The timing couldn't have been more perfect: two fugitive Telmarines fleeing into the 'cursed' wood on the very same night. Of course, neither knew of the other's plight (in fact, the boy didn't know anything of the girl's existence whatsoever, as she was only a poor farmer's daughter), but fate would soon bring them together. As Caspian the Tenth was aided by a badger and two dwarves, Y/N found herself with a noble talking mouse for an ally. While Caspian slept inside Trufflehunter, Nikabrik, and Trumpkin's cozy home, Y/N waited out the witching hours curled up in the cold divet of a hill with nothing but her own body heat for warmth.

Before the sun had even risen the following morning, Reepicheep, the noblest of all mice, woke Y/N to venture deeper into the wood and meet the other Narnians, who would decide the credibility of her allegiance once and for all. Meanwhile, Caspian stole out from the den with the intent to return to the castle, followed by a protesting Trufflehunter and an apathetic Nikabrik. Just as Reepicheep led Y/N to an area of the forest where the trees grew packed closer together than she'd seen so far, he heard the footsteps of human soldiers nearby and motioned for Y/N to stay put while he dealt with them. When she heard the shouts of these men dissipate, she determined it was safe to proceed and so followed Reepicheep's trail through the brush until she reached the clearing in which she beheld a most interesting sight:

Reepicheep was apologizing (sort of) to a handsome young man for attacking him while a badger shook his head and tut-tutted and a dwarf grumbled to himself something like 'should have just let him kill the boy'. As Y/N sheathed the dagger she'd brought forth just in case, the young man looked up and caught her gaze, stopping dead in his tracks. Reepicheep sighed and waved for them to just get on with the introductions, which they gave without breaking eye contact.

"You are an ally of the Narnians?"

Y/N glanced down at Reepicheep, who shrugged in response (she was coming to learn he was an honest mouse, if not the most tactful), and replied simply;

"I hope so."

She and Caspian shared a small smile.

"As do I."
