Edmund nudged Caspian's arm, muttering something about needing to talk to him and importance and whatnot, and so the King of Narnia bade you a temporary farewell and a smile as he graciously followed Edmund off to the ship's helm, where no one else but the captain was standing and they wouldn't be overheard. The captain, apparently having been informed of this discussion by Edmund at some prior point, stepped away with an understanding nod and went down to the lower deck to discuss the rigging with you- a distraction, Caspian realized.

"Don't break her heart, Caspian."

"What?"

It dawned on him after a moment- apparently, he hadn't been as subtle with his feelings for you as he'd thought. He furrowed his brow, unsure of the implications of Edmund's words, and added cautiously;

"I understand your desire to protect Y/N, but I did not take the opportunity to tell her of my feelings when she was last in Narnia, and I will not forsake the chance again. I would never do a thing to hurt her in any way as long as I live and beyond."

Edmund nodded slowly, a small smile growing on his face.

"I only want to protect her, Caspian. If she had to leave you behind after falling for you, it'd crush her."

Caspian's expression was a mixture of shock, awe, and joy. Edmund blinked twice, then realized with amusement what he'd just revealed to the King. He gave a soft laugh, then teased as the solemnity of the conversation dissipated;

"You really couldn't tell? Then again, she hasn't figured out your feelings, so I suppose you're both hopeless."
