+ THIRD PERSON POV!
逃げる • I WANT TO RUN AWAY . .

"And how do you propose that we solve this case without accidentally butchering the hostages?"

"Relax, I've got this all under contro-"

"Control my ass! Last time you almost burned our office down when you were trying to make coffee on your own! This is why you're banned from the kitchen, and now I'm the one responsible to make you the hotstuff!"

"You're awfully loud in the morning, Solar. Pipe it down a little, wouldn't you?" The response yawned, "And use your inner voice.. this is the library."

Solar grits his teeth, "We're in the office, stupid!"

"Same thing. Everywhere can be quiet when one demands for it. Now go to work, silently."

The other teen throws a hand up, wiping his visor on the sleeve of his shirt. "You're unbelievable." He mumbles underneath his breath, "I can't believe that I'm your partner."

"We've been partners for 3 years!"

"Shut it. Don't act like you're quiet yourself, munchkin." Solar stood up from his seat, tidying up the stack of papers on his desk whilst talking, "We have a new case, by the way. And this time, you better be involved in it. I am not fili-"

"Fine." The other boy groans, sticking his tongue out, "But I'll only do it on one condition.." He wags his finger in front of his coworker's face.

"If it involves finding out new methods of ending your life, then I'd better figure out the case on my own."

"Aw, Solar. Don't say that!"

"You're hopeless, you know?"

"You still need my help anyway." Smirking, the brown-haired detective props his chin onto his palm, "Without me, you're all practically clueless, hmm?"

Solar smacks the boy on the head, earning a howl of laughter, "Unbelievable." He shakes his head next, "So, are you coming with me or not?"

"Depends," The boy clicks his tongue, swiveling around in his chair like the kid he is, "What's the case about? If it fails to get my attention, then.."

"It has something to do with the Mafia."

"Oh." This caught the boy's attention, and for the first time that day, Solar could finally see life glimmering in the figure's orbs, "The Mafia.. that is interesting. And who are we going against?"

"Not against, we're tasked to find someone."

Someone. Solar takes the brown folder into his hands and licks a finger, flipping through the pages. "Ah, found it. Here." He unclips the binder and takes out a bundle of attached documents.

"Ah! Him! I know him."

Raising a brow out of interest, the question launched out of the latter's lips. "How? I've never seen him before." Solar crosses his arms, tapping his foot impatiently on the ground. This guy's full of surprises, as always.

"Well, I've met him once. Somewhere.." The voice trails off, "Oh wait- I remember now. I think it was at that ice cream parlor. I went with you, remember?"

"I don't recall seeing him." And this was a fact. Solar, with his extraordinary detailed vision and a knack at remembering things (plus faces), found the attached picture unrecognizable. "Perhaps its one of your old friends?"

"No." Clack! The file was thrown onto the table, closed. A big, square CONFIDENTIAL was stamped on the cover. "If he was, I would've known."

"Right." Solar blinks, unmoving. "You would."

There was a comfortable silence between them, their eyes clashing together in a stare contest. This had became customary. Whoever loses were to be the one filing the report to their leader.

As always, Solar was the one to tear his glossy eyes away. "Dang." He seethes, "I can never win against you." He flicks his tears away, "So, are you coming or not?"

"Of course I am, I wouldn't want to see you dead."

"You make this all sound dangerous, Cyclone."

The said boy rises up from the chair, taking a rubik's cube into his hand. The smirk was still plastered on his unearthly face, "It wouldn't hurt to expect the worst, Solar. Sometimes a little hope helps in the hardest situations."

Solar huffs, saying nothing and strolls right out.

>> TIME SKIP : 2 HOURS.

Cyclone squats on the ground, arms extended as he pets the stray kitten padding round the garden. "Did you find anything, Solar?" He hums, to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb. "We've been here for two hours! It's getting boring!"

"You've helped with nothing." His counterpart answers, pushing his spectacles up the bridge of his nose. "So far, I've gotten information from the locals. They said that they saw him about an hour ago."

"Here?" The bright-eyed boy stands upright, lolling his head slightly to the right in curious light. "Ah, we must've missed him then. How unfortunate."

"You knew about this, didn't you?"

His partner grins, showing his pearly white teeth.

Solar purses his lips in a thin line, hearing no answers from his partner. He reverts the topic to another one with a cough, "Let's go find the runaway instead. Without suffice evidence, we won't be able to identify the killer."

"Wait." Cyclone says, scratching his bandaged neck.

"What now?"

Cyclone dips his head slightly, turning to the direction of the ocean, "There." He raises a hand, pointing at somewhere in the horizon. "I think.. that he might be hiding from us instead."

"Hiding? Why would he?" Solar snubs his cigarette out by the smoking plate on top of the public garbage can. He follows the finger, licking his lips in anticipation. "Ah, I see what you mean."

Snickering once more, Cyclone walks past his partner, "What are we waiting for? Don't we have a person to kill?"

"You idiot." Solar sighs, patiently. "We're saving."

"Whatever! I don't care. Let's go, we might lose him."
