Y/N POV:

As Taehyung turned to leave, my heart wanted to call out for him, but I resisted. He had said he might see me again. What did that mean? Was he not coming back? Was he giving up? I felt an immense amount of sadness at the thought. A small part of me could understand if he did give up, but a larger part didn't want him to.

When I was alone again, I finally let the tears fall that I had been holding back while he was in here with me. For the first time in a long time, I felt completely alone.

The next morning, I woke to the dim sunlight streaming through the window. The headache I had over the last couple days was no more than a dull throb. A little painful but bearable. After dinner the previous night, the nurse had given me a shot of something to help me sleep and it had knocked me out into a dreamless slumber.

A soft knock on the door had me turning. A petite man with messy blond hair peeked in. The look on his face said he wanted to rush to my side, but his jittery movements stopped him from coming in.

"Jimin right?" I asked, with a soft smile.

The blond man nodded, his eyes filling with tears. "You haven't called me Jimin in so long," he said sadly. "I became your Jiminie and that's what you've called me since. My Jiminie."

My heart broke a little at his words. "You can come in," I said, gesturing towards the chair. He came in, his footsteps hesitant.

Jimin stopped at the edge of my bed, reaching out to me as though he was going to hug me, but quickly pulled away. "How are you feeling?" he asked softly, moving to the same chair that Taehyung had sat in yesterday.

I shrugged my shoulders. "A little better than yesterday," I said. "Still some pains but they're not completely unbearable."

"I'm happy to hear that," Jimin said. "Umm... tae talked to your parents last night. He wanted me to let you know that they will be arriving sometime this morning. They finally got a flight. He'll pick them up and drop them off here for you."

I felt a pang of sadness that Taehyung hadn't texted me or called me to let me know. "Oh. That's great," I said. "Thank you for telling me."

Jimin and I sat there in silence for a moment, neither of us knowing what to say. I noticed he was wearing a button up shirt and a tie. "Are you on your way to work?" I asked.

Jimin nodded. "Yeah, but I wanted to come and see you first. I've missed you so much," he said, his eyes filling with tears again. They spilled down his plump cheeks and I wanted nothing more than to reach out and brush them away. The sight of this adorable man so distraught broke my heart.

Jimin wiped his face with his hands, trying to regain his composure. "I'm not sure if you would even want to, but when you're cleared to work again, your position is still available," he said. "There's a temp filling in right now, but she's nowhere near as good as you."

My heart lightened a bit at the offer. "I really appreciate that," I said. "Thank you."

Jimin stood from the chair. "I guess I better get to work," he said. He went to head towards the door, but then turned with a hopeful look on his face. "Can... can I hug you?"

I hesitated for a moment, but then nodded my head. Before I could blink, Jimin had made it back to the side of my bed and was gathering me gently in his arms. He buried his head in my hair, sobbing into my shoulder. Something about his strong arms around me felt so comfortable.

"Please remember us. Please remember me," Jimin pleaded, his tears soaking my hospital gown.

I lifted up a tentative hand then rubbed his back. "I'm trying Jiminie," I said, the name sounding familiar on my lips.

Jimin sobbed even harder at my words, hugging me tightly for a moment before pulling away. "Please. No matter what. Call me that," he said.

I nodded my head. "I will," I promised.

Jimin leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on the top of my head. "Love you always Y/N," he said before exiting the room.

I lay there for a moment before the nurse came in with a breakfast tray, followed by two people I instantly recognized. "Mama! Daddy!" I said, my eyes filling with tears.

"My precious girl," my mom said running to my side, carefully hugging me. "I'm so happy to see you awake. Tae's been so worried about you."

my dad followed behind her, taking my free hand. "You've had us so worried," he said, his eyes watery with unshed tears.

I turned my gaze towards the door, half expecting to see Taehyung there. My mom caught my gaze. "Umm... Tae's not here. He picked us up at the airport and dropped us off here. He explained what was happening and thought it best if we had some time alone together," she said.

"Oh," I replied, feeling disappointed but not understanding why. The nurse had said he had spent the last ten days here. In the three I've been awake, I've barely seen him.

My mom caught my expression. "I'm so sorry my precious girl. When Tae told us, I could barely understand, he was crying so hard. It was so terrible to hear," she said, her eyes sad.

"I just don't remember him Mama," I said. "I don't remember anything after Cam."

My dad's eyes darkened at the mention of my ex boyfriend's name. "I don't want to hear about that bastard after what he did to you," he said.

My mom placed a hand on his arm. "Calm down sweetheart," she said, her voice gentle. "It's going to be okay."

My dad's fists stayed clenched at his sides for a moment longer but then relaxed. "I'm sorry honey. I was so happy when you met Tae and when you got engaged. Just the mention of that guy makes me so angry," he said.

"You knew about the engagement?" I asked.

"Of course," she said with a smile. "You and Tae called us right after you said yes. Then you sent me a picture of your beautiful ring."

At the mention of the word ring, I looked down at my left hand but there was nothing there. My mom's eyes followed my gaze. "When you were in surgery, they had to remove it. They gave all your personal effects to Tae. He probably has the ring at home."

"Yeah that makes sense," I said, forcing a smile onto my face. "Probably not safe to keep a diamond ring in a hospital room."

my parents stayed with me until the nurse brought me lunch, but I could see they were exhausted. They had just gotten off a plane and came straight to the hospital. "You and daddy need rest. Where are you going to be staying?" I asked.

My mom gave me a soft smile. "Tae offered up the guest room at the house," she said.

"That was nice of him," I said, feeling an emotion I couldn't name for this man.

"Yeah it sure was. He told us to call when we are ready to leave and he will come back and pick us up," she explained. "Are you going to be okay for a little bit?" I nodded and she pulled her phone from her purse, pushing a contact. "Tae honey? Do you mind coming back for us? I am in desperate need of a shower. I look like the crypt keeper." She laughed at something he said. "You're such a doll." She waited a moment more. "Sure. We'll be waiting downstairs. See you soon." she disconnected the call, the first happy smile I've seen on her face.

She stood from the chair and came over to give me another hug and kiss. "We'll be back later on this evening," she said, moving aside so my dad could say goodbye.

As they exited the room, I couldn't stop the pang of sadness that rushed through me. Was it that hard for Taehyung to see me? He had dropped my parents off and didn't come up. He asked them to meet him downstairs when they were ready to go. Although it hurt, I tried to understand why he didn't want to see me. I couldn't recognize my own fiancé and it was probably breaking his heart.
