(Based on the movie: The Shining from 1980)

"Of course,I'd like to go with you.Anything for my best friend." my friend Wendy said through the other line. It's been half an hour since we've talked and I asked her if she'd like to come with us to where my husband Jack will be staying, he called me not long after he left that he had a promotion and had to take care of a hotel for a couple of months.

As soon as I ended the call my daughter came running into the living room. "Mommy!" she came in with tears falling down her cheeks.

"What happened?" I knelt down her level and wiped her tears away. "Danny is scaring me again." this has happened for a few months now, she would come in crying over how her twin brother Danny would scared her, since he's been talking to himself and sometimes zoning off.

There was nothing else for me to do since I went to doctors with him and he had no diagnose. Jack would sometimes go with me but not every time telling me 'He doesn't have time on being here and wasting his job'

"Don't be scared of your brother, he's just special."

"Am I special?" Izzy whispered playing with the sleeves of her dress. I smile down at her and nod, "Yes you are, come on let's keep on packing." Izzy and Danny continued helping me pack and stuffed some of their toys on my bags, they'll get bored of staying in an empty hotel anyways.

"Honey i'm home!"

I smiled at the sound of Jack's voice entering the room and I watched the kids run up to him, he knelt down and hugged them each. He's desperately been trying to act like a father again since we were on the verge of a divorce. Wendy told me to give him a second chance, so I did.

"Ready to leave?" Jack asked me when he released the kids and wrapped an arm around my waist. "Almost. I finished packing your clothes, oh and I asked Wendy if she would come with us." I saw Jack roll his eyes and I playfully punched him.

"She'll keep up company. Besides she can help and watch the kids too."

"I just wanted us four to go, but whatever you want."

We finished packing and we were all heading to the hotel's location. Wendy helped me by distracting the kids since they kept on asking why the hotel was so far, I also began playing with them since I could see Jack's annoyed face, which means he'll explode in no time.

I don't want him to get angry at me or the kids. That's why i'll do anything to save our marriage.

It's been a month since we arrived at the hotel. The kids were playing off somewhere while Wendy and I were making breakfast, we made some eggs,bacon,sausages and waffles. I returned to my room and served Jack's breakfast as he woke up, "Are the kids here?" i heard the tv on and only saw Danny watching Looney Tunes, "Only Danny's watching tv..Wendy." I turn to my right to see the raven haired woman looking back at me with a tray in her hands.

"Have you see,Izzy? She isn't with Danny."

"I haven't, do you want me to look for her."

I shake my head and gave Danny his breakfast, "No worries, I'll look for her." I left my room and started looking around the hotel for my daughter, I heard giggling and assumed it was her. I followed the sound of her laughter which was coming from the ballroom, I entered to see no one till I spotted her head hiding behind the bar.

"Izzy, what are you doing?"

"I was playing hide and seek." she said stepping out of her hiding spot and coming closer to me, "Oh, with who?"

"My imaginary friends, they are twins." she answered smiling and grabbing my hand. "You should meet them later.

I began walking to where Jack spends most of his time but when I arrived ti give him his afternoon coffee,he wasn't there. I placed the mug down on the table and looked down at the multiple papers he's written for his book, I was about to read it when I heard a door shutting loudly. I started running to where I heard it and saw Jack holding onto his head, staring down at the floor.

"Jack! What happened??"

I hugged him worried then looked at his dark eyes, he's frightened. I looked over to the door in front of us, room 237. I reached for the doorknob but Jack grabbed my hand, stopping me from opening it.

"Don't open." I was filled with curiosity but I did as Jack told me and left it like that. "You scared me Jack, I've never seen you this frightened in years." I told him as I sat next to him on his typewriter.

"Yeah..." Jack looked back over his shoulder then to me. "Where's the twins?" "They went out with Wendy." I noticed Jack deep into his thoughts so I grabbed his hand and this caught his attention.

"Is there something bothering you?"

"Not at all." he stared at me then smirked.

"Wendy!"

I started running down the empty halls of the hotel searching for my friend. I haven't seen Jack all day but whats been worrying me the most is the say he's been acting lately. "Wendy, have you seen Jack?!" when I enter her room I see Danny holding onto a knife close to her.

"Danny!" I shout his name and Wendy quickly wakes up and grabs the knife from his hands. Izzy wakes up from her sleep and starts screaming, scared I run over to her and see her staring at the door and it suddenly starts to move. "Wendy, I know you're in there." I hear Jack's voice but it sounds almost twisted.

Wendy begins to push us all into the bathroom and locks it holding onto the knife and I stand in front of the children when I heard Jack searching for us. "Wendy! What is happening?!"

"He's gone insane! He tried to kill me and now he's looking for all of us, I locked h-him inside the fridge." I jump and let out a scream when he hits the door. "Shit!" I start searching for an exit and look at the small window above us. "We won't fit in." I say desperately trying to get some snow out of the way, so I grab Izzy and Danny and help them out.

I look out to see them scared,worried and shivering from the cold snow. "Go and hide!" there's another loud sound and I look back to see Jack almost breaking down the door. "Here's Johnny!" Wendy grabs the knife and makes a small cut on his hand.

"(Y/N) come out and play!" he angrily says reaching his hand for me when he suddenly stops and smiles. "Don't you go anywhere." I stay in place and begin to shiver both from the cold and scared.

"(Y/N) we have to find the kids!" Wendy shakes my shoulders and opens the door for us to leave. "It'll be easier if we separated from one another, we have o get to safety." I find a nearby bat and hold onto it and began racing to find my kids.

Almost ten minutes later I began running around the maze. I don't exactly know my way in or out but I began looking for Izzy and Danny. "They have to be here!" I trip over the snow and see them up ahead before they both screamed and ran towards me.

"Mommy!" they both hugged me and hid behind me when I saw Jack holding onto the axe. "I just want to play with you, come on we'll have a great time." he smiles wide and raises the axe and I fall down the snow when it made a small cut on my cheek.

"Kids run! Wendy is waiting for you outside!" I push the kids so they run, I hold onto my bat and slowly start walking backwards when Jack starts walking towards me, "My love..please listen to me, this isn't you!" I drop my bat so he knows i don't think of him as a threat.

I close my eyes when I see him raisin his axe in the air, I wait a second and then open the back to see him holding the axe close to me, he began to sob as he held the weapon then threw it on the snow.

"I-I can't kill her..I can't!" he seems or be talking to himself of someone else. Slowly I start making my way towards him, "I love you..Jack. I promised to never leave you-"

"No..no i'm not a good man. Leave me here to die!" he sobs and falls down to the ground violently shivering. I kneel close to him and wrap my arms around his neck, "We'll get through this together, I won't ever leave you,Jack. You hear me?! You are my husband and our kids need you alive."

Jack sniffs and wraps his arms around my waist, "Whatever made you do this has an explanation but I refuse to leave you to die. As soon as we get back you'll get help." I pull back from our hug and look at him staring down the snow. "I'll get locked up..I killed him." I silently begin to cry but helped him up to his feet.

"Whatever happens next i'll be there to help you."
