Asa caught the king's eye after very nearly proving one of the scientists at the market fair wrong. The only reason he wasn't successful was he didn't have the education to back up his statement. Since he was only an orphan, he was taken is as an apprentice for the Royal Scientist of a kingdom neighboring Ikari at the age of eleven.

He always had a harsher side to him, but it was mainly due to having grown up alone and being very analytical about things. He used to be shy and hesitant, but could be convinced to do almost anything if it was "for science," within reason, of course.

The same group that tortured Jayson (RaNdOmNeSs990) kidnapped Asa as an attack against the kingdom. Thinking he was dead, the King and Royal Scientist didn't go looking for him. Asa was kept in the cell with/next to Jayson, and was driven to insanity by torture and his predicament. Eventually, he gave in, no longer having the conscience to put others before himself. He let them turn him into a weapon. He tortured countless prisoners before finally escaping. He lost almost all mobility in his left hand in the escape, and wears a contraption of his own devising in the form of a glove with gears and wires to help with moving it.

Asa can be reckless, dangerous, and even sadistic. He's not fully aware of his actions, as his presence of mind has been somewhat disconnected. He's been known to walk up and take a blood sample with a knife before he's even acknowledged the person. If you're lucky, he might apologize before testing something out on you.

If you catch him in a more stable mood, he's surprisingly kind, even if it's in a more harsh way. He's still incredibly smart, even if his mind doesn't always connect. He's unpredictable, and a bit on the crazy side, but if he sticks around, he's surprisingly loyal, and needs a real friend more than he'd probably want to admit.
