"Go!"

"But-"

"Quickly!"

You lowered your crossbow, turning around to allow your fellow rogue Telmarine Caspian the Tenth a chance to escape the soldiers sent by his uncle Miraz to kill him. As both of you were new allies to the Narnians, you had hoped for a bit of assistance from the beings living in this supposedly-cursed forest, but not a hair nor hide had been spotted of any aid against this attack and you were starting to lose faith. Just as you pointed your weapon at one of your pursuers, he fell over with a yelp as if attacked by some unforeseen force. You held your hand up for Caspian to pause, and he did so, returning swiftly to your side as you watched Telmarine by Telmarine topple over, yelping with fear and confusion.

Then, just after the last enemies had fallen or fled, a scampering in the brush led you to tense up again. It seemed you were not quite out of the danger zone. Caspian put an arm in front of you as if to protect you, and although you appreciated the gesture, you gently pushed it down to aim at the approaching creature with your crossbow- but your gut told you not to fire.

Good thing you trusted that instinct. Roughly a minute later, you had gained a new ally, the noble Reepicheep, as well as a decent amount of amusement from seeing Caspian cowed on the ground, wide-eyed and slack-jawed to be attacked so skillfully by a talking mouse.
