CHAPTER 13:
Bittersweet.
Wanda

"Nifty device. Is that how you found me?" I commented, looking out the window as he tapped on his laptop which tracked Rachel's every move.

"Yes. Aren't you glad I did? We can find Rachel. Together."

Together.

"You say it like it's permanent."

"I hoped we could talk before we get Rachel," He said, glancing at me.

But I didn't respond, my jaw tightening.

"Seriously? You're gonna be like this?"

"Like what?"

"Okay, enough," He pulled us to the side of the road, and faced me.

"Wanda, look at me."

". . .Drive," I spoke lowly.

"Not until you agree to stop acting like a child," His voice was dark and frustrated, and I turned to look at him with the same intensity.

"I was fine. I left because I found out that I had family, something the Avengers hid from me because they were scared. I found my father, the man who wondered for years why my mother left him. Why he wasn't good enough. . ." An angry tear slipped.

"I found home. And I'm not going to trust someone who planned on abandoning me. I'm taking Rachel with me, and she is going to be raised by other kids who don't need to fear what they can do. We. Are. Done."

"How do you he's not lying to you?" Dick questioned.

"Charles was right infront of us. He wouldn't let Erik lie to me," A good man whose goal is to protect Mutants and help them control their gifts would never let Erik manipulate me.

"And weren't you the one preaching about how he was misunderstood?"

"That was before-"

"You don't get to judge him, not when you are a mystery yourself."

Erik is a good man.

My mother. . .I don't know yet.

"Wanda. . .listen, I keep my life a secret to protect you. To protect Rachel," I scoffed.

"What could be so bad about your life that isn't worse than mine?"

"The fact that you had a choice," He spoke softly, "I can't remember if mine was my own anymore."

"What-what do you mean? Dick, are you in trouble?" I asked, curious as ever and I decided to venture into his mind.

"If anything, I've put us in more danger."

"I can get out anytime I want. The problem is I just can't seem to stay away from it. . .this life. I-I've just been dragged back in all over again," He leaned back in his seat, rubbing his face with a sigh.

"Dick. . .?"

"Lying to everyone has been easy because I've learned how, because I know that they can never get close enough. . .but you've always been part of my life. I can't lie to you because it hurts you. . ." He grabbed my hand, and I did a sharp inhale.

"Wanda, I'm a vigilante. One of those who isn't approved widely, not like the Avengers. I used to be Batmans sidekick. . .I'm Robin."
