"The usual?" You smiled at one of the regulars.

Bucky came in most days, ordering the same drink and if he stayed to drink it, he'd hang by the counter so that the two of you could chat. He was a friendly man, although a nervous and dishevelled one when you had originally met. You were happy to see him every day, he did his best to make you smile and you wished you had to courage to ask to spend more time with him.

"Actually, I wanted to know when your break is," he said awkwardly. "Um... I need some help with something."

"I can take my break now, if you like?" You offered.

"That'd be great."

You called to your colleague in the back, to ask her to cover for you, before coming from around the counter to join Bucky at an empty table at the back of the café.

"What'd you need?" You smiled.

He rummaged in his pocket before pulling out a smart phone, lying it on the table. The screen was black, and the phone seemed perfectly clear and unused.

"My friend got me this phone, but honestly I don't know how it works. I told him I'd be fine, so I can't ask him to teach me how to use this thing. Could you maybe help me? I don't even know how to turn it on."

You couldn't help but laugh. Bucky was roughly your age, the age of people who grew with the quick development of technology, it was rare to find someone who didn't know how to use a smartphone. It may be an odd thing to see but it made him seem even sweeter to you.

"Of course," you said taking the phone into your hand. "The button at the top is the on button. Just press it to get it to turn on. To turn it off, you have to hold the button down until the screen changes."

You clicked the button once. It took a second, but the screen lit up. The sudden change in screen, made Bucky jump, almost falling from his chair. A laugh escaped your lips, as you steadied him.

"Are you okay?" You asked him. "It's like you've never seen a smartphone before."

He shrugged his shoulders. "I've not really. I'm not great with technology. This is my first mobile phone."

You shook your head as you laughed gently, shocked by someone who had avoided technology for so long, whilst being in a big city.

"You're so weird," you commented.

"You have no idea."
