Jack jumped a bit when the door of the car was janked open and slammed shut quickly.

Danny melted against the seat. "Let's go, please."

Jack quietly revved the motor and took off. He concentrated on getting out of school grounds before turning to his son with an excited grin. "So how was school."

Danny groaned long and hard. "Terrible."

"Oh..."

"Pretty sure all the teachers have something against me. And all the students want to be my friend."

Jack looked confused. "And that isn't good?"

"Noooo." The boy cried. "And they want me to put my autograph on everything they own. Pretty sure they'll be coming with their pets and plants for me to sign tomorrow."

It was a bit quiet as Danny silently suffered. Jack tried to offer a bit of comfort. "I'm sure it'll blow over soon."

"No it won't."

"They'll get used to it, son."

"I hope so."

"Do you want to go back tomorrow?"

Danny sighed, thinking it over. "If it stays like this, I won't be able to keep this up. But if it's just some kind of high they have to come down from then I'll survive...I think."

"That's good, son. Your mom and I just want you to feel comfortable."

Danny scoffed. He'd have to stay at home for that. "We'd have to move to another country."

It was silent and Danny turned to see his dad bite his lip. Was he seriously thinking this over??

"Do you want to move to another country?"

"No, dad. I don't think I could leave. Besides, I don't want to do that to you guys."

"But you said you don't like it here."

"It's yeah- it uh. It's gonna be hard but I'll get through. Don't worry. We won't move."

The man exhaled, relieved. "Ok son."

Danny offered him a smile and watched the houses they flitted by. "Hey Dad?"

"Yes son?"

"Why do you call me 'son' so much? Like...why don't you just call me by my name?"

Jack glanced at him worriedly. "You don't want me to call you son?"

"No, I." Danny shifted around in his seat to face him better. "It's fine. I like it. It's like me calling you dad. It," he took a breath, "it's nice to be reminded what I am to you."

Jack looked back to the road, pleased. "Good. Because I'm proud to be able to call you my son."

Danny's throat closed up. That...that was. He blinked back tears as he stared outside.

"Almost home."

The teen couldn't recognize the street but he'd take his father's word for it. "Can we drive around the town a bit?"

Jack suddenly looked uncomfortable. "I'm sorry, Danny, but we'd...there's a- we made a plan."

"Who? What?"

"I'm supposed to eat some fudge when I bring you back from school."

Danny scrunched his eyebrows. "We can drive around fast. It'll only take a moment. I'm sure nobody else is gonna eat your fudge."

"No. There was a plan," he insisted.

"Ok. What about after that?"

"I'm supposed to fix the Fenton sludge container. It broke yesterday."

Danny wasn't sure why the plan was so important to his dad. He didn't really come over as a strict person. Couldn't he bend the rules a bit for his son? However, he could see Jack wasn't being mean and looked genuinely sorry for not having time for him. "Alright. Is there a moment today where we could drive around?"

Jack brightened. "Yes. I fix the invention and clean up the lab, and then I buy groceries from your sticky note and you cook dinner..."

Danny didn't know when he'd become the designated cook but he wasn't about to complain.

"And after that I have scheduled some father and son time. I thought you'd want to rest a bit before we did anything."

Something warm curled inside Danny. "Thank you. Can we go to town during our father and son time?"

Jack laughed. "Of course, son. I'm sorry we can't go now."

Danny grinned at him. "It's fine. The town's not going anywhere."

The drove up their house and parked in front. When they entered his father made a beeline for the fridge and Danny let himself plop down on the couch, his backpack next to him. He took out his phone and searched up 'Danny Phantom citizens' on YouTube. He'd looked at fights the other night when he should've been sleeping but wasn't tired.

He scrolled until he saw one he didn't recognize. It was taken by a bystander and showed Danny trying to evade a group of papparazzi. Danny watched with great interest as the ghost blinked out of sight.

He looked at his hand as the video played the disappointed and amused sounds of the people watching.

"Our heroic vigilante, everyone!" The person making the video laughed. "Avoids everything except trouble."

Danny absentmindedly put the phone away and continued staring at his hand.

Avoiding everyone certainly sounded enticing.

He wondered how to do it. What did it feel like to not be seen.

Maybe if he just concentrated hard enough. Think about being invisible hard enough. He closed his eyes real tight but couldn't put his thought focused on one thing long enough for it to be considered focusing.

He harumphed. How did he do it? Or maybe it couldn't be done when he was in this form? That'd be weird. Shapeshifting shouldn't affect his abilities? Or was it more than that?

He shook his hand and just threw the thought out there. Just Boom invisible. Go.

He blinked when he realized his hand had disappeared.

Danny stared blankly at the air where his hand was supposed to be. Great now he only had one hand. What the heck was he supposed to do now. He didn't even know if he could write right handed.

He was in the middle of making a plan on how to tell his mom when suddenly he had two hands again.

He grinned and leaned back in the couch. So it worked. He didn't even know how he did it. He barely thought about it. Suppose it's just natural. At least he knew he could count on his muscle memory.

Danny jerked his hand again and this time his whole arm went invisible. He stood up and went to the kitchen were his mom was trying to fix the refrigerator. His dad must have finished up his fudge or taken it somewhere else because he wasn't there.

"Hey Mom?"

She hummed.

"Is my arm gone?"

She paused in her rustling and got her head out from behind the fridge. Her hair was tied up in a half ponytail and her cheeks were a bit red from the cold. Her eyes widened at him. "Yes. I can't see it."

"Okay. Thanks." He turned around. "I'll try to do my whole body now."

Maddie stared after him, her brain trying to reboot. Her son...half ghost. Which means he has ghostly abilities. Obviously. Danny Fenton can go invisible. Among other stuff she will have to find out.

She took a breath and released, blowing a few stray strands from her face. She hunched back over the fridge.

The doorbell went off. "Danny can you get that?!"

"I'm busy!"

"I'm fixing the fridge!"

"How come it's broken. It was working in the morning."

"It's been broken for almost a month. The only reason it even cooled anything was because of the little ghostly pests that haunted it. But they left and I gotta figure out what to do with it."

Danny turned to look at Blobby. He'd completely forgotten they were even there.

The doorbell went again.

"Danny!"

"I'm coming."

Sam and Tucker smiled when the door opened but paused when they saw nothing there.

"Um." Tucker waved his hand in front of him experimentally. "Hello?"

He hit something and got a monotone response. "Yeah. Slap me, why don't you. Just get in here."

The door opened wider, leaving the two teens to exchange amused glances before they followed.

Sam went in first, eyes glinting as she followed the sound of footsteps. "You know you're invisible right?"

"...Sweet."

They passed the kitchen and paused to greet Mrs. Fenton.

"Sam? Tucker?"

"Yeah. Hey Mrs. Fenton," Tucker answered. "Invisible Danny let us in."

"What?" Maddie retreated from the fridge. "Danny?"

"Yeah, look. It worked." The dismembered voice of Danny came. Suddenly he appeared back in view, looking a bit ruffled.

"You're practicing your powers?" Sam asked.

"Yup. So I can get out of the house without getting a camera shoved up my mouth." Danny stretched out his arm. "I think I'm getting the hang of it." He showed them proudly by using the same method and shaking his arm. Invisible.

They made a face at him.

"Why do you move your arm so much. You shaking the visibility off or something?" Sam said incredulously.

Tucker laughed. "Shake it off, Danny. Shake it off." He said singing Taylor Swift.

The teen just turned around and grumbled. They couldn't even appreciate the effort he was putting, geez. Let's see them live with one hand, huh. How'd they like that.

The other two followed him to the living room. He plopped down on one of the couches and squinted at his hand, trying to make it come visible without making any kind of jerking motion.

His mom's voice shouted from the kitchen. "Did you ask them if they wanted anything to drink?" She sounded almost scolding.

Danny looked over at the teens on the couch diagonal to him. "You want anything?"

"Nah."

"Nope."

"No!"

Maddie's voice sounded irritated. "Then ask them!"

"They said no!"

"Okay!"

Danny sighed and looked back down at his hand, realizing it was back. He looked up at the teens to show it to them proudly, but could see they were laughing at him. He frowned grumpily and looked back down.

An awkward silence reigned between the three. Sam and Tucker exchanged looks, both uncomfortable and unsure.
And afraid.

They'd never had such awkward silences before. Not that they can remember anymore.

Sam twiddled her fingers and leaned forward. "So um...how was school? We didn't have any classes together and we couldn't talk to you during lunch." Danny had been so surrounded by students. Sam and Tucker didn't want to be put in the same category as the people who wanted to be friends with him because of his fame.

Danny dropped his hand and gave a tired sigh. "Not my best decision. I probably should've waited longer before I went out to the open."

Tucker snorted. "As if you'd willingly stay in one place for too long." There. That was one thing the other kids wouldn't know about him.

Sam laughed nervously. "I don't think it would've gone down anytime soon. You know, teens these days." What was she saying?? Say something smart. "They probably would've started rumors if you hadn't come when you did. Not that you care anymore about what others say about you." She reassured him quickly.

Danny nodded with a bit of hesitation. He looked down at his hands. The words of his dad came back to him.

Don't let anyone tell you who you are.

He didn't know how he would've reacted to rumors. They'd already started anyways from what he'd heard and the random questions he was asked. And he didn't know how long he'd be able to stay put in one place. But he'd like to figure that out himself.

"Well. I've made the choice. Guess we'll have to see how it ends up," he said looking away.

Tucker nodded as Sam locked eyes with something next to Danny. "Oh. It's one of the blob ghosts."

The three of them turned to look at the small ghost nestled next to Danny's leg. Danny smiled. "Yeah. That's Blobby. They keep following me everywhere. I don't know why."

"Blobby," Tucker snorted.

Sam hummed, leaning back and inspecting Danny. "It's nice that you're letting it stay with you. You didn't like that before."

He frowned. "I didn't?"

"Nope. It wasn't a good idea anyway. People could've figured out your secret much sooner."

Danny looked down at the ghost. Couldn't past him have just asked them to go invisible? Why wouldn't he enjoy the blob ghost's company? They calmed his nerves and their energy was nice.

He shrugged, not really wanting to get into it. "Anyway, I have gym tomorrow. Do you think I should practice flying so I don't have to do laps?" Or are you going to tell me I behave like the perfect hero and would never use my powers for personal gain.

Sam and Tucker noticed his unease and the change of topic. Oh boy, what had they done wrong.

Before they could answer, the doorbell rang again.

"Danny!"

He stood up. "Coming!"

Please don't be paparazzi. His parents had threatened to get out of the house if they set foot on their territory again. Danny was amused to find that a threat like that could disperse them so fast.

He opened the door to see some kid he had in biology. His name was something with a 't'.

"Hey!" The kid said enthusiastically. "It's me, Mattie! I was just passing through and thought, why not. So uh...can I come in?"

Danny supposed he'd have to get used to random kids knocking on his door, wanting to be friends. He gave a barely audible sigh and opened the door wider. "Sure. Join the club. You want something to drink?"

See I updated sooner. This time it only took one month instead of two. Hehehhe
Heh
I just realized how long these updates be taking for you guys. To me it feels like nothing. And it's already passing by so fast.

Either way if it makes you feel better, to all Voltron fans here I wrote a crossover in my "short stories" (used to be called oneshots) book. It Danny centric so there's no ships and we don't get to see THAT deep in the paladins or the alteans. Sorry bout that. Anyway

Byeeee
