Your blissful slumber was broken with a loud noise that terrified you awake. You peered through the darkness to see what it possibly could have been but the panting from your partner beside you cleared it up instantly. Valkyrie had nightmares frequently, it certainly wasn't uncommon for someone who had experienced trauma to go through them, however it didn't seem like hers were going anywhere anytime soon. Nearly every night she was woken up by what she saw, most nights though you weren't woken up as well. She didn't want to disturb you even though you insisted that you wanted to be able to support her through the night.

Some nights however she woke up startled, screaming from the terror of the dreams which woke you up. Her breathing was now uneasy and as you switched on the bedside lamp she didn't flinch. Her skin was covered in sweat even though she wore shorts and a tank top, and it was early Spring. You felt helpless, unable to help her. You couldn't control her nightmares, and neither could she, which left her broken in the middle of the night.

She tried to keep a strong front. She didn't want to seem weak, however you knew she was strong and having to suffer this every night it only assured you that she was strong.

"It's okay," you smiled softly wrapping an arm around her so that she could lean on you.

You pressed a kiss to her dark hair as she slowly got her breathing back to normal.

"Was it the same one?" You asked holding her close.

She nodded her head. "Hela. It's always Hela. All I ever see is her killing the rest of them. No mercy, no care for anything. The whole Valkyrie slaughtered other than me. I don't know how or why I survived."

You couldn't imagine how she felt. Seeing everyone she cared for die and blaming herself for not facing their fate as well.

"Hela cannot hurt you anymore," you said softly. "What is done is done, but you survived and you're safe now."

She paused, accepting your embrace willingly.

"I know she isn't here, but Hela will always be in my head. Every time I close my eyes I see her. I see her destruction, I see the death she left. I do not fear her. I just despise her," she stated bluntly.

"I know Love, but the nightmares are getting better," you smiled. "You hadn't awoken in three nights. You will always be haunted by those you lost and the damage she has done but you are getting your own life again."

She gave you a weak smile, her eyes tired from the lack of sleep.

"Thank you for being there for me," she smiled.

"I am here for you every second of every day," you smiled back. "I am here to help you until everything is all okay."
