say a word about it to you. He expected you to turn him down, albeit as kindly as possible, and he knew he wouldn't be able to bear the pain. So he simply admired you from afar- until one day, when he woke before the others to an odd sight. He sat up, scratching his head as he examined the crushed fire pit, the messiness of everyone's packs, the strange silence of the forest... and the absence of you. With a shout, he leaped up, and soon everyone was searching for you. Pippin gave a cry of despair as he picked up a broken chain, trampled to the ground by a large foot that Aragorn grimly determined to be an orc's.

No one could really believe it. Pippin held up the broken heart locket with tears in his eyes and gave it to Sam, who opened it with trembling hands. The small portrait of you and he side by side, beaming at the artist, was torn in half. The remaining piece, all too painfully fitting, was of Sam; the art of you, missing. He dropped to his knees with a wail as Aragorn and Legolas set out in opposite directions on a futile search for any sign of you nearby. Frodo kneeled beside Sam and wrapped his friend in a fierce hug, knowing just how much you meant to him.

"It'll be alright, Sam," the Ringbearer reassured. "We'll all do whatever it takes to get her back."
