Backstory: her and her twin brother Tomura grew up together until Tomura started to lose control over his quirk. Mao and Tomura ran away from their home after Tomura accidentally killed their mom. During the night Tomura left to get them some food and while he was gone Hawks came in and took Mao under his wing. When she turned 15 he enrolled her into UA to help her become a hero. Hawks gave her special gloves that allows her to interact/touch with thing and people without worrying about decaying people unless she wants to
