It was the day after the Carnival and I was finally going on my date with Spencer.

Gosh, I was so nervous. What was I gonna say? What should I do? What if he tries to hold my hand and it gets really sweaty? I don't know, I'm starting to think this date was a bad idea.

"Relax girl, you look like a fish on land right now." Amanda laughed as she touched up my hair and makeup, clearly noticing the pure terror across my features.

"You noticed?" I sighed.

"Mhm." Mere agreed from my bed as she lied on her stomach facing Amanda and I.

"I'm just really nervous." I said, my stomach doing somersaults internally.

"Ly there's nothing to worry about. It's lunch." Amanda said, finishing up my makeup.

"Yeah. With Spencer Hastings," I added. "The guy I've crushed hard on for the past four years of my life."

Mere twirled her hair with her finger as Amanda backed up with a smile. "Voilà, a masterpiece!"

I rolled my eyes playfully as I stood up, grabbing my outfit that I was going to wear and walking to the bathroom.

"Ly where do you think you're going?" Amanda asked.

I furrowed my brows, "Going to change?" I asked more than answered as I had one foot in the bathroom.

She walked up behind me, grabbing my shoulders and dragging me towards my body mirror. "You gotta see my masterpiece first!"

Rolling my eyes again, I looked at my reflection in the mirror as I stood there in awe.

Amanda had added perfect beach curls to my naturally chestnut brown locks. My makeup was light and looked perfect for going out for lunch with mascara and a little eyeliner added. My lipstick was a soft cherry colour that had been paired with some light blush to the apples of my cheeks.

"It all looks stunning Amanda. Thank you." I smiled at her, giving her a quick hug before running to the bathroom to change.

My outfit consisted of a red flowery top paired with some ripped jeans and a pair of white converse to go along with it.

After I had finished changing, I walked out of my bathroom to meet Amanda's and Mere's wide eyes. "Wow, did we ever do a good job." Mere smiled.

"Teamwork." Amanda cheered, fist bumping Meredith.

I just laughed, "Thank you both. If it wasn't for you guys, I would probably be leaving this house in sweats and a hoodie."

They both winced and breathed out in horror, "Thank god for us then." Amanda said.

I laughed as I checked the time on my watch, 11:47am. Spencer should be showing up in about thirteen minutes. "Spencer will be here soon, we should go downstairs and wait." I suggested.

They nodded as we all headed downstairs and I met eyes with Calvin in the kitchen.

"Woah," His eyes widened at my appearance. "What's all this for?" He asked, referring to my hair, clothes and makeup.

"Ly has her date with Spencer today, remember?" Mere butted in.

He nodded, "Hm, will your brothers have second thoughts when they see what you're wearing?"

I furrowed my brow, "What's wrong with what I have on?" I asked.

"I can see your kneecap." He pointed to my bare knee where a hole was.

I rolled my eyes, "Oh please. These are ripped jeans, stupid."

He gasped, placing a hand on his chest. "Stupid?" He retorted. "I am most definitely not stupid! My mom calls me her little smarty pants."

I snorted, "Little?"

"You referring to my big muscles there, Reynolds?" He asked, raising his brows and leaning back onto the counter.

"Try your big lumps of fat." I retorted.

He only responded in mimicking my voice which only made me mimic his voice back.

"What is happening here? You guys are acting like two year olds." Dylan accused, walking in.

"He started it first!" I exclaimed, sticking my tongue out towards Calvin.

He only mimicked me soundlessly as Dylan ended the bicker, "You going soon?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm just waiting for Spencer to come." I replied, finally turning around to face him as his eyes widened.

Just then Lucas and Aaron both walked in, "That's not allowed." Dylan stated, shaking his head.

"What isn't?" I asked annoyed, placing a hand on my hip.

"To look this pretty on a date! Nope, I'm not allowing it." He continued.

"Dyl, I appreciate the compliment but I'm wearing this. I have nothing else to wear anyways." I lie.

"You look very beautiful Ly." Aaron smiled at me, kissing my forehead.

"I second that." Lucas agreed with a small smile.

"Thank you guys." I smiled, leaning against the counter beside Calvin.

"Meh," Calvin shrugged from beside me, looking me up and down. "You look okay."

"Jerk." I mumbled, shoving my shoulder into him.

"Here we go again." Lucas sighed, rolling his eyes at our childish behaviour.

He stumbled over a little, losing his balance, "That was quite uncalled for you know."

"Meh," I mimicked him with a smirk and a shrug of my shoulders. "It was called for."

Before he could say anything else, there was a knock on the door and my heart immediately began beating faster and faster. "He's here! You guys need to leave." I ordered to Calvin and my brothers.

"Um excuse me, I'm perfectly fine standing here, thank you." He smiled at me with amusement.

"Sorry Ly, we have to make sure he's eligible enough for a first date." Aaron said, crossing him arms across his chest.

I sighed, my hand on the doorknob, "Didn't we go through this last night?" I exasperated.

Aaron was about to speak up before Calvin interrupted, "Fine. We won't say anything to him."

Dylan opened his mouth to protest before closing it, "Fine." He huffed.

"Thank you." I said, annoyed before opening the door to reveal Spencer standing there with a small orchid in hand.

He stood there in awe, looking me up and down, before his eyes met mine. "You look stunning." He smiled.

I blushed, looking down in embarrassment. "Thanks."

He took a step closer, softly lifting my chin up with his index finger. "Here," He whispered, handing me the orchid. "I got you something."

I smiled widely and took a small sniff of the fresh flower. "It's beautiful, I love it." I sighed dreamily.

He just smiled back, "I'll be right back, come in. I just have to grab my purse."

He nodded, as I opened the door wider and he stepped inside to immediately meet eyes with all three of my brothers plus Calvin and Amanda, and Mere.

"Hey Spencer." Amanda greeted with a friendly smile.

"Oh hey Amanda, hey Meredith," He greeted back and then turned to my brothers and Calvin. "Hey guys."

As soon as I grabbed my purse from my room, I walked over to him. "You ready?" I asked.

He nodded with a smile, "Yeah let's go."

With one last smile and wave goodbye, we were walking to his car. Before we could get there though, Lucas ran out of the house and called out, "Be safe Ly, call us if any problems!"

I rolled my eyes, "Okay, bye Lucas!" I called as Spencer held the passenger door open for me.

I slid into the seat with a thank you as he shut the door and ran to the driver's seat. With one roar of the engine to life, we were off.

"So I was wondering," I started, looking out the window dazedly.

"Mm." He answered, egging me on to continue.

I laughed, "Where are we going exactly?"

"You'll find out soon enough. It's a surprise." He smiled, glancing over at me before returning his eyes to the road.

"Okay." I smiled, my anticipation growing wilder and wilder with each passing second.

With just a couple more minutes of driving, we had gotten to where our date would be.

He parked his car alongside a road that had forestry on either side, "We're here." He smiled at me as he got out.

I soon followed his actions, "I don't really understand." I said dubiously.

"You will," He smiled, reaching out his hand for me. "C'mon."

I smiled widely at his adventurous mood as I grabbed his hand and led me into the woods.

The electricity spiked upwards from my fingertips to my head and dispersed throughout my body as our fingers interlocked.

We walked alongside a pre-made trail, hand in hand as we walked up a fairly steep hill. "You okay?" He asked, looking at me.

"Yeah." I smiled up at him as he returned a smile back.

"Good, we're almost there." He answered as I stepped over a tree branch that the dirt had swallowed partially.

My shoulders brushed across the small twigs and leaves of the forestry as the strong scent of fresh air hits me and I breath out in pleasure.

"Here we are." He said, stopping as I took in the scene before me. We had ended up on a cliff that was clear of trees that overlooked the city beside Greenlyn. Spencer had set up a small blanket with a picnic basket.

I sighed in awe, "This is amazing. How did you find this place?"

He shrugged, smiling cutely at my reaction. "I just went on a run one day and stumbled across this place. I come here whenever I need some time to myself." He answered.

I smiled as I took a seat on the blanket beside him as he opened up the basket. "Would you like a drink? I have lemonade or water."

"Hm, lemonade please." I answered and he nodded, pouring two glasses full of fresh lemonade.

"Would you like something to eat?" He asked politely.

I nodded, "Yes please."

"I have peanut butter and jam or tomato sandwiches." He said.

"Tomato please." I smiled as he handed me one and grabbed a pb & j for himself.

"Thanks." I smiled, taking a bite of the sandwich.

"So tell me about yourself." He said, making up conversation as he sat back with his legs out and his hand out behind him to help him balance.

I swallowed my food, "What do you want to know?" I asked, looking at him intently. His gaze never leaving me as I blush.

He shrugged, "I don't know, anything. Your aspirations, your favourite things to do, things that make you you." He smiled.

I smiled, "Well, I hope one day in the future, I will become a soccer player," I say. "I don't know, I just feel at home when I'm playing it. The adrenaline rush that hits you when you're running down that field trying to grab a score is just so exhilarating for me. I've played soccer for as long as I can remember and it's just always been some part of me."

He smiles, "Yeah, I know what you mean. I feel the exact same way about football. It's just the awesome vibe you get off of doing something you love, I guess." He chuckles.

"Yes! I totally agree." I exclaim, smiling as our eyes meet.

We're both staring back into each others eyes as our faces are plastered with huge smiles.

"You should really smile more," He says. "It's a good look on you."

I blush instantly, as I laugh not knowing what to say.

The Spencer Hastings just told you that he thinks your smile is beautiful girl! Say something now, before he thinks you're a complete idiot.

"Thanks, you're hot yourself." I say, with a smile.

Before I realize, Spencer did not call me hot. He said my smile was pretty. Oh no. What have I done?

"I mean," I say with a pale face as my words paralyze and I don't know what to sputter out next.

Say something you idiot!

He laughs, "It's okay, really. It's honestly reassuring that you don't think I look like some homeless guy."

Guess he beat me to it. Oh well.

I laugh, "Obviously not."

"So what's the deal with Calvin? Are you guys friends or?" He asks curiously.

Although he's not showing any sign of jealousy, I can sense some agitation along the subject of Calvin through his tone.

Why would he bring up Calvin? On a date? My mind wanders through every question my mind can come up with. Does Spencer and Calvin have something between them they need to sort out?

I sigh internally before going back to reality and answering the weird question.

"Calvin and me? Friends?" I laugh. "He wishes," I say and Spencer smiles with a laugh. "No, I don't think I see him really as a friend, he's my brothers' friend."

He nods, "Okay." He says simply.

"Why do you ask though?" I ask him, eyeing him curiously. Why would he ask me about Calvin? We're obviously not the best of friends or really friends at that matter.

He shrugs, "I don't know. I guess since he's always with you and your friends twenty-four seven it seems like you guys are friends. But, I was wrong. It's just hard to tell y'know?"

I furrow my brows before deciding to not get further into questioning so I just nod in response.

After maybe a couple hours of talking and being out with Spencer we decide to call it a day and head back.

We talk during the car ride back, as we get further into the car ride, I find out we have a lot more in common than I thought.

We both love the taken movies, we both love to go on hikes, we both have the same amount of love for french and some more.

He went on and on about how great Liam Neeson was in the Taken movies and how he's the best action star to date and will continue being one of the most iconic movie actors.

The date ended rather quickly to my dismay as he pulled up to the curb of my little two-storey house.

I got out of the car as he followed, meeting me at the passenger door. He interlocked our fingers together as we looked into each others eyes.

"I had an amazing time today." I said, smiling.

His eyes lit up at that, "Me too, I'm glad we did it. We should do it again sometime." He said.

"I would love that, we just won't tell my brothers." I laugh and he laughs too.

"Nah, I think it's nice what they're doing for you. Having caring brothers are better than the deadbeat ones. They're just looking out for you and making sure that's everything is okay."

"Yeah, I guess." I smile.

We're silent for a moment, his glance slowly moves down to my lips as I take a hint on what's he's asking.

I answer by leaning in closer, until he closes the gap and our lips move together in sync.

His hands roam my back as he pulls me closer and my arms encircle around his neck. He smiles into the kiss as adrenaline pumps through me.

This is it, Lyla, your crush since eighth grade is kissing you!

My hands feel cold and my knees tremble with the constant nerves that run up and down my body and the speed in which my heart is accelerating at.

I finally pull away from the kiss which only lasted a couple seconds to my dismay, as he leans his forehead against mine.

"I'll call you." He whispers into my ear which makes all the hairs on my body stand tall. My hands are shaking as he sends me one last heart melting smile and he strides back into the driver's seat.

I walk back slowly to my porch as I smile in awe at what just went on. I kissed the guy I've liked for so long and it felt absolutely amazing.

But that all ends when I'm suddenly drenched in ice cold water. I shriek as I look up and sure enough, I see Calvin standing on the small balcony above my porch with a now-empty bucket in his grasp.

He's laughing so hard that I think he might fall over the edge of the balcony and die.

That's not even the worst possible thing to imagine in this moment as I scream at him. "What a nice way to end the perfect day, huh?" Calvin laughs.

"Calvin freaking Porter, you're so dead!" I yell in complete and utter anger as I haul myself through my front door and up the stairs to my room in which the balcony is located.

As soon as I get there, I see him standing there with a smirk as he looks like he's about to burst out laughing again.

"Why would you do that? You're such a jerk!" I accuse and punch his shoulder.

"I'm sorry, I just couldn't help it," He defends. "You gotta admit though, that was pretty hilarious."

"Yeah, you know what? That was hilarious!" I agree in sarcasm. "Wanna know something even more funny? Me feeding you to the lions at the Zoo!"

"Wow, you're pretty vulgar with your thinking, aren't you?" He says. "I don't know whether to laugh or cry right now."

"You're such a jerk!" I accuse, the cold air in the house hitting me as shivers run up and down my spine and ice cold water drips down my clothes. I turn on my heel and am about to walk away before he stops me.

"Wait, Ly!" He says.

"No, don't call me that. Only my friends do and you're clearly not one of them. So just stop making my life a disaster for once, okay?" I argue, before walking to my room and slamming it shut.

I instantly head for the bathroom attached to my room and slip out of my wet clothes before jumping into the hot steamy water that is my shower.

That jerk, I gotta get him back. Someway or somehow, it's going to happen.

Wowowow. It has been way too long!! I'm so so sorry for the lack of updating, I've been so busy with school just starting and all of that stuff.

But 1k reads already?? You guys are the real mvps!! Thanks for all your support on this book, I would never have made it this far without you guys.

One question; what do you think about Lyla's and Calvin's or Lyla's and Spencer's relationships?
