Texting Him

"You really shouldn't text and walk." Leo pointed out as he switched sides with Jason. He answered with a grunt. Jason's eyes were glued to the dim screen in front of him. He scanned the phone, anxious and waiting for him to text back. Leo sighed and rolled his eyes.

"You know, you really should look where you're going." Leo pointed out. He sounded like an exasperated soccer mom. Which was strange because usually Jason was looking after Leo, not vise versa. It was Jason who made sure he didn't walk off the edge of a cliff during a summer hike, it was Jason who made sure Leo didn't get hit by cars crossing the street, and it was Jason who tracked him down while Leo got lost playing Pokémon Go!.

"I am," Jason grumbled. His heart leaped in his chest as his phone let out a familiar ding.

You:
A guy like you gets all the ladies, huh?

Him:
Actually, I'm not that into girls. A few here and there but I'm much more into guys.

Leo rolled his eyes before pulling Jason's arm. Jason didn't flinch as his hands held his phone steadily. Leo ignored the fact that his friend decided he would rather text a boy than thank him for pulling him away from danger. Maybe this was what Jason felt all day, he pondered.

"If you keep doing that I'll stop saving you from the stop signs."

"Mhm, you do that." Jason mused. He typed back a response. Fighting the blush off of his face as he pressed send. The sun was making it harder and harder to see his screen. He grimaced almost cat-like, as if the small inconvenience was a mouse
trying to fight him. Leo shook his head.

"No can do, Superman. This is your first walk in weeks. The last thing you need to get is a head injury," He pointed out. "And watch out, pot hole."

"That makes me sound like a dog. The least you can do it talk about me like I am hum–" Jason's foot staggered in the hole. He cursed as he was thrown off balance.

Leo huffed.

"I'll start talking about you like you're human once you stop looking at that phone! Look at the world around you– I can't believe I just said that." He murmured. He rubbed at the back of his neck with a defeated frown.

You:
What a coincidence, same.

Him:
Oh really?

You:
Very really

Jason found a smile turning his lips. His response made no sense. He tried to be quick and witty, tried to keep the conversation going.. but he felt like he failed. He didn't take it to heart though. He really liked this guy, and who knows, maybe he'll land a date?

"Do I need to take that phone away from you? Is it taking your braincells?" Leo teased. He was getting a bit frustrated with his friend, but only because the minute Leo looked around the scenery was the second Jason decided to make a weird turn and get into trouble. If he hadn't known better he would claim that he was his dad. But that would be terrible to both of their underlying daddy issues.

"You very well know I lost my braincells."

"Yeah that brick that hit you really did a number on ya."

Him:
That made no sense

You:
The only thing that makes sense if you going on a date with me

"I did it." Jason said. The two had walked in silence for a few minutes. Leo had looped his arm around Jason's, linking elbows so he could be used as a guide to the blonde. Leo turned his head. He looked confused.

"Did what?" He asked.

"I shot my shot."

"With...? By the way watch out for that–"

Jason felt his phone vibrate. He looked down just to hit his face on something seconds later. Leo winced as Jason fell on his butt.

"Stop sign."

Jason blinked and noticed his glasses fell off his face. His nose throbbed and he reached up. His phone was on the ground, relatively okay. Instead his skin burned and turned red as pain started to hit him.

"Ow," he said as he reached under his nose. He pulled back two fingers wet with blood. Leo let out a small laugh. He was grinning and reaching into his tool belt.

"You're lucky I keep tampons with me at all times."

"What'd he say?" Jason asked Leo. Leo looked at him blankly for a second. "About the tampons..?" Leo trailed off. Jason groaned.

"No, my phone. What he say?!"

"I'd that seriously your biggest concern right now? You ran, quite literally, into a fucking stop sign." Leo sassed.

The Latino handed him a tampon. Jason shook his head and wiped the blood off by hand. He could care less about the blood staining his face.

Leo helped Jason up and handed him his glasses. Jason put them on his face, gingerly making sure his nose had the least amount of contact possible.

"Phone's right here, he said yes." Leo answered dryly.

"Wait seriously?" Jason started to walk again. He reached out and got his phone.

Him:
I guess we have a date, Sparky.

"Jason watch out for the same stop sign! To the gods above I'm not cut out for this!" Leo shouted.

Jason smiled, he said yes.

He then ran into the sign again.

"For fucks sake." He heard Leo mutter.
