A/N: I really kind of hate and like this chapter at the same time and have no idea why. So, that's that.

They wake up in the TARDIS, but it starts shaking and Poppy falls over from leaning on the railing.

"Oh, this is bad. I don't like this!" The Doctor kicks the console and it clearly hurts "Never use force. You just embarrass yourself. Unless you're cross, in which case, always use force,"

"Shall I run and get the manual?" Amy offers

"He probably did something stupid with it," Poppy groans as she falls on the jump seat.

"I threw it in a supernova," The Doctor confirms

"You threw the manual in a supernova? Why?"

"Because I disagreed with it!" The Doctor explains then sighs "Stop talking to me when I'm cross,"

"Okay, but whatever's wrong with the TARDIS, is that what caused us to dream about the future?"

"How do you know it's the future," Poppy asks "because, none of that seem right,"

"Well, of course we were. We were in Leadworth," Amy says like Poppy's dumb

"Upper Leadworth," Rory gets a glare from Amy

"Yeah, and we could still be in Upper Leadworth, dreaming of this. Don't you get it?" The Doctor taps Poppy on the head with a spanner then hands it too Amy.

"No, okay? No, this is real. I'm definitely awake now,"

"And you thought you were definitely awake when you were all elephant-y." The Doctor spreads his arms out trying to imitate what she looked like,

"Hey. Pregnant," Amy threatens with the spanner he handed her

"And you could be giving birth right now. This could be the dream. I told you. Trust nothing, we see or hear or feel. Look around you. Examine everything. Look for all the details that don't ring true,"

"Yeah, well I'll remember that when Amy could be pregnant with a real baby, Rory has a hideous ponytail, and we're engaged!" Poppy shouts and rolls her eyes. The TARDIS seemed real, but still something was off.

"Okay, we're in a spaceship that's bigger on the inside than the outside," Rory tries to calm the situation

"With a bow tie-wearing alien," Amy smirks

"So maybe what 'rings true'" Rory imitates The Doctor " isn't so simple," he finishes

"Valid point," The Doctor mutters

Everything switches off suddenly, the only light is a faint blue glow from the time rotar

"It's dead,"

"Oh great!" Poppy shouts

"We're in a dead time machine," The Doctor looks down at Poppy. The birds start singing and as Rory hugs Amy, The Doctor pulls Poppy up and holds onto her hand tightly.

"Remember, this is real. But when we wake up in the other place, remember how real this feels!"

"It is real. I know it's real," Amy tells him

"Do you?" Poppy questions

-----&-----

The church clock is chiming as Rory and Amy wake up on a bench outside the Library. The Doctor and Poppy are standing up, looking around

"Okay, this is the real one. Definitely this one. It's all solid," Amy touches her stomach.

Poppy looks at her ring. The idea of The Doctor proposing seemed nice, but unrealistic. Her getting her memories back seemed nice. The ring, how had she got it? The Doctor proposed, obviously. But when? How? Poppy starts getting deep into thought until The Doctor grabs her hand again and pulls her along gently, he knew something was wrong, but wasn't pushing her to tell him.

"You said everyone here lives to their nineties. There's something here that doesn't make sense. Let's go and poke it with a stick," The Doctor runs off, pulling Poppy with him.

"Oh. Can we not do the running thing?!" Amy shouts after them

----------&----------

"Oh hello, Doctor Williams,"

"Hello, Rory love," the older women greet him

"Hello, Mrs Poggit. How's your hip?" Rory asks one of them

"A bit stiff,"

"Oh, easy, D-96 compound, plus. No, you don't have that yet. Forget that,"

"Who's your friend? A junior doctor?" Mrs Poggit asks Rory "and is she a nurse?"

"No," Poppy says quickly

"Yes,"

"Can I borrow you? You're the size of my grandson," The Doctor sighs before leaning down to let her put the jumper over him

"Slightly keen to move on. Freak psychic schism to sort out," The Doctor stares at her "You're incredibly old, aren't you?"

The rest of the residents in the lounge stare at him, then the birdsong starts and the four of them sit down to sleep.

-----&-----

"Okay, I hate this, Doctor. Stop it, because this is definitely real. It's definitely this one. I keep saying that, don't I?" Amy groans

"It's bloody cold," Rory complains and Poppy laughs

"Most British phrase said ever,"

"The heating's off,"

"The heating's off?!"

"Yeah. Put on a jumper. That's what I always do,"

"Dear, I've never seen you wear a jumper," Poppy tells The Doctor as he drags her with him to check out the TARDIS

"Yes, you have," he shouts

"I haven't,"

"Err, yes. Sorry about Mrs Poggit. She's so lovely though,"

"I wouldn't believe her nice old lady act if I were you," The Doctor says eerily to Rory

"What do you mean, act?" Amy asks

"I can see you," Poppy realises

"What?!"

"Your face isn't blurry. But I remember taking my contacts out,"

Amy shrugs "maybe you put more in,"

"Nope," Poppy denies "and I don't remember putting some in in the other world, so how could I see clearly?"

"Everything's off!" The Doctor exclaims jumping down the stairs, Poppy following "Sensors, core power. We're drifting. The scanner's down so we can't even see out. We could be anywhere. Someone, something, is overriding my controls,"

A ginger woman in a dress and leather jacket suddenly appears on the stairs behind Poppy.

"Well, that took a while. Honestly, I'd heard such good things. 'Last of the Time Lords', 'The Oncoming Storm'," Everyone turns to the ginger (well, the other one) "and Poppy, really no idea?" the woman teases "what would she say?" Poppy nearly passes out when she sees her. She looked so familiar. Oh, so familiar, as if she'd seen her a million times. It was almost as familiar as her own face.

"How did you get into my TARDIS? What are you?" The Doctor quizzes

"Question of my life," she jokes "What shall we call me? Well, if you're the Time Lord, let's call me the Dream Lord,"

"Wouldn't it be Lady?" Rory asks and the woman gasps

"Dream Lady sounds a bit silly, doesn't it?"

"Nice look," Poppy comments

"This?" The Dream Lord gestures to it "It's a bit of a mix of everything isn't it? I'm not too convinced on the earrings," Poppy sighs, she knew it was a jab at her and her many ear piercings.

The Doctor throws a bouncy ball at the Dream Lord, it goes through her.

"Interesting. I'd love to be impressed, but Dream Lord. It's in the name, isn't it? Spooky. Not quite there," she disappears and reappears behind them "And yet, very much here,"

"We'll do the talking, thank you," Poppy walks over to The Dream Lord

"Amy, want to take a guess at what that is?"

"Err, Dream Lord/Lady. She creates dreams,"

"Dreams, delusions, cheap tricks," The Doctor explains

"And what about blondies over here. Do they get a guess?"

"Yeah actually, why didn't I get a guess?" Poppy turns to The Doctor in anger

"Oh, trouble in paradise, eh?" The Dream Lord teases

"You always ignore me," Rory adds "well, not always,"

"Shut up Rory! Different problem at hand," Poppy snaps

"Oh, Amy, have to sort your men and woman out. Choose, even,"

"I have chosen. Of course, I've chosen," Amy says, but as she's standing by The Doctor, Rory gets a bit worried, she hits him "It's your stupid face,"

"Oh, good. Thanks,"

The Dream Lord pops behind them again.

"You can't fool me. I've seen your dreams. Some of them twice. Amy. Blimey," she then turns to Poppy "and you dear, my my, I'd blush if I had a blood supply or a real face. Some of the thing you dream,"

"So, what's with the whole school teacher, leather jacket look?" Poppy asked

"Oh, well, one personality is a bit boring isn't it?" The Dream Lord does a twirl "although that description sounds awfully like you,"

Poppy goes to disagree, then realises she's right

"Yeah," The Dream Lord nods "nice and calm one moment, looking like you could kill someone the next. Wonder where you got that from? Oh, I know. You know," The Dream lord gets very close to Poppy "we both know, you just can't remember. But that's your charm isn't it?" She laughs and walks away again "where was I?"

"You were..." Rory starts to explain

"I know where I was," The Dream Lord appears up by the stairs "So, here's your challenge. Two worlds. Here, in the time machine, and there, in the village that time forgot. One is real, the other's fake. And just to make it more interesting, you're going to face in both worlds a deadly danger, but only one of the dangers is real," The birds start again "Tweet, tweet. Time to sleep," everyone feels the tiredness start to hit them "Or are you waking up?"
