The next week flew by, most of the time I was in the stable training for the second show of the YENT circuit. It was Wednesday morning, the day of the show. We were all in the truck on our way to the showgrounds. The YENT show was early so we had to take the horses out of the trailer and head to the warm-up ring. We rolled into the showgrounds and started unloading our horses while Elizabeth got our numbers. I tacked up Mandala and went to the warm-up ring where I had an uneventful warm up I put my mare in her stall, I took off her tendon boots and put on her bell boots so that you couldn't pull a shoe and left her with plenty of shavings.  I was walking the course when you read her her girl  with a freckled face walked up to me."Amber?" She asked "You are the girl with a chestnut mare that one last time right?"
"Yes" I answered.
"Could you do me a favor and ride my mare Sunstruck please." She asked  "She is afraid of water and I don't feel capable of getting her over one, much less two!"
"Sure!" I answered. I had always wanted to catch ride an here I was having a chance that you couldn't deny. I was glad that people started to recognize me! "I am going to finish walking the course and I will meet you in the warm up ring."
"Thanks a lot!"She answered as she walked away.
I finished walking my course and headed to the warma up ring where the red head girl that was called Mia was waiting close to the door with the rains of a pretty palomino.
"That Sunstruck?" I asked.
"Yes." She answered
"She is gorgeous!" I said in awe.
"Yes, she sure is!" She said.
"Mind to give me a leg up?"
"Not at all." She said as she gave me a leg up.
In the warm up ring I walked her to get to know her and trotted and cantered her in circles. When I felt conferable on her I directed her to the warm up jump where she powered over it effortlessly. She was pretty and good as well!
I jumped a few more times and walked her so that her muscles would be lose. I was going first on Sunstruck and then on Mandala.
When they called my number I entered the ring and jumped the few obstacles before the water jump. A few strides before the water jump I felt her try to duck out, but I urged her on with my leg. She launched into the air and when we landed I heard a big thud. The rail fell but I didn't care i got her over the first water jump, just the second one left. In the next water jump she didn't try to run out, she already knew who was boss. When we finished the announcer said that we ended the course with four faults I walked out and gave her a few pats. Mia was waiting for me out side with Mandala.
I'm sorry we didn't go clear" I told her as I dismounted.
"It's okay, you got her over the water jump and that's what matters" she said with a smile. I returned the smile and waited for my turne.
After having a flawless round with Mandala I walked her and waited for the jump off to start. The course was easy so I wasn't so nervous. I was one of the last ones to go so I had the advantage to know what time to beat. However Jess wasn't that lucky, she was going first.
"Are you all ready Jess?" I asked her as she fiddled with the rains waiting to go in and ride.
"Um, I don't think so, I an really nervous" she said. A few seconds later you could hear the announcer say
"Jessica Fox into the ring!" Jess entered and bolted for the first jump. They had a good round except for an unlucky rail.  I knew that she he was disappointed, but still gave  Wizard a pat.

A few riders and it was my turn. The next riders passed with clear but slow times. I was up. I went into the ring and urged Mandala to gallop we galloped through the course and only slowed down for the combination. We galloped towards the last jump and Mandala launched into the air and as soon as she landed I asked her to go faster. We crossed the finish line with a good time. We had the best time until now and I was confident that we had a shot at the blue ribbon. I was proud of my mare, she would jump or run everything for me, just like she had done today. I didn't care they there was a big crowd, I still lent over and hugged her.
"Good job" I whispered to her. I walked her and waited anxiously for the awards.

I was still with Mandala when Jess came running and yelled
"You won! Come over! You won!" I was still in shock so Jess had to drag me to get the silky blue ribbon.
"Good job today" the judge said as hello pinned the ribbon on Mandalas bridle, he also gave me a gift card to my local tack store Troya. We took our victory lap and went back to the barn where I washed Mandala, put her in her stall and gave her two bug carrots. I was really proud of her. I rode my bicycle back home and went to bed to see if I could be rested for the day of my birthday.

Hey everyone! I hope you have liked my story so far, I have been working very hard to update frequently but I just entered school so I won't have as much time to write and that means that I can't publish as often. I hope you understand. Love you all!! ~ Lilaph
