Peter was at the after school meeting for the Academic Decathlon on Thursday when his phone rang.

"Peter!" Mr. Harrington shouted at him as he checked the caller ID.

"Sorry, Mr. Harrington I have to take this, it's work." There was a brief look on Flash's face as Peter stepped out of the room to take the call.

He could hear, "Yeah, right like Parker's telling the truth. Even if he does have a job—"

But Peter had downed out the rest in order to answer the call. "Miss Pepper?"

"Hello, Peter. I'm calling to give you some information about the meeting with Hope Van Dyne. She was impressed with how you handled the email from her father, and I can't say Tony or I disagree.

"There were a lot of complications with setting up the meeting because you're not here all that often and Hope has her own company to run, however we did manage to arrange a meeting for three weeks time, it's just not on a weekend."

Miss Pepper paused to give Peter time for that the set in. "I'm going to miss some time off of school."

"Yes, well, the date of the meeting itself will be the same day your class is here on the tour. I plan on meeting with Principal Morita tomorrow. We're going to go over an arrangement for you to step away, as well as to let you leave completely if your being part of the group disrupts the tour itself.

"I also plan on arranging some sort of schedule for you to not fall behind in class and miss days to do the project itself as you'll likely have to spend a few weeks. Hope and I were talking and discussed that the project itself starts after Christmas in the lead up to New Years and that you miss a few weeks at the start of the new term if necessary.

"Your Aunt will be in the meeting too so don't worry about that, though you'll have to stay behind after school. If you get everything you might need to bring with you to the Tower into a bag then you can pick it up when Happy drops your Aunt off at the meeting and come straight back with us."

"Uh. Yeah, I'll make sure I have a bag ready. Thank you Miss Pepper."

"That's okay, Peter. And thank you for letting me know that FRIDAY likes being included in emails."

"It's no problem, I'm a bit worried that she or KAREN will get a virus through the emails, but Mr. Stark said that he'd give them protections preventing it."

"I'll see you tomorrow, Peter."

"See you tomorrow, Miss Pepper."

The call ended and Peter went and rejoined the Academic Decathlon team.

"So," Ned began. "Was that Mr. Stark?"

Flash snorted at the question. "Yeah Parker, was that your best friend Tony Stark."

Peter ignored Flash and answered Ned's question. "No, it wasn't Mr. Stark." Flash let out a ha of victory causing Peter to elaborate. "It was Miss. Pepper, she said she was going to meet with Principal Morita at some point in the next week to talk about missing some time after Christmas break for a project and mentioned I'd need to be present at the meeting with Aunt May." Peter has held off of telling Ned about the field trip knowing that the school would want to give out the information themselves.

"That's so cool." Ned said enthusiastically. The other members of the Team were looking more interested now. "Is the project the one with Pym Industries? I thought Hank Pym was really rude to you in that email." Peter saw Michelle raise her eyebrow.

"It is and he was. But you know how I told you I was going to reply? I copied his daughter into the email and she contacted me about the project herself. I believe we're in contract negotiations now though I'll expect Miss. Pepper will tell me when I'm at the Tower tomorrow."

"You mean you have contact with Hope Van Dyne and Virginia Potts and didn't say anything? They're two of the most prominent women in business!" Michelle was fully into the conversation now.

Peter was immediately defensive. "I mostly talk to Mr. Stark, obviously I've spoke to Miss. Pepper too. Miss. Pepper is the person I need to send most of my forms and requests and whatever else to though since Mr. Stark never looks at that stuff. As for Dr. Van Dyne we've only sent a few emails about a future project, I could probably count them on one hand." He didn't mention that on nights he stays at the Tower Miss. Pepper cooks for them both and Mr. Stark.

Michelle didn't get to reply to that as Flash made another comment. "Oh, I can't believe you're falling for this! Pym Industries hate Stark Industries, they're never going to collaborate on anything. Not that Penis works at SI at all. They don't accept Interns under the age of 18."

"Mr. Thompson! While I can't assign a detention for after school activities I will be notifying the other Teachers about what you've just called Peter. That's unacceptable. Mrs. Warren said she saw him in the R&D labs on the Robotics trip last weekend, something about having received a promotion?" He'd turned to Peter to ask that last part while Flash was still  flushed at being caught out.

"A promotion suggests a rise in pay. My contract just changed to include different responsibilities and job title at the end of October. There's a difference in the Intern contract and the Junior Specialist Assistant. Something to do with responsibility during an attack? Like, I'm still a minor so I can't be expected to follow procedure and the company won't be covered if I get injured during an attack?" He thought back to the list FRIDAY had emailed him on Friday. "The Junior Specialist Assistant contract states that they'd take responsibility for ensuring I'm safe and agreeing to pay for all medical fees that might stem from failure to do so."

"Why didn't you tell us that?" Sally Advril asked him.

"By that point I was getting so much crap for mentioning it at all that I didn't see the point." Peter shrugged while the rest of the team glared at Flash.
