When you were looking at buying a house, you thought that it was convenient to be close to the supermarket, but now that you lived so close that you couldn't justify driving there, you regretted your decision, and knew you would regret it further when you were carrying the shopping home. Luckily for you, your girlfriend, Carol, was a literal superhero and would be able to carry the majority without any issues, as long as the bags held up.

You had reluctantly left the house with Carol, walking to the supermarket with your shopping list screwed up in your purse that you had wedged into your pocket. With it being bitterly cold, you didn't hold her hand, walking with your hands in your coat pockets, and head down with your hood helping block the wind from the sides of your face. Carol was walking slightly behind you whilst you powered through the cold weather, wanting to get the errands out of the way.

Your shopping mission had consumed you so much, you hadn't even noticed that you had stepped down from the curb and into the road, directly into the path of a car. Unlike you, Carol had been paying attention. She rushed between you and the car, her forcefully pushing you away and the screeching of the cars break, knocking you back to reality. You stumbled to keep yourself upright as you realised what had happened.

Carol grabbed your hand, dragging you to the other pavement, waving off to the car as an apology.

"What were you thinking?" She demanded.

"What were you thinking?" You retorted. "You could have died."

She shot you an unimpressed look. "I'm Captain Marvel, I would have done more damage to the car than it would have done to me, but if it had hit you, it could have actually killed you."

Your initial annoyance faltered as the reality of the situation settled for you. You had been reckless, even if unintentionally and thanks to Carol you would live to see another day, completely unscathed.

"I wasn't paying attention," you sighed, looking down to avoid her gaze as though you were a naughty child in trouble.

"I can tell," she said. "I'm just glad you're okay."

Carol pulled you into a bone crushing hug, letting a little squeak out of you from the pressure from her grasp on you. This time as you headed off to continue walking to the supermarket, she took your hand, not caring if it was cold, rather ensuring that you didn't walk into the road once again.
