Summer's beauty filled a south Californian city. From the windows of a tour bus and the eyes of a broken heart, it seemed barren and dull. For too many days, Chris' friends kept their distance, but his lingering frown was getting concerning.

"Chris," Angelo addressed him as he walked into the living room area. "You can't stay cooped up in this bus depressed all day."

He didn't dare look away from the window, "Who says I can't?" He muttered.

"Me." Ricky snit. "Ange is right. You're getting pathetic. We have a day off today, let's use it. I have a friend that works at a sports bar in town. Let's go get some wings and watch the game."

"I don't want to go out. I don't feel well." Chris softly replied.

Angelo and Ricky shared a look of annoyance. Being the partners in crime they were, they wordlessly put a plan into action. The two grabbed Chris and pulled him onto the bus floor. Then they forced him to stand up.

"You aren't sick. Just heart broken. You're coming with us, whether you like it or not." Angelo said.

"Maybe we can find you a hot piece of ass too. Get your mind off that cheating bitch!" Ricky beamed. "No go get ready. Make yourself look pretty."

Chris moped towards the bathroom. "I'm still not happy about this."

"You'll thank us later." They both replied in unison.

A greeter sat the three friends at a table. Ricky and Angelo instantly fell trance to the football game on the TV screen above the bar. Chris took a look around and saw nothing that excited him. He crossed his arms over the table and laid his head over them. Meanwhile, their waitress came to greet them.

"You didn't tell me you were going to come down." She said to Ricky.

"Thought I'd surprise you." He stood up from the table and hugged her. Then he gestured towards the table, "This is my drummer Angelo, and our frontman, Ch- Chris! Stop being a rude anti-social fuck."

Angelo gave Chris a nudge. He finally lifted his head, but fell speechless when he saw the waitress stood in front of their table. Her body was the perfect hourglass and her face was beautiful, glowing like a full moon.

"Sorry about him. He's dealing with a breakup." Ricky informed her.

She giggled, "It's alright. I understand. I just broke up with my boyfriend as well."

He gave her a questioning look, "What happened?"

"He, um, he decided he couldn't take being with me like this anymore. He wanted who I used to be. It's not important though." She shrugged.

Ricky put his hand on her arm lovingly, "Are you sure? Because I will not hesitate to take my whole band to his house and kick his ass."

She giggled, "I'm sure. I'm getting past it. I do need to get back to work though." The waitress turned towards them. "My name's Devin, by the way. Can I start you guys off with some drinks?"

"Dev, come on. It's us." He joked as he sat back down. "Just skip to the wings."

"I should've known better." She teased him. "What kind?"

"Again, it's us. Give us one tray of each. Three Cokes too." Ricky told her.

"Alright, I'll be back soon. I get off my shift in ten minutes so I'll come join you when I'm done."

The waitress walked off with orders in her head. Chris still had yet to say a word. It was in that moment they realized she had put him into a complete trance. Chris' eyes were still stuck staring in the direction she had walked towards.

"You think she's hot, don't you?" Angelo asked him. "Chris?"

"Huh? ...What? No. No. I mean... She's kind of cute." He murmured.

"Oohh, I knew you liked her!" He teased with a large smile on his face.

Chris blushed but didn't make another comment. He was hoping the others would just move on from the topic. No chance of that.

"She's a sweetheart. You really should go for her, Chris." Ricky suggested, to which his friend just shrugged.

Angelo rolled his eyes, "We've got to set them up. Before we do though, what's up with her ex and all?"

"Oh, that's the one thing about her that you might not be into." He told Chris. "I don't know, you might not care. She was born a man, and met her ex while she was just crossdressing. Then she underwent a few surgeries to turn into a woman. If I remember right, just breast implants, gender reassignment, and some procedure that brought down her Adam's apple."

"Probably ass implants too." Angelo commented.

"No, that's her real ass." Ricky laughed. "Anyways, her ex stayed with her through all of it. She just got out of recovery for the last procedure a few weeks ago and I guess he decided it was too much for him."

"What an asshole." Chris muttered.

"So are you going to go for her?" Angelo asked.

With a bashful smile, he shrugged. However he didn't say anything else because she walked up to their table. Devin set down three sodas for them, then told them she'd be back in a few minutes with their food. Chris couldn't help himself from watching her leave. He was infatuated with her. Moments later she returned with several plates of wings and set them on the table. Devin left to go change out of her work uniform before joining them.

"Okay, you have to promise me you'll actually speak to her when she comes to sit with us." Ricky stated. Then he was distracted by his other companion, "Did you just drink from my glass?"

"You act like we've never swapped spit before." Angelo joked in return.

He snickered, "Okay, fine. You've got me there."

"You're such a weirdo." He teased him.

"But I'm your weirdo." Ricky smiled and stole a kiss from him.

Angelo laughed, "That, you are. You wanna go see a movie after this?"

"Sure." He said, then took another blissful kiss from his boyfriend.

Chris sighed, "I wish I had what you two do."

"Well here's your chance." Ricky whispered just as Devin came to sit with them. He looked over at his old friend, "Sit across from me so we can talk better."

Devin didn't question it as she took it innocently. She hadn't realized that sitting across from him meant sitting next to Chris. He, of course, was not complaining. Ricky gave him a deadly stare to tell him to get the balls to speak to her.

"Sorry, a-about the bad introduction earlier." He said to her. "I'm Chris."

"So I've heard." She teased him. "Devin. It's nice to finally meet some of Ricky's band. I've heard a lot."

"Good things, I hope." Angelo scoffed.

She thought for a moment, "Questionable, some of it, but yes mostly good things."

"Are you, um, are you going to go to the show tomorrow night?" Chris stammered out his sentence. He was still in awe taking in every flawless inch of her skin.

"Yeah, I am. I can't wait to meet everyone else. I'm looking forward to hearing you sing." Devin smiled as she pat his leg.

He forced up some confidence, "It'll be nice to have such a beautiful woman watching me."

She was shocked, but happy at his comment. The beauty turned bashful and glanced away to hide her rosy cheeks, "I'm far from beautiful."

"What?" He questioned in shock. "Are you kidding? You're drop dead gorgeous. I haven't been able to take my eyes off of you."

"Well, thank you. I'm sure you have tons of gorgeous women falling over you all the time though." Devin said.

"Not like you." He replied. "There's something so different about you. I like it, a lot."

"We were going to go see a movie after lunch." Ricky softly interrupted them, "Dev, maybe you could show Chris around town a little?"

She was quick to reply, "I'd love to! I mean, if you want me to."

Chris grinned widely. "I'd love that."

"Babe, it looks like that movie you wanted to see if playing at a theatre just down the street." Angelo said as he looked at his phone. "There's a showing in about ten minutes."

Ricky glanced at Chris and winked, "We should get out of here then. I'll see you at the show tomorrow, Devin."

He set some money on the table to cover their half of the bill. Ricky and Angelo quickly got out of the bar to give them their time together. Chris glanced over at Devin. When their eyes met, they both shyly glanced away.

"Um... I, I really meant it when I said you were beautiful. Maybe, if you're up to it, I could take you out to lunch before the show tomorrow?" He managed to ask.

"I'd love to." Devin smiled. "You're a very handsome gentleman yourself."

"I-..Nah, but I'll try to look better for you." He attempted to be smooth.

Devin giggled. She leaned over and delicately kissed his cheek. Chris grew an incredibly dorky smile on his face as he felt butterflies swarm in his previously rotting stomach.
