CHAPTER 17:
This Is Madness
Stephen Strange

“How is she?”

“She’s destabilizing,” I said, watching her relive the most vicious parts of her own life but in a different forms. I kept saying that she didn't do this on purpose, that there is no way she planned it all out and then she forgot, but that's what it's looking like every time I see her replicate her own memories to fit this world.

“Already?!” Wong asked with urgency.

“Slowly. Her Being is trying to force itself to stay sane and to forget what she had gone through. In doing so, she has created a world where Thanos was defeated by Vision, the Avengers were already integrated with this Gotham and that the Titans already existed-”

Wong stopped me, “Wait, wait. . .so when Wanda ran, she used the Time Stone to amplify her own abilities, correct?”

“Yes,” I confirmed with a curt nod.

“And in doing so, broke into a different multiverse?”

“No, Wong,” I sighed, “She created one.”

“That’s not possible, this universe already existed without her there," He insisted, getting closer to my display.

“It did, but she made it her own the moment she stepped inside,” I flipped through her memories until I found two that were similar.

Only one was so real you'd think that everything was normal.

“This was when she went to the circus in Sokovia, and dropped her popcorn,” Young Wanda had tripped on a rock, dropping her treat and more worried about her dirty clothes because of how poor they were.

“And this is when she went, but with Richard Grayson,” She had bumped into him, and that is how they had become intertwined from childhood. No matter the choices, no matter who died or lived, they were always going to find eachother. From that moment on, even if the memories and choices were all fabricated, Richard Grayson and Wanda Maximoff were going to end up together.

“She created a false past, a life that she didn’t live,” Wong realized.

“And she forgot. The amount of energy that it took for her to get out of this multiverse made her memories of the past cease to exist - her own selfish want of being happy, being wanted, being loved forced her mind to create a world where there was someone for her.”

Someone who gave her what she wanted.

“Someone like Vision?”

“Someone better than Vision, someone who would excuse her actions, but that is not who Richard Grayson is. They all have their own lives, their own subconscious, and so she isn’t controlling them.”

“That’s the most dangerous part,” Wong walked up to my collection of her memories, the one standing out the most being her falling into that universe and within seconds, forgetting what she just did.

“She will cause an event with no idea how to stop it, and destroy herself in the process.”

“And with no way to stop it, create a black hole that will destroy multiple universes.”

I learned the hard way when I had even thought about a universe where Christine and I had worked out.

And met the Illumanti.

As happy as Wanda was, that she combined a world where she was appreciated and loved and where she had a family, it would only end in death. With how much she’s started to care for these people, I know that she could see reason. It did make me question why they weren't going after her, but nonetheless she had no right to do this.

“Where did she put the stone?”

I turned to Wong, “What do you mean?”

“I don’t think it was destroyed, look at when she exits the portal,” The memory was enhanced and she fell out, hitting the ground but quickly getting up. Then, her memories changed.

She was just holding it.

The only reason she was able to summon the stone back was because she made a deal with Nightmare, and in exchange he stole an infinity stone from another multiverse.

What the deal was? We don’t know.

Even Nightmare should have rang some bell to them, but apparently it's only me that's the problem.

“Stephen. . .” Wong breathed out, and I glanced towards him.

“What?”

“I think I know what she did with the stone.”

And that’s when I saw it. Not even Nightmare himself could have predicted this, and it’s probably why we haven’t had any activity from him. Wanda - not her current self, but someone stronger and much more sinister - held the infinity stone in her hand before it levitated towards her and inside of her chest.

“That’s why she doesn’t remember. . .because she forced herself to forget until the perfect time.”

AAAAAAAAaaa-
okay so I saw multiverse and now I have the true idea as to where this story is going.
so stay tuned!
