MATILDA...

"Oh, dear. What happened to your glasses?" My grandmother asks the next morning. "T..th....they b...br...broke." I say as I stand there squinting.

"I'll get you your spare, and get these fixed for you." I nod and she hands me my spare. "Th...th...thank you, grandmother. I'm off to se...see Doctor Connor, then of...of to work. Do you need anything?"

"No, dear. Oh, I know I'm a worry wart, but what time did you come in last night?"

Stop!

Please don't hurt me!

Ahhhhhh!

I fiddle with my glasses as the images of blood and gore flash in my mind. "I ca...came home around seven. I...I...I really must g..go."

"Alright, you be safe. Love you." My grandmother says as she sits there watching the news. "L...love you."

When I get to the office, I feel nervous. I know I did something bad last night, I had a relapse. A minor mishap.

Yeah, a little hiccup.

"Minor? Oh baby, you slaughtered that poor boy."

I shake her voice out of my head and find myself biting the corner of my lip. "Matilda?" I look up and see Doctor Connor waiting for me. I get up immediately and go sit on her couch.

She closes the door behind her and I stare at the ceiling. "Everything alright, Matilda?" I nod and keep staring at the ceiling.

"Matilda?" I look away and look at her. "What's wrong?"

"You had him begging for his life..."

I close my eyes and start slapping my head. "When I snap my fingers, I want you to talk to me." She snaps her fingers and I relax.

DR. CONNOR...

I see Matilda relax and her facial expression hardens. "Matilda?" She looks at her nails and smirks. "Sorry, Doc. But Matilda ain't driving this crazy train."

Tread these waters carefully, Ashely.

I warn myself. "Right, well then, it's been a while since we've last talked, Tilly. How have you been?" She takes off her glasses and lets down her hair. "Good, really good. Has the goodie goodie told you about the coworker she wants to screw?"

"No, Matilda doesn't talk about her social life." She tsks. "What a shame right? The poor broad stays home, touching herself like some dirty whore, when she can go out and--you know he had pretty eyes. But they had evil in them."

"Who? The coworker?" She shakes her head. "No! The boy, we had fun but his eyes were bad. So I cut them out. Did you know the average human blinks 4,200,000 times a year?" I swallow hard.

"Really? That's interesting. So does this boy have a name?"

"Edward Nygma."

"He's the boy who you c-"

"No! He's the coworker that Matilda wants to fuck. You should see how worked up he gets her. Doc?"

"Tilly tell me about the bo-" She gets up abruptly. "I see red all over you. I bet you're going to bleed. Let me show you." She was about to strike but I snap my fingers and her facial expression softens.

"Doctor Connor? Ar...are you okay? Sh...she d...didn't hurt you did she?" She moves away from me and I shake my head. "No, Tilly didn't hurt me. Now how about I give you a stronger prescription, like we had talked about."

"Th...thank you."

After Matilda leaves I take a calm breathe. I take out my recorder and press record.

"Matilda Willis Harper, Age 24. Parents deceased as well as twin sister. She's showing signs of relapse. She may have confessed to a murder but I can not break my confidentiality agreement. Her original personality, is becoming more and more violent and the cover personality is losing control. Ever since I had taken the twins in sessions, I've noticed that Matilda has always wanted to have approval. From having praise from a picture she's drawn, to wanting compliments on her attire. I've noticed that if she doesn't get the praise she seeks, she becomes violent. March 4th, 2001. The day of the murders, Matilda's cover personality made its debut..."

As I finish up some more paper work on Matilda Harper I stop what I'm doing and think for a second. She is the key to the questions all doctors want to crack.

Is having a split or multiple personality a real case?

From the age of four till now, has definitely proven that the case is indeed real. I pinch the bridge of my nose and sigh. "You're going to crack the codes, Matilda. I just need to know one more thing..."

MATILDA...

I feel a bit anxious as I arrive at work. Edward greets me with a smile which puts me at a small ease. "Good Morning Matilda."

"Good Morning Edward." He blocks my path and hands me what looks like a card. "Did you know, Matilda. The earliest greeting cards dated back to Germany in the 1400's?"

"Re...really? Tha...that's interesting." He nods as I accept the card. "Th...thank you Edward." He leaves me and I look over the dark blue greeting card. I open it and begins to read.

Dear Matilda,

You are the ray of sunshine on a dreary day. You're a brilliant mind and a nice young woman. I hope we can have a wonderful friendship,

Your friend.
E. Nygma

"Boooooooring."

"Stop! Th...at!" I scowl as I put the card in my bag. "A wonderful friendship? Oh you gotta do something to get out of the friend zone, Tilly." I turn to my left and she stands there filing her nails.

"What if I don't want a relationship with, Mr. Nygma?"

"You always sell yourself short, Tilly. You're a knock out...then again maybe you're afraid."

"I'm n..n...not afraid." I stammer. She crosses her arms over her chest. "I think you are. I think you're afraid he'll like me. Crave me."

"No! Im...im...impossible! You're a bad girl an-"

"You're afraid he won't like the good little Matilda Harper, because you're boring, you're a prude and you don't know how to let loose. But I do, I'm confident, sexy and go for exactly what I want." She stares deep into my eyes and I look away. "You stay away from Mr. N...N...Nygma!"

She shakes her head and pokes her finger into my chest. "I don't think so, I want him." She pushes me into the filing cabinet and I hit it hard. Causing papers to go flying and one of the officers that came in just gave me a strange look.

I scramble to clean up and leave the room immediately.

As the day passes, I keep looking at the time so I could go pick up my new medication.

"I'm bored, Tilly darling..."

I ignore her and look up to see Edward, talking to Kristen. She looks annoyed.

"Are you ignoring me because I pushed you? I barley pushed that hard..."

Kristen pushes past Edward and he looks after her so hurt.

"Kristen is a bitch for treating our man like that..."

"Quiet!" I hiss. "Oh so you only knowledge my presence when I say something about Eddie boy over there? Hmm..."

I get up abruptly and walk over to him. "Hi Edward." He looks at me and I see something in his eye that looks a bit off.

"You seen that too?"

I ignore her. "Hello, Matilda. Is there anything I could do for you?" He asks as he readjusts his glasses.

"I was ju...just wondering if--"

"Look it there, I got an opening.."

"No!"

I smile and take off my glasses. "I was just wondering, Eddie. If we could have a chat in private?" He gives me a raised brow. "It's very important, I assure you." I usher him away from everyone and we stand in an empty hallway.

"Is everything alright Matilda?" I nod and unbutton my first three buttons to my shirt. "Everything is fine, but I want to tell you, you're wasting your time with Kristen."

"Excuse me?"

"She doesn't appreciate you, like I can. And I can give you one...hell of a ride, Eddie." He backs away from me for a moment and I press my bosom against him.

"Pl...please don't call me that."

"What's wrong, Eddie? You don't like me?" I watch him swallow hard. "I...I do like yo-"

"Then you should stop with her. I can show you what you're missing, tell me, have you ever had sex in the photo copy room? Ever choked a woman during sex before? Better yet, have you ever touched a woman?" I take his hand and place it on my right breast.

I hear him gasp and I look up at him through my lashes. "You can touch every inch of me, Eddie. Taste every inch of me. And I can do the same to you."

I back up and go for his zipper but he pushes me back. "Stop! This isn't right!"

Him yelling at me felt like a slap. "Matilda I didn-"

I take off running into the ladies room, not caring who was there.

"S..see? He...he...he's isn't bad..."

"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!" I slap my head and then grip the sink. My reflection gives me an I told you so look and I punch the mirror.

"I'm bored, and when I'm bored, I see red." I say as I look at the blood drip from my knuckles down to my pale arm.

"Wh...what are you going to do?" She asks. I look at her in the shards of glass. "Well Tilly Darling I think you know what we're going to do..."

"Gotta light?" I ask the gentleman beside me. He looks me over and licks his lips. "For a good girl like you? I got all the light you'd ever need." I put the cigarette between my lips and lean over for him to light it.

I take a deep drag and blow the smoke in his direction. "A good girl? That's funny." I get up but he takes my wrist and pulls me back to him. "I didn't catch your name." I look at the man more closely and notice who he is.

"You know me, Officer Wilkins." He squints and then his eyes widen. "Matilda?" I slink my arms around him and bite his ear. "In the flesh." I whisper.

"You look different outside of work. Even sound different." I nod. "I can feel different if you catch my drift." He smirks and turns to the bartender.

"Get this little lady whatever she wants. It's on me."

"You got it Ted." He calls behind the bar. "So what brings you here?" I shrug. "I'm bored and want to play."

"And what do you like to play, Matilda?"

"Call me Tilly, Officer." I say as I stroke his bottom lip. "Tilly..." I nod and see red across his throat so I laugh.

"What's so funny?" I wave off his question. "Come on, I can take a joke. Even a riddle, just not Nygma's riddles. That guy is a freak."

I stop laughing and get up. "Come on, I'll tell you the joke in private. It's a killer I promise." I hold my hand out to him and he takes it.

"Where are we going?"

"To my car." I take him into the alley way and he holds me from behind, nuzzling my neck. "You never strike me for the type of girl who'd have sex in a car."

I bend over and grab the pair of scissors that was taped against my leg under my skirt.

"I'm not." I move swiftly and cut him across his throat. He gives me a fearful look as he holds his bleeding throat.

"Ghhhhagghh!" He gaggles. I push him against the wall and he falls down. "Calling Edward a freak was a bad idea, Teddy. Really bad." I slice down again and again until he stops moving.

My body was exhausted from cutting into flesh, muscle tissue and bone.

I cut into his eye lids and smear some of his blood in weird symbols on the bricks in the alley.

"That was fun."

"Wh...what di...did you do?" She says in the blood puddles. "Correction, Tilly Darling. What did we do. And we took care of a minor problem." I look at the bloody scissors and at my stained white skirt.

My heels click across the pavement as I get into my car. When I look in the mirror a riddle comes to mind.

"What's red, blue and goes oink?"

"T...T...Teddy Wilkins..."
