Once the teens arrived at the Byers household, they started setting up the house. They first screwed all the lightbulbs back in, then Kendall set up the bear trap as Nancy loaded her gun and Jonathan hammered nails into a baseball bat.

They drenched the floor in gasoline and set a yo-yo on a chair, to let them know when the demogorgon was nearby. As soon as they finished, Jonathan ran to his kitchen and grabbed three knives, handing one to Kendall and Nancy, keeping one to himself.

Jonathan slowly looked up at the girls across from him, nodding. "Remember..." "Straight into Will's room. And don't step on the trap." Kendall interrupted. Jonathan  nodded at her words.

"Wait for the yo-yo to move." Nancy mumbled, making Jonathan turn to her. "Then..." Kendall flipped open her lighter, the flame shining bright in the dark Byers house.

"All right. You ready?" Kendall asked, looking between the two as they nodded. "Ready." Nancy mumbled as the three placed the knives against the palms of their hands.

"On three." Jonathan mumbled. Kendall looked up at Jonathan, slowly nodding. "One... two..." Nancy let out small uneven breaths, worrying the older teens. Kendall slowly turned to her with sad eyes. "You don't have to do this-" "Kendall, stop talking."

Kendall shrugged. "I'm just saying, you don't have to-" "Three." Nancy yelled, making the three slice their palms.

As soon as their hands were cut, Jonathan grabbed the first aid kit he left on the couch. He handed the kit to Kendall and she slowly opened it, turning to Nancy. As she wrapped Nancy's hand, a faint creaking echoed from outside, making the teens eyes widen. "Did you hear that?"

"It's just the wind. Don't worry. My mom, she said the lights speak when it comes." Jonathan whispered, making Kendall's eyes go wide, turning to him. "Speak?" She asked, tying off Nancy's wrap. Kendall turned around to face Jonathan on the couch, Nancy tiredly resting her head on Kendall's back as Jonathan wrapped Kendall's hand.

"Blink. Think of them as alarms." Jonathan said before looking up at Kendall. "Is that too tight?" Jonathan asked, slowly looking up at Kendall, so close their noses were almost touching. Kendall smiled slightly, looking down and shaking her head. "No, it's fine. Thanks." Kendall mumbled. Jonathan smiled, tong off the wrap and handing it to her to let her wrap his hand. The sound of someone banging on the door made the three jump, turning to look at the closed door as Kendall continued to mindlessly wrap his hand.

"Jonathan? Are you there, man? It's... it's Steve! Listen, I just want to talk!" The faint voice of Steve Harrington yelled from the other side of the door.

Steve continued to bang on the door, making Kendall groan, finishing tying off Jonathan's wrap and walking towards the door.

She opened the door just enough for her face to fit as she glared at the Harrington boy. "Steve, listen to me." Steve's eyes went wide at Kendall, opening and closing his mouth in shock. "Hey. Kenny, what-" "You need to leave." Kendall interrupted, making Steve shake his head. "No, I'm not trying to start anything, okay?"

Kendall rolled her eyes, shaking her head. "I don't care about that. You need to leave." Steve shook his head, hitting the door slightly. "No, no, no. Listen, I messed up, okay? I messed... I messed up. I can apologize to you too." Steve yelled, making Kendall roll her eyes. "Go home, Steve."

She went to close the door but Steve put his foot in the door, stopping her from closing. "Wait! Wait! Wait! I mean, when we were together... you know... I thought- I thought of Mars as a little brother. All those stuff I said in the alley, I was just angry." Steve rambled before his eyes fell to her hand, his face softening. "Hey, what happened to your hand?"

Kendall looked down at her hand with wide eyes, shaking her head. "Nothing."

"Is that blood? Are you- Wait a sec. Did he do this to you?" Steve asked, trying to push the door open but Kendall kept her guard up, keeping it closed. "No." Steve huffed, still trying to open the door as he met eyes with Kendall. "Kenny, let me in!"

"No. No! No, Steve!" Kendall yelled but Steve ignored her, finally pushing passed her. Steve stumbled into the house, his eyes going wide at what the three had set up. "What is... What the..."

Nancy immediately walked up in front of Steve pushing him towards the door. "You need to get out of here." Steve's eyes went wide at Nancy, shaking his head as he looked around the house again. "Whoa. What is all-" "Listen to me. We're not asking you, we're telling you, get out of here!" Kendall yelled as Nancy groaned, walking away from her and Steve.

"What is that smell? Is that.. is that gasoline?" Steve yelled, when a sudden sound of a gun clicking made him and Kendall freeze. Kendall watched as Nancy raised the gun and pointed it at the boy. "Steve, get out!" Nancy yelled. Jonathan's eyes went wide, leaning forward to wrap an arm around Kendall's waist to pull her away from the line of fire.

"Nance! What the hell are you doing?" Kendall screamed from behind Jonathan as he backed away from the gun's aim. "Wait. What? What is going on?" Steve yelled, making Nancy cock the gun higher at him. "You have five seconds to get out of here." Nancy yelled. "Okay, is this a joke? Stop. Put the gun down." Steve yelled as the lights started flickering, making Kendall's eyes go wide, looking around the living room, trying to find out where the monster was gonna come from.

She could hear Jonathan trying to tell Nancy about the lights while Steve was begged her to stop. Once Nancy noticed the lights she, Kendall and Jonathan looked around the living room. Jonathan grabbed the bat as Kendall grabbed her shotgun, the three going back to back looking for the monster.

"It's here." Kendall whispered, making Steve's eyes go wide. "Wait, what's here?" The three ignored his question, looking around the living room. "Where is it?" Nancy yelled.

"Where is what? Whoa!" Steve screamed when the roof started to collapse. Kendall raised her gun and the creature falling through the ceiling, hardly letting go of the trigger to hit the monster. "Go! Go! Run! Go!" She can hear Jonathan scream as he tried to get all of them into Will's room.

Jonathan grabbed her hand, pulling her down the hallway as she continued to shoot the monster from over Steve's shoulder who was running after her. "Jump!" Jonathan yelled and Kendall turned ahead, jumping over the bear trap just in time, Steve doing the same as they ran into Will's room.

"Jesus! Jesus! What the hell was that? What the hell was that?" Steve rambled, annoying the three. "Shut Up!" They all yelled. He nodded as the monster let out a low growl.

It began to grow silent and after a few seconds, the yo-yo not moving, making Kendall speak up. "Do you guys hear anything?" "No." Nancy whispered, leaning towards her. Kendall squinted, walking towards the door. She slowly opened the door, looking down the hallway and saw nothing there.

They all walked slowly towards the living room. Kendall in front with her shotgun, Jonathan behind her with a bat with nails, Nancy with the gun and then Steve behind her.

Once the Kendall turned the corner of the hall and saw that the monsters had vanished, she grew upset, groaning as her hands went to her hair. "Dammit!"

"This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy!" Steve yelled. He ran to the phone and Nancy was quick to run up to him, ripping the phone out of the wall and throwing it on the ground.

"What are you do- What are you doing? Are you insane?" Steve yelled, his eyes going back and forth between the ground and Nancy. "It's going to come back! So you need to leave. Right now." Nancy snarled at him and not even seconds later, he was out of the house. The lights started flickering again. Kendall's eyes went wide, her and Jonathan instantly going back to back, Nancy running over to join them.

"Here we go again." Kendall muttered. "Where is it?" Nancy whispered, tightening her grip around her bat. "Come on. Come on you son of a bitch." Jonathan grumbled. "You see it?" Both girls asked.

Suddenly all the lights went out. The sound of chittering made both girls slowly turn around, their eyes going wide at the monster behind Jonathan. "Jonathan!" Kendall screamed, trying to warn the boy but the monsters hit the weapon out of his hands, falling in the other direction while the demogorgon tackled Jonathan.

"Jonathan!" Kendall yelled, raising her shotgun and shooting the monster. Nancy instantly joined along, making the demogorgon look up from Jonathan and to the two girls. "Go to hell, you son of a bitch!" Nancy yelled as the monster started walking towards them.

The two girls guns clicked, both out of bullets. Nancy screamed, throwing her gun off to the side as Kendall raised hers up like a baseball bat. She pushed Nancy behind her and swallowed the lump on her throat, ready to lose this battle.

Just before the demogorgon could attack her, Steve ran in front of her, holding the bat with nails and swinging it, hitting the demogorgon right in the face. The two girls eyes went wide as Steve continued to fight the monster. "Steve!"

As Steve continued to hit the demogorgon, pushing it towards the hallway. He got the monster passed Jonathan, making Kendall run over to him to help him up.

"Hey, you okay?" Kendall asked, wiping Jonathan's face. He looked at her with wide eyes before slowly nodding.

"He's in the trap!" Steve screamed. The three turned to him, Jonathan running up to Steve. "He's stuck!"
Jonathan yelled to Kendall, making her nod. She ran towards the couch and grabbed the lighter.

"Kendall, now!" Nancy screamed just as Kendall got to the group. Kendall instantly opened the lighter, watching the flame grow before throwing it into the fire.

The monster screeched in pain. Jonathan rain to the kitchen, grabbing the fire extinguisher and running back to the group at the end of the hallway. He turned on the extinguisher and pointed it at the caught monster, smoke filling the air.

The group coughed at the smoke around them, Kendall waving her arms around to clear it. When all the smoke was gone, they looked down the hallway to find the monster was gone, all that was left of it was a pile of goo in the middle of the trap.

"Where did it go?" Nancy whispered, shaking her head at the bubbling goo. "It has to be dead." Jonathan said as Kendall shook her head in denial. "It has to be."

The lights just above the trap glowed, the lights going down the hall and towards the door. They watched the lights get closer and closer to the door. Jonathan suddenly gasped, tears slightly in his eyes.

"Mom. Is that you?" Jonathan whispered. The blinking lights slowly stopped for a few seconds before they continued outside. Kendall looked up at Jonathan as he looked down at her, the two silently agreeing to run outside, Nancy and Steve following after them.

The four skidded to a stop on the porch, watching as the blinking lights continued down the street. Kendall felt a small smile growing on her face as a sense of relief lifted off her shoulders. She slowly turned to Jonathan a big smile on her face. "We did. We finally did it." She mumbled, jumping to pull Jonathan into a hug. Jonathan let out a breathy laugh, hugging her back.

...

Kendall sat on the chair next to Marcus' bedside, Helena sitting on the foot of his bed, rubbing his leg as he laid unconscious.

The sound of small groan made Kendall and Helena's heads shoot up. They watched as Marcus slowly opened his eyes. Kendall instantly smiled, running her hand over the top of his head. "Hey, Mars."

Marcus smiled, groaning as his eyes adjusted to the light. "Where... where am I?" Helena hummed, making Marcus turn to her. "We're at the hospital right now. But you're safe. We missed you." Kendall let out an airy laugh at her grandmas words, nodding her head. "We really missed you."

Marcus smiled before his eyes trailed down Kendall's hands, his eyes widening at her wrapped and slightly bloody hand. He slowly grabbed her hand, careful to hold it by her fingertips so he didn't hurt the injured part. "Your hand..."

Kendall chuckled, pulling her hand out of his grasp to wave it around, proving it didn't hurt. "It's just a cut. It's nothing to worry about."

Marcus slowly nodded before he thought back about being in the upside down, his eyes widening when he realized he hadn't heard about the boy he was stuck with. "Is Will okay?"

Kendall smiled, her lips pulling into a line. "Yeah. Yeah. You wanna see him?" Marcus instantly nodded, making Helena laugh, getting off the hospital bed. "Let's get you in the wheel chair."

Kendall slowly helped Marcus up off the bed as Helena wheeled a wheelchair over. They sat him down and Kendall walked out of the room, wheeling Marcus as Helena walked beside her.

When they got to Will's hospital room, Kendall let go of the wheelchair, walking into the doorway to see an awake Will talking to Joyce and Jonathan. Will instantly smiled at Kendall, almost gasping in excitement from seeing her. Kendall smiled, giving the boy a small wave. "Hey, bud. You got a visitor."

Will nodded eagerly, making Kendall turn to her grandma. She nodded to them and Helena slowly wheeled Marcus in. Marcus threw his arms out happily as soon as he saw Will. "Will!"

"Marcus!" Will yelled, doing the same movement as Helena parked Marcus right next to Will's bed. Kendall chuckled, her arms still crossed at the doorway as Helena went to sit on a chair beside Joyce. Jonathan laughed at the boys happiness, raising his brows at them. "Do you want us to get the rest of the boys?"

The two boys instantly nodded. "Yes!" They screamed, making Jonathan laugh. He slowly got out of his seat and turned towards Kendall. He nodded his head out of the door, silently asking if she wanted to go and she nodded.

The two were silent most of the walk until Kendall let out a small victorious laugh. "We got them back." Jonathan smiled, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. "We got them back."

The pair walked into the waiting room, smiling at the room. They turned to the party to find Dustin and Lucas asleep, Mike awake next to them. Mike turned his head to the sound of someone walking in. His eyes went wide and Kendall and Jonathan as they nodded, making him shoot up off his chair.

"Guys. Guys, they're up. Will and Marcus are up. Guys! Guys, come on." Mike yelled, slapping Lucas and Dustin awake. The boys shot awake, running passed Kendall and Jonathan, running down the hall to the room.

"Byers!" Lucas screamed, running towards Will as Dustin ran towards Marcus. "Rogers!" Will and Marcus laughed out groans, worrying Joyce. "Be careful. Be careful with them." The boys didn't listen, too excited to see their friends again. "Boys..." Helena warned, making Dustin let go of Marcus.

Kendall and Jonathan slowly moved to sit on the other hospital bed as they watched the party interact. Dustin turned to Lucas and pushed him off of Will. "Move."

Mike chuckled at the boys, hugging Marcus. "You won't believe what happened when you guys were gone." Mike yelled happily. "It was mental." Dustin chuckled out as Lucas nodded. "You two had a funeral."

"Jennifer Hayes was crying." Dustin yelled, making Will and Marcus' jaws drop. "And Troy peed himself." Lucas yelled. Marcus laughed, clapping his hands. "No way!" "Really?" Will asked and Mike quickly nodded. "In front of the whole school!"

Suddenly, Will started hysterically coughing, making the whole room worry slightly. "You okay?" Mike asked, lightly punching Will's shoulder.

"It got us." Marcus said, making Will nod. "The demogorgon." Will mumbled tiredly.  "We know." Lucas said sadly until Mike looked back and forth between Will and Marcus with big eyes. "It's okay. It's dead. We made a new friend. She stopped it. She saved us. But she's gone now." Mike spoke sadly. "Her name's Eleven." Dustin excitedly said, making Will and Marcus' eyes go wide. "Like the number?" Marcus asked, making the boys turn to him. Lucas nodded. "We call her 'El' for short."

"She's basically a wizard. She has superpowers!" Dustin exclaimed, making the two boys eyes go wide. "El's like a yoda." Mike informed. "She flipped a van with her mind, and these agents were trying to shoot us."

Kendall and Jonathan laughed at the kids as they explained everything that happened to Will and Marcus. Kendall let out a happy sigh, resting her head on Jonathan's shoulder as she continued to watch the boys ramble.

...

One Month Later

"Jeez, what's that smell?" Kendall coughed out, waving her hand over her face as she chuckled. "Have you guys been playing games all day, or just farting?" Jonathan asked, he and Kendall stopping at the bottom of the stairs, watching the five boys.

"Oh, that's just Dustin. He farted." Lucas said, making Dustin's face drop. Lucas blew a raspberry. "Dustin farted." Lucas sang, blowing another raspberry. Dustin rolled his eyes, getting up. "Okay." Dustin groaned, walking towards Kendall. He gave her a short side hug before walking to his backpack.

"Dustin farted." Lucas sang again, making Marcus chuckle. He stood up, throwing his bag over his shoulder as he walked towards his sister.

"Very mature, Lucas." Dusting scoffed, making  Lucas laugh.

"Come on." Jonathan said, gesturing his head to Kendall and Marcus as he looked at Will.

"Bye, guys." Will yelled as Kendall wrapped an arm around Marcus' shoulders, the younger Rogers waving to his friends as hey all waved and smiled back. "Bye, guys."

"So, you have fun?" Kendall asked as the four walked up the stairs, Kendall ruffling Will's hair in the process, making Marcus laugh, nodding. "Yeah."

"Hey, kids." Karen said happily. The two younger boys waved as Jonathan and Kendall smiled. "Hey, Mrs. Wheeler." The group all said at once.

"Hey, wish your mom a merry Christmas for me, okay? And you two tell Helena the same." Karen said, looking at the Byers before turning to Kendall and Marcus. The four nodded, letting out strings of 'yeah' and 'okay' . "Will do. Merry Christmas." Kendall said and Karen smiled, nodding. "Merry Christmas."

As they walked out of the house and towards the car, Jonathan wrapped a playful arm around Will, looking between him and Marcus. "So, uh, you win?" Will chuckled, eagerly nodding his head. "Yeah." Kendall laughed, pushing Marcus' shoulder playfully as they got in the car. "Awesome."

...

After driving to the Rogers household, Kendall and Marcus climbed out of Jonathans car, saying their goodbyes to the two boys. Just as Jonathan was about to drive away, Kendall stopped walking, putting her hand on the passenger door. "Hey, Jonathan, wait up."

Jonathan stopped the car with a jolt, slowly turning to Kendall as she dug through her bag. Once she finally found what she was looking for, she let out a breathy laugh, handing him a wrapped box. "Uh... Merry Christmas."

Jonathan's eyes went wide, leaning over to grab the gift as he gulped. "Thanks, um I-" "Ito okay if get you didn't anything. It's, uh, it's not really a present. It's, um... Well, you'll see." Kendall rambled, going to walk away until Jonathan yelled.

"Wait!" Kendall slowly turned around as he leaned to the backseat of the car. Will handed him the wrapped gift by his feet and Jonathan got out of the car, leaning over the top of the car to hand her a small box.

"I did get you something." Jonathan mumbled. Kendall smiled, taking the box. "You didn't have to." Kendall said and Jonathan instantly shook his head. "I wanted to. Merry Christmas." Kendall smiled, nodding her head. "Merry Christmas."

She turned to Marcus with raised brows. "You ready?" Marcus smiled, nodding, making Kendall wrap a lazy arm around his shoulders. "Let's go."

As soon as they walked into the house, they were met with Christmas music and the smell of cookies in the air. They walked towards the kitchen and saw their grandma stir the pot filled with her homemade mac n cheese. When Helena saw her grandchildren, she let out a happy gasp. "There you two are. Go on. Have a seat. Dinner will be ready soon."

The two kids nodded, taking seats at the table where the rest of the Christmas dinner already sat as Marcus looked at Kendall with wide eyes and a big smile. Kendall laughed at Marcus, shaking her head. "Why are you looking at me like that?" Kendall chuckled out. Marcus pointed at the present Jonathan got her. "Aren't you going to open it?"

Kendall looked down at the box and smiled. "Fine." She mumbled out. She slowly ripped open the packaging to find a little white box. She gave Marcus taunting eyes before slowly opening the box. Inside laid a white piece of paper. She slowly grabbed the paper and opened it.

"Got all the songs you liked from my mixtapes and put them on one made just for you. Merry Christmas Kendall :)"

Kendall smiled at the note, looking to see what was under it and immediately grabbed mixtape titled 'Kenny and Jonathan's rocking tape'. She laughed at the name of the tape, feeling a small flutter in her chest.

Helena came into the dining room the mac n cheese pot, putting it right in between the bowl of salad and the mash potatoes. "And the Rogers Christmas Family dinner is ready!" Helena said happily and the family immediately dove into eating the food, talking about any that came to their minds at the table.
