A/N - So, series 12 trailer is out. How are we feeling about it?

----------&----------

Amy is floating in space, with The Doctor holding on to her ankle from the open door of the TARDIS. Poppy is leaning against the door watching, a smile on her face.

"Come on, Pond!" The Doctor pulls Amy in and Poppy supports her as her feet hit The TARDIS floor "Now do you believe me?!"

"Okay, your box is a spaceship. It's really, really a spaceship. We are in space!" she shouts into the stars "What are we breathing?"

"I've extended the air shell. We're fine,"

"What is that?" Poppy asks when she looks down below where the TARDIS is floating. A city made of metal was there.

"Now that's interesting. Twenty ninth century. Solar flares roast the earth, and the entire human race packs its bags and moves out till the weather improves. Whole nations..." The Doctor runs back to the console and the doors close.

"Doctor?!" Amy shouts from somewhere

"Migrating to the stars,"

"Doctor?!" it's Poppy this time

"Isn't that amazing?!" he looks to where he thought Poppy and Amy should be

"Doctor, you twat!" He finally hears Poppy scream and he runs over to the doors. The blonde and ginger glare at him.

"Sorry" he says sheepishly before pulling both in "Well, come on. I've found us a spaceship,"

----------&--------

The trio are standing by a window thing which is looking out into the country "This is the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland. All of it, bolted together and floating in the sky. Star ship UK. It's Britain, but metal. That's not just a ship, that's an idea. That's a whole country, living and laughing and..." The Doctor looks for a different word than dying

"Shopping," Poppy suggests and he smiles at her

"Searching the stars for a new home,"

"Can we go out and see?" Amy asks eagerly before The Doctor walks over to the console again

"Course we can. But first, there's a thing," he brings a magnifying glass up to his eye and Poppy giggles. That was new, she never usually 'giggled' it was more snorting or just laughing outrageously.

"A thing?" Amy asks

"An important thing. In fact, Thing One. We are observers only. That's the one rule I've always stuck to in all my travels. I never get involved in the affairs of other peoples or planets," Poppy scrunches up her nose in confusion before letting out a light laugh

"I beg your pardon?"

"What?" The Doctor looks genuinely confused and taps Poppy's nose before looking at the scanner, a little girl appears, but she's crying. "Ooo, that's interesting,"

"So, we're like a wildlife documentary, yeah? Because if they see a wounded little cub or something, they can't just save it, they've got to keep filming and let it die," Amy starts and Poppy looks at her in shock, she'd never thought of it like that. But the Doctor always got involved

"It's got to be hard. I don't think I could do that. Don't you find that hard, being all, like, detached and cold?" Amy looks to where The Doctor should be, but instead she sees him talking to the girl.

"Doctor?" He gestures for them to join him.

Amy smiles excitedly before grabbing Poppy's hand and dragging her out the TARDIS "Welcome to London Market. You are being monitored," A female voice speaks out of speakers.

"I'm in the future. Like hundreds of years in the future," Amy looks around in awe "I've been dead for centuries,"

"Oh, lovely. You're a cheery one," The Doctor comments before he practically whispers in Amy's ear "Never mind dead, look at this place. Isn't it wrong?"

"What's wrong?"

"Come on, use your eyes. Notice everything. What's wrong with this picture?"

"Is it the bicycles? Bit unusual on a spaceship, bicycles." Amy points to said objects

"Says the girl in the nightie," The Doctor comments

"Oh my God, I'm in my nightie," Amy realises and both The Doctor and Poppy laugh. Poppy had left briefly whilst The Doctor was showing Amy something, to put some jeans on, but Amy had stayed the same since they had picked her up.

"Now, come on, look around you. Actually look," Poppy tries but all she sees is a dirty ship, it's not modern. Its old and the people seem afraid of something.

"Life on a giant star ship. Back to basics. Bicycles, washing lines, wind-up street lamps. But look closer. Secrets and shadows, lives led in fear. Society bent out of shape, on the brink of collapse. A police state," The Doctor takes a pint glass from a table and puts it on the floor. Looking at it for a moment then returning it to the table.

"Sorry. Checking all the water in this area. There's an escaped fish,"

"That's believable," Poppy snorts

"Where was I?" The Doctor joins her and Amy again.

"Why did you just do that with the water?"

"Don't know. I think a lot. It's hard to keep track. Now, police state. Do you see it yet?"

"Where?" Poppy asks, confused

"There," The Doctor points to the crying girl.

----------&----------

"One little girl crying. So?" Amy says from her seat next to The Doctor on the bench. Poppy is on the other side of him.

"Crying silently. I mean, children cry because they want attention, because they're hurt or afraid. But when they cry silently..."

"it's because they just can't stop," Poppy finishes, she was a school teacher and a child once. She understood what he was on about

"Any parent knows that," The Doctor comments

Poppy looks at The Doctor in shock. She knew he was old and had a family on Galifray before it... y'know. But she'd never actually thought of him raising a child. The younger looking faces were either blessings or a curses.

"Are you a parent?" Amy asks gently

"Hundreds of parents walking past who spot her and not one of theme's asking her what's wrong, which means they already know, and it's something they don't talk about. Secrets," The Doctor deflects her question

"They're not helping her, so it's something they're afraid of. Shadows, whatever they're afraid of, it's nowhere to be seen, which means it's everywhere. Police state," The girl leaves

"Where'd she goes?"

"Probably home," Poppy answers vaguely.

"Deck two oh seven. Apple Sesame block, dwelling 54A. You're looking for Mandy Tanner. Oh, err, this fell out of her pocket when I accidentally bumped into her," he takes out a wallet/ID of some sorts "Took me four goes. Ask her about those things. The smiling fellows in the booths. They're everywhere," He passes Poppy the wallet.

"But they're just things," Amy says

"They're clean. Everything else here is all battered and filthy. Look at this place. But no one's laid a finger on those booths. Not a footprint within two feet of them. Look. Ask Mandy, 'why are people scared of the things in the booths?'"

"No, hang on. What do I do? I don't know what I'm doing here and I'm not even dressed," Amy tries to protest.

"It's this or Leadworth. What do you think? Let's see. What will Amy Pond choose?" Amy sighs and The Doctor smirks "Ha ha, gotcha. Meet me back here in half an hour,"

"What are you going to do?" Poppy questions

"What I always do. Stay out of trouble," she raises an eyebrow and he stands up before turning to look at them "Badly,"

The Doctor jumps over the bench and Amy shouts back at him

"So, is this how it works, Doctor? You never interfere in the affairs of other peoples or planets, unless there's children crying?"

"Yes,"

----------&----------

The two companions walk along the city until Mandy's voice rings out

"You two are following me. Saw you watching me at the marketplace,"

"You dropped this," Poppy says casually, bringing out Mandy's wallet.

"Yeah, when your friend kept bumping into me," she snatches it off her hands

"What's that?" Amy refers to the circus tent in the middle of the path.

"There's a hole. We have to go back,"

"A what? A hole?" Amy opens up the yellow gates and kneels down to pick the lock

"Are you stupid? There's a hole in the road. We can't go that way. There's a travel pipe down by the airlocks, if you've got stamps. What are you doing?"

"Oh, don't mind me. Never could resist a keep out sign. What's through there? What's so scary about a hole? Something under the road?"

"Nobody knows. We're not supposed to talk about it,"

"About what?" Poppy stays with Mandy. Her natural instincts were kicking in and she was worried for the girl. Why was she crying?

"Below,"

"And because you're not supposed to, you don't?"

"Watch and learn," Amy is still trying to pick the lock

"You sound Scottish,"

"I am Scottish. What's wrong with that? Scotland's got to be here somewhere,"

"No. They wanted their own ship,"

"Hmm. Good for them," Amy mutters

"Nothing changes," Poppy comments, walking through the yellow gates to sit on a bucket.

"So, how did you two get here?"

"Oh, just passing through, you know, with a guy," Poppy answers somewhat mysteriously

"Your boyfriend?"

"I guess,"

"Oh,"

"What?" Mandy looks from Poppy to Amy "Nothing. It's just, I'm getting married. Funny how things slip your mind,"

"Married?!" Poppy exclaims "please tell me it's to Rory," Poppy might cry if they broke up. She felt unusually protective of their relationship. Them not being together... It was just wrong.

"Yeah, shut up, married. Really, actually married. Almost definitely,"

"When?" Mandy asks

"Well, it's kind of weird. A long time ago tomorrow morning. I wonder what I did?" Amy unlocks the padlock "Hey, hey. Result! Coming?"

"No!"

"Yes," Poppy sits next to Amy so they can both crawl in.

"Suit yourself,"

"Stop! You mustn't do that!"

They go inside the workman's hut, ignoring Mandy's warnings. Amy finds a wind-up torch and well, winds it up. When the light appears, a red tentacle is in front of them

"Oh, my God," Poppy's eyes widen

"That's weird. That's..." Amy trails off and the tentacle starts trying to attack them. The companions back out of the tent, but people in cloaks are waiting for them. Two point their rings at each girl and gas is emitted, both pass out.

Unknowingly, one is taken to a voting booth, the other the dungeon when the booth doesn't accept her.
