Chapter 2

Pearl's POV

"She's kind of cute," Pale said as Pacific swam around the room.

I laughed. "She's like mini me!"

She did look like a younger version of me. Same color and feel of the hair, blonde and a little straw-like.

We also have similar eye color. Mines are green and her's are hazel.

"Yeah," Pale agreed.

The door swung open.

"Okay Pale," Matthew said swimming in followed by Caspian. "I'm here to see your daughter."

"You know Matthew, if you call her my daughter she's your niece," Pale said.

Caspian and I doubled over laughing.

"Can I see Pacific?" Matthew asked. "We'll discuss this later."

Matthew gave Pale the evil eye.

Pacific swam down from the ceiling. Her purple tail shimmered in the sea water and her blonde hair covered her face.

She giggled as she pushed it behind her.

"Hey Pacific," Matthew said.

"Wow, I never knew you had a thing with babies," Pale said.

"Shut up," Matthew said.

Pale laughed.

Pacific giggled as she swam over to Caspian.

"Hey," he said. "She reminds me of my little sister."

Then I got a sharp pain in my chest, my heart sunk.

I realized who Pacific looked like. She looked like Sailor, my younger sister who died of a shark attack.

"Matthew, Caspian can you please just leave me and Pale alone for a moment?" I asked.

"But Pearllll," Matthew wined.

Caspian did his pouty face too.

"Just give Pearl and me some space," Pale said swimming up to Caspian.

"But we don't want to leave," Caspian said firmly standing his ground.

"Excuse me?" Pale said. "I'm the royal princess of Atlantica, you have to do what I say."

"Excuse me," Matthew said pushing Caspian away from his sister. "I'm the prince, you can also do what I say."

"Tiara," Pale said pointing the sparkly crown on her head.

"Trident," Matthew said pointing to the bronze trident, now almost the same size as him.

"In two months, I'm going to be queen," Pale said. "And then you have to listen to me."

"Well, until then, I don't have to listen to you!" Matthew said.

"Just get out! This is my room!" Pale yelled, I saw her face become red.

"Fine!" Matthew yelled. "Just don't expect me to talk to you ever again! I thought the sea would change you but it didn't! I hated these fights and we haven't had them till now!"

Caspian and Matthew filed out of the room and closed the large bronze door with a slam.

"Pale thanks for that," I said.

"No problem," Pale said.

I could tell she was upset, Matthew has never talked to her that way.

Pacific swam down from the ceiling and clung to Pale's hair.

"Pacific, we aren't going anywhere," Pale said laughing

"Fishy!" Pacific said giggling.

"How do you think she is hanging on? You know, with the whole human mermaid switch drama?" I asked.

"I think she is doing fine," Pale said. "She seems to like it here."

Pacific giggled as she wrapped herself in Pale's hair like it was a brown towel.

"That doesn't hurt?" I asked.

Pale shook her head. "No not really."

"That's weird, it hurt a lot when she clung on to me."

Pale shrugged.

"So why did you want Matthew and Caspian out?" Pale asked.

"It's just it's a little personal," I said rubbing my shoulder.

"You can tell me anything," Pale said hugging me.

"Okay," I said taking a deep breath in. "Remember when I told you about Sailor, my little sister who died from the swarm of sharks?"

"Yeah," Pale said nodding.

"Apart from the tail color, Pacific looks a lot like Sailor. And I just miss her so much," I said.

"Pale don't put yourself through this. You've already gone through your family missing. You need a break."

I shrugged. "I guess so," I said.

Pacific let go of Pale's hair and sat in my lap.

"And besides, you'll be moving back in with your family, you won't get to be in this room all day," Pale said.

"No put through," Pacific said pouting.

"Okay I won't act like this," I said ruffling Pacific's hair. She squealed.

"Good," Pale said. "Now I better go get Matthew and Caspian."

Suddenly, the door bursted open.

Matthew was standing there looking pleased with Caspian behind him.

"We were just outside the door," Matthew said smirking.

"I thought you said you weren't talking to me?" Pale said.

"Oh great," Matthew said rolling his eyes. "Just let me see Pacific again."

Pacific swam out behind me and swam over to Matthew and Caspian.

"Fishy!" She said giggling.

"I think fishy is her favorite word," Pale said.

"I can't agree more," I said.

I heard a knock at Pale's door.

"Who is it?" Pale yelled.

"Amphrie."

"Come on in," Pale yelled.

The door opened and Amphrie slipped inside.

The crown representing her queenship glittered almost as much as her hot pink tail.

Her thick black hair waved around her head.

Pacific left Matthew and swam over to Amphrie.

"Pearl you got so small," Amphrie said laughing.

I couldn't help smiling either.

"Queen Amphitrite," Caspian said. "That's Pacific, your granddaughter."

Amphrie laughed.

"She is very pretty and would make a very fine siren, you must teach her Pale," Amphrie said.

"Teach her how to siren sing? I'm not even a siren," I said.

"Then Pearl, your sister can teach her some time," Amphrie said.

Pale stifled a nodded.

I nodded too.

Pacific giggled. "Fishy!" She said pointing to Amphrie's tail.

"It's her favorite word," Pale and I said at the same time.

"I can see that," Amphrie said laughing.

"I want dad to see her," Pale said. "When will he get back from his business trip?"

"In fact, he is back, and he wants to talk to you Pale, and you too Matthew," Amphrie said.

"Pearl, watch Pacific, I'll be right back," Pale said as she and Matthew shot out of the room.
