*opens story and sees it's all one big paragraph*

*leaves immediately*

Let's start out with going to a new line because holy crap. There are a few instances when you would press enter and create a new line so there isn't just one giant paragraph that your reader has to struggle to get through. There are 4 easy spots to put a new paragraph.

1) When a new person is talking

2) When there's a new location

3) A time skip/change

4) A change of POV

Really simple and easy. It also breaks up your story so it's more organized and easier to understand.

Moving on to the more general grammar. If you ever wonder if something is wrong or right, then you can easily look it up and get more information there. Beyond that, here are some grammar rules/tips to follow.

1) A sentence needs to express a complete thought.

The subject is the main focus of the sentence; the person/thing they're talking aboutThe predicate will tell the action or say something about the subject.

2) Follow the Basic Parts of Speech

A noun names a person, animal, place, thing, quality, idea, activity, or feeling. A noun can be singular, plural, or possessive.

A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun, like "I", "you", or "they."

A verb shows action. Verbs also indicate tense. An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun. It adds meaning by telling which one, what kind, or describing it in other ways.

An adverb will modify a verb and tell more about it, like how much, when, where, why, or how.

A preposition usually shows location like "beside," "in," or "on". It can also show time, direction, motion, manner, reason, or possession.

Conjunctions connect two words, or phrases. Use FANBOYS (For, And, Nor, But, Or, Yet, So)

3) Use Punctuation

Capitalization is important. All sentences must start with a capital, or upper-case, letter.

Every sentence needs a punctuation mark at the end of it. This includes a period, exclamation mark, or question mark.

Colons are used to separate a sentence from a list of items or to introduce a long, direct quote.

Semicolons are used when you could either put a period or a comma.

There are a lot of rules for commas. The basic ones are that commas separate things in a series and go wherever there is a pause in the sentence. They surround the name of a person being addressed, separate the day of the month from the year in a date, and separate a town from the state.

Apostrophes are used in contractions to take the place of one or more letters and also to show possession. An apostrophe and "s" is added if the noun is singular and an apostrophe alone is added if the noun is plural.

With that, you have a really good start! Please, please, please be conscious of your grammar and spacing. It's so important to writing a good story, you have no idea how many times I've clicked off because of bad grammar.

Requests are open! So are asking questions!
