Chapter two
"Ben."
Ryssa's POV:
We arrived on a planet that was called Takodona. "I didn't know there was this much green in the entire galaxy." Rey said astonished. Han and I looked over at her, watching her eyes light up. We landed and Han talked to Rey about a job. I looked at the Wookiee and said "I'm Ryssa." He growled and I said "hello, Chewbacca." I smiled and Finn began talking to Han about how he wasn't apart of the resistance. We then walked into a building and sat down with Maz Kanata. After talking for a few minutes she crawled onto the table and took her eyeglasses off. Finn looked around and said "Solo, what is she doing?" "If you live long enough, you'll see the same eyes in different people." Rey furrowed her eyebrows and Maz looked at me. "You have kind eyes. I've seen them before." "I do?" "You do. You're kind but sad." I looked down and didn't say anything. "You're sad? What could you be sad about? Rey asked. "I'm going to get some fresh air." I said as I left the table. I walked into the woods of the planet. I took a deep breath and looked down. I hated being questioned about my feelings. Screams and gasps emitted into the air. I looked up at the sky to see planets being destroyed. They had done it. The First Order had done it. Then the ships began to arrive. I gulped as I saw a tie fighter. "BB-8 you have to go back." Rey said as she walked further into the woods. I went the opposite way, trying to avoid the soldiers all together. Then I saw him. Kylo Ren in all his glory. He turned around quickly and noticed me standing there. "Ryssa Dartsen." His voice, hidden by the modulator in his helmet. "Kylo Ren." I said. He began to walk over where I stood and I reached for my saber when he used the force, freezing me in place. I gasped and he continued to walk towards me. "What're you reaching for?" He said. "Nothing." I replied. He looked to my side and saw my saber in the holster. "A lightsaber. Interesting." He said. "You're shocked I have a lightsaber?" I asked. "No. I'm surprised you reached for it." I looked at him and I could feel him staring at me through the helmet. Rey saw us and began shooting at Kylo. He froze her as well. "I'll come back for you." He said to Rey. And with the swish of his hand, I blacked out.

I woke up strapped to a chair. I moved around, trying to get free. "It won't work." Kylo said. I looked up at him and said "what did you do with Rey?" "Nothing. I haven't done anything to her. Yet." "Did you take me because I help the resistance? I'm assuming I'm a threat." "Yes and no." I furrowed my eyebrows and he said "you are a threat. I need to destroy you. But I needed to see you, one last time before I do." "You needed to see me? Do I get to see the face of the infamous Kylo Ren before you kill me?" He reached up to his helmet. I didn't think he'd actually do it. The helmet hissed as he removed it off his head. My eyes widened and I gasped. "Ben." "No. Ben is gone. He died years ago." I tried to get free again and he undid the restraints. I looked down at them and saw they were open. I stood up and looked at Ben. I took in all his features. "You didn't change." He said. "You did." I said to him. He looked at my outfit, taking it in. "So, what's it like being the queen?" "Are we catching up now?" I asked. "I don't know. Are we?" I felt uncomfortable. Ben was different. He had changed. I didn't know why he leaned to the dark. But I'm sure I'd figure it out one way or another. "You feel uncomfortable." "Could you always sense how I felt?" "Ever since we were kids. It's been my strongest power. And seeing into people's heads. I want to see into yours." I shook my head and said "no. You don't get to see anything." "We'll see." He said as he pushed me back into the chair, the restraints clasping around my arms and feet. "No." I said as he held his hand out in front of him. I felt him trying to weasel his way into my head. And he did. For a little bit. "You cried when you left the temple. Your parents ridiculed you for it. You were alone. You got your lightsaber when you were sixteen. You learned to wield it. And became exceptional." I tried to force him out. I kept him out of something I didn't want him to see. A memory that I wish I could remove. Something that he could use against me. "You're sad. All the time. Your parents were disappointed in you." "Get out of my head." I said while sniffling. He continued to press on.

"You kept the necklace." He looked at the memory. The day he gave it to me. I pushed him out of my head and he pulled his hand back, shuddering. I leaned my head against the back of the chair, feeling drained. "Ryssa?" I looked at him weakly and he said "I just wanted to see." "See what?" "The map to Skywalker." I could sense a lie boiling up but I didn't question him. I didn't have the time nor the energy. "I've never seen it. Once I went to Naboo, I stayed there. I wasn't there when the temple fell. I don't know about anything that happened. I thought you were dead." "Ben is dead. He was weak." "You were never weak." "Don't speak to me like I'm Ben because I'm not." His voice raised slightly. I flinched and he noticed. "Are you scared?" He said almost in a whisper. "No." I replied. Neither of us said a word for a few seconds. We just stared at one another. "I destroyed the temple. And slayed all the padawans." He broke the silence. "Why?" I asked. "Maybe one day I'll tell you. I have to go. I have to speak to Rey." He put his helmet back on and I said "don't hurt her. She's strong." "I'm stronger than her. She's no match for me." And with that he left the room. A sigh of relief left my lips. I was tense from the second he took off his mask. Ben Solo became Kylo Ren. I was so confused. I didn't understand. And now I had to figure out why he strayed to the dark side.
