The time had finally come.

Whether or not you would be further staying in Narnia would be decided in just a few moments. As Aslan spoke aside to Edmund, Lucy, and Eustace, you silently watched Caspian run his hand through the uprising wave between this beach and Aslan's country. As he turned back, you saw there were tears in his eyes and it just about broke your heart. He wrapped you in a tight hug, one that you gladly returned, cherishing this moment in case it was one of the last you spent with him.

"I met someone who touched my soul, and made my world brand new.
Every moment with you has been a joy, Y/N. I only wish we were given more time."

You felt tears pricking at your own eyes as you leaned back to see the earnest sorrow in his gaze. He forced a smile and you tucked a hair behind his ear with a gentle touch as you replied softly;

"No matter what happens next, I want you to know:
There's a part of me, a place inside that now belongs to you."

He pulled you close for another hug and you buried your face in his shoulder as you heard the distinct steps of Aslan as the Great Lion approach.

Would you be staying?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yes.
"Your place is here, my child," rumbled the deep, magnificent voice of Aslan and your heart skipped a beat in your joy. You released the breath you'd subconsciously been holding in as you looked back at Caspian, your relieved smile growing to match his own. Turning back to the Great Lion, you knelt and swore;
"I will dedicate the rest of my life to bettering the lives of Narnians."
He offered a wise smile and replied simply;
"You already have."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

No.

"Your world is where you must find your way, young one."

You sucked in a breath and felt a sharp pain in your chest. Clenching and unclenching your fists, you tried to calm yourself to no avail, instead feeling tears sliding down your cheeks like rivers of your grief. You knew that there was no argument to be made, no compromises to be offered- this was simply the end of your time in Narnia. You could barely meet Caspian's gaze as you turned to say farewell and choked up completely when you saw he was crying, too. Lucy, Edmund, and even Eustace began to weep as you said your goodbyes to your love and to Reepicheep and as you stepped through the passage Aslan created in the water for your safe return to your world, you felt your heart clench up.

You knew in that instant that you would never feel genuine love for anyone or any place again-
your heart belonged solely in Narnia, and there was nothing even Aslan could do about it.
