Chapter one
First day at Hogwarts
Delaney's POV:
I looked at myself in the mirror, my Hufflepuff robe adorning my body. I made sure my tie wasn't crooked and Hazel said "are you nervous?" "Yeah. A little bit." I said. "It'll go great. Don't stress." I nodded and the two of us went to our first class; Transfiguration. I decided I'd sit with Hazel since there were two to a table. I watched the other kids flood into the classroom, not knowing any of them except Harry. But then I saw the red headed boy from yesterday. I waved at him as he walked in, sitting down next to Harry. He waved back and I half smiled at him. Professor McGonagall came in and began the lesson on transfiguration. It was a simple assignment, taking notes and such. I was excited to be starting school. And I had already made a friend. When class ended, kids left the classroom. When Valerian St. Cloud stood up, kids moved out of his way as he walked by. His eyes scanned each kid in the room, Draco Malfoy staring in awe. Valerian nodded at fellow Slytherins and he glared at Harry Potter. Harry glared back at him. The red headed boy next to him gulped as Valerian smirked as he left. Hazel grabbed my arm and the two of us went to leave the classroom. We stepped out into the hall and a voice said "excuse me." Hazel and I turned around to be met with Harry Potter and the red headed boy. "Yes?" I said. Harry nudged the boy next to him who huffed and stepped forward. "Thank you. For yesterday. You stood up for me and you don't even know me. I just wanted to say thank you." I nodded and said "you're welcome..." "Ron. Ron Weasley." He held out his hand for me to shake. I shook his hand and said "Delaney Lacework." "Thank you, Delaney. I appreciate what you did. I'm kind of a bit scared of Malfoy." "I think Valerian is scarier." "Bloody hell, you're right." Harry chuckled and said "I'm Harry." "I'm Delaney." "I'm Hazel." Harry nodded to her and shook both of our hands. Ron introduced himself to Hazel and a voice said. "Harry, Ron, we're going to be late." A girl stood next to Ron, she stood proudly with her books in her hands. She noticed us and properly introduced herself. "I'm Hermione Granger." "I'm Delaney Lacework and that's Hazel Aspen." Hermione nodded and started talking about schoolwork. I noticed the three of them were all in Gryffindor. Which wasn't that's surprising. "You're a Hufflepuff?" Ron interrupted Hermione who rolled her eyes and glared at him. "Yes. I am." "You're the first Hufflepuff I've met. All my brothers are in Gryffindor." "How many brother's do you have?" "I have five brother's." Hazel and I's mouthes dropped. "Five?" Hazel said in disbelief. "Yeah. Percy, Fred, and George go to school here. Fred and George are two years above me while Percy is four years older. And then Charlie and Bill used go to school here but graduated. And my younger sister Ginny starts next year." "There's seven of you?" I gaped. Ron nodded and said "yeah. We're a big family and don't have much as you can see but we make it work." I smiled and said "and I thought having two siblings was hectic." "You have no idea." "We should get to class." Hermione said as she walked ahead of us. We all followed behind her and went to our next class.
