After Remedial Goodness on Monday, Rain heads back to her room and finds Ruby doing homework at her desk.

"Hey Rain," she waves, but ends up collapsing on Ruby's bed, her boots dangling by Ruby's desk chair "You okay?" she glances at her limp body.

"Why am I sweating?" Rain complains and Ruby grabs her ankles

"Get your sweaty butt off my bed," she pulls Rain down and said girl shrieks, grabbing onto the bed posts, Ruby keeps pulling,

"How are you so strong?!" Rain struggles to stay on the bed, and Ruby gives one more yank, forcing Rain to hit the floor by her chair, she blows some hair out of her face "You're horrible,"

Ruby laughs, but passes Rain a bottle of water "Okay, you wanna know the real reason you're so warm all the time-"

"Because I'm in hell?"

"No." Ruby rolls her eyes and tugs at Rain's leather jacket "You're always wearing dark clothes, black absorbs the light, and burgundy isn't much better,"

"Oh..." Rain looks down at her attire "Well I don't have anything else," Ruby can't help but pity the poor girl, she shuts her laptop and turns properly to her.

"Well that's okay," she smiles "You can borrow my clothes for now," she stands and opens her wardrobe "and then next Friday I can take you into town to shop! You were given your living fund, right? It doesn't matter, I'll pay for you anyway probably, ohhh I can definitely see you in some purple, oh but no, you'll want to stick to your mum's colours right? Honestly a bright red would look so cute, I think a lighter pallet would suit you-"

"Ruby," Rain stands up, watching her roommate rummage through her wardrobe, she turns

"Hm?"

"Thank you,".

Evie answers when Rain and Ruby knock and her eyes widen when she sees Rain "Oh my god! She squeals and pulls her into the room where Mal is flicking through her spell book and Carlos is on the floor, typing away at his laptop, Rain waves "Look at you! Do a spin,"

"No," Rain grumbles and Evie twirls her anyway.

"You look nice," Carlos mutters and Mal nods

"It suits you,"

"Oh, you look so good! Ben would lose his mind," an eyebrow is raised "Oh come on, that boy is so into you,"

"Evie," Rain says through gritted teeth, glancing at Ruby "He has a girlfriend,"

"Yeah," Ruby snorts "and she sucks," everyone's heads snap up at her "Oh come on, the tension between them is obvious, and it's not good tension, She's horrible, and he clearly hates it, that relationship was over months before you guys showed up," she's oblivious to the shock on the faces around her, she checks her watch "Anyway, I've got to call my dad," with that, she's gone and Rain sits at the end of the end of Evie's bed.

"Do you like Ben?" Mal asks suddenly

"I mean yeah, he's nice and he-"

"Not you Carlos," Mal flicks his head and Evie giggles "Rain,"

"Um..." Rain looks around, her friends are staring at her impatiently "...He's awkward and weirdly sweet?"

"Doesn't answer the question R," Evie says softly and Rain looks over at Mal nervously, she definitely wouldn't approve of whatever feelings she has. Ben was...cute, he helped Carlos out, he's always talking to her, he helps her in class and his eyes were really pret-

"Yes,"

Evie squeals and walks over to her desk "We totally need to doll you up! I'm thinking of some more blush, and I'll make some more clothes for you,"

"Ruby's um taking me shopping on Friday? You and Mal could come," she turns to Mal who nods.

"Yeah," she starts flicking through her spell book again "And hey, If you do like Ben that much, I can always love spell him," she smirks

"No," Rain shakes her head quickly "No love spells," She wasn't that evil.

"We wouldn't need one M," Evie chimes in "He is falling in love with you," she points to Rain who blushes, and as Mal goes to speak up, the door opens and Jay saunters in, showing off his new tourney shirt.

"Way to go, man," Rain gives him a high five as he passes her, he leans on the bedpost next to Mal, oblivious to everything that's been happening.

"Did your plan work with Jane" Rain had forgotten about that " Are you going over to see the wand?"

"Do you think that I'd be going through every spell in this book if it had?" Mal snaps

"Oh, someone's in a bad mood,"

"She was fine until you got here," Rain mutters and Jay glares

"My mom's counting on me Rain, I can't let her down,"

"Counting on us," Rain adds softly

"We can do this..." Jay starts but everyone else looks at him causing him to pause "If we stick together"

"And we won't go back until we do okay?" Rain says confidently " Because we're rotten..."

"To the core,"

After a moment of silence, Jay looks to Rain "Why're you dressed like that?" She closes her eyes and sighs

"Thanks, Jay,"

"Oh, yeah!" Evie looks up from her sewing machine " I found out that Fairy Godmother blesses Ben with the wand at the coronation and we all get to go. I have nothing to wear, of course." The VK's all stare at her "What?" A sudden knocking makes Mal stand up.

"Hold that thought." Mal swings open the door, and Ben is standing there, a nervous smile on his face.

"Hey Mal," he looks into the room "Rain! Hi!"

"Hi," Rain waves and Evie mouths 'in love' to her.

"I um didn't see you guys today. I was just wondering If you had any questions or anything" he looks over to Rain "... That... you needed..." he blushes under her gaze.

"There's nothing that I know of," Mal answers looking to everyone shake their heads.

"Okay. All right. Well, uh, if you need anything, just, uh..." he starts to walk away

"Oh, wait!" he turns around "Um, is it true that we all get to go to your coronation?"

"Yeah, the whole school goes,"

"Wow. That is beyond exciting. Do you think that It's a possibility that the four of us could stand in the front row next to the Fairy Godmother, just so we could soak up all that goodness?"

"I wish you could. Up front, It's just me, my folks, and my girlfriend."

"And your girlfriend?" Rain asks suddenly interested

"Yeah!" he looks excited for a moment before he remembers something and his smile turns nervous "Uh, sorry,"

"Okay. Thanks Bye," Mal slams the door in his face "You know what Rain? I think Evie and Ruby were right, It's time that Bennyboo got himself a new girlfriend."

"What?" Mal laughs

"Spellbook," she makes grabby hands and Carlos chucks it over, Mal flicks through the pages

"No Love-"

"-Spells, I know, I know, boring," she keeps flicking "This," she points to a page and Rain reads it.

"Confidence spell?"

The VKs had to wait a few days to find the time to create the potion, and so, Tuesday evening, Rain is sat on a kitchen counter, ice cream in her hand while Mal stirs a cookie mixture.

The theory was, that a confidence spell, which Mal assured would only last 10 days, would get Ben to finally break up with Audrey, and make his move on Rain.

"All right. It says that we still need one tear, and I never cry," Mal remarks after reading the instructions.

"Let's just chop up some onions" Carlos swings his legs on the counter he, Jay and Rain were sitting on.

"It says that we need one tear of human sadness. And this potion gets the best reviews so we have to follow it exactly."

"A tear's a tear," Jay sighs

"That's not true, Jay. They both have antibodies and enzymes, but an emotional tear has more protein-based hormones than a reflex tear." Evie corrects

"Listen to you, Little Miss Smarty Pants," Rain teases, but she's grinning.

As Jay and Carlos start bickering, Lonnie bursts open the door and Mal quickly covers the spell book.

"There you are, Rain, Mal! I was looking for you guys. You know, all the girls want you two to do their hair! Me and Jane have been telling everyone!" she looks at the counter "Midnight snack, huh? What are you guys making?"

"Nothing special. Just cookies." she goes in for some of the mixture "Oh, no, no!" They all start to protest but she eats it anyway.

"What? I'm not gonna double dip."

"Feel anything?" Evie asks.

"Yeah, like maybe it might be missing something?" Mal finishes.

Lonnie makes a face as she thinks "It could use some chips,"

"Chips?" Rain questions as she goes and takes out something.

"Chocolate chips. Just the most important food group. Wait, didn't your moms ever make you guys, like, chocolate chip cookies?" she pours them into the bowl. "Like, when you're feeling sad, and they're fresh from the oven, with a big old glass of milk, and she just makes you laugh and puts everything into perspective and... why are you all looking at me like that?" they all hold the same sad puppy expression.

"It's just different where we're from," Rain says, jumping down from the counter while Mal stirs the chips into the mixture

"Yeah, I know. I just, you know, I thought... Even villains love their kids," Rain looks up at her, biting her lip before walking away and putting the ice cream away, as Lonnie talks to Mal, Rain stays by the freezer, hands grabbing a counter.

"Oh... How awful." As a tear drops down Lonnie's Face, Mal grabs it.

"Yeah, well, big bummer, but we have to get these into the oven, so thank you so much for coming by. Really, really have a good night. I'll see you tomorrow." Mal pushes her out of the room.

"Okay, boys, cookie sheet. Evie, oven. Rain, cooking pan,"
