Jack Hatter, a boy who at first, was born into a happy family. He had a loving mother and father, and two great siblings. His older brother, Johnny, was someone he looked up to. His father and Johnny had opened up a shop that sells hats and helmets, which is where Jack and his obsession with hats were born. Johnny was known for wearing a grey top hat that he would always wear wherever he went, even if he looked a little ridiculous for doing so. Jack loved his brother so much and wanted to be just like him.

However, Jack's happy life with his family would suddenly go downhill on one fateful night. A car crash had occurred and the driver who caused it had been intoxicated. The car he had crashed into had three people, two of which survived, but the one who didn't was...Johnny. When news came to the Hatter family, they were devastated, especially Jack. He had lost the man he looked up to, his own brother. But things would get worse after this. After Johnny's death, Jack's father would begin drinking and beating Jack and his mom and sister. Jack's mom became deeply depressed after the loss of her oldest son and started doing drugs. And Jack's sister would cut herself at times. Jack's life had become a hellhole, and it was the start of his slow descent into madness

Years later, Jack would enter high school. He would begin to wear his brother's trademark top hat and even begin to wear a grey tuxedo. But because of this, Jack would begin to be bullied, but despite the beatings from his father and the bullying, Jack would always stay positive and he would soon meet someone who would give him happiness. On another day of being bullied at high school, Jack met a girl named Alice. Alice was a girl who saw what was happening to him and helped him. The two would become friends and would become closer and closer as time went on. Alice found Jack's obsession with hats cute and Jack found her love for Alice in Wonderland cute too and the two would eventually start dating. To Jack, Alice meant everything to him, she was his world, she was a beacon of light to his world of darkness. But that beacon of light would soon fade.

One night, while on a date with Alice, her and Jack had went to a forest where they would spend time alone, the bullies suddenly came out and pinned Alice while they beat up Jack. The leader of the bullies, Richard, stabs Jack in the stomach and then walked to Alice and ripped of her clothes. Jack watched, slowly dying from the blood he was losing, as the bullies began to rape Alice and once they were finished, Richard stabbed her to death as Jack's vision began to fade slowly. While this was going on, a mysterious black substance began to creep over to Jack's top hat and went inside the hat. Jack then heard a voice in his head that said to him...

Voice: Kill them...

Jack saw the top hat, giving off a foggy black aura. Jack began to reach out to the hat using his remaining strength and put it on. Jack suddenly began to feel lust, a lust for murder. He stood up as his wounds healed and the black substance slowly covered parts of his body. The bullies watched in horror as Jack jumped at one of them and ripped his head off and began to brutally murder the rest. Richard tried to run but he was pinned as Jack tore him apart. With all the bullies dead, Jack walked to Alice's body, shedding tears as he covered her with his coat and called the police. Jack then ran off once the police arrived.

Hours later, Jack was considered missing and hours later, his father was found dead in his home by his mother and sister. His father had been murdered via decapitation and the killer was never found. However, Jack wandered through the woods, covered in the blood of his father and the bullies after killing them. Jack had lost his will to live now that the love of his life was gone. Jack laughed weakly through his tears and continued to wander until he came across a well. The well was close by the place where Alice and the bullies were killed and Jack felt a sinister presence inside the well. Curious, he looked inside and was suddenly pulled into the well and fell. When he landed, he looked around and saw a grey and cloudy sky and a field of withered flowers. He saw a sign that said "Welcome to Madland". Jack walked and explored this mysterious place and came across a mysterious lake of a black substance similar to the substance that entered his top hat. Jack then began to laugh weakly, but the weak laughter became a laughter of madness, whatever this lake was, it was somehow driving him mad. Jack shed more tears while laughing more as he thought about everything that happened throughout his life. He decided that he would end his life by drowning himself in the lake, so he dove in.

Minutes passed and eventually, a hand came out of the lake, a hand that had gray skin as Jack came out of the lake and looked at his hands. His entire skin had become gray, his eyes were white and had no pupils. Jack then began to laugh maniacally once again, this was the day that Jack Hatter truly died and a new, much more insane person was born.

Years went by, a mysterious man had discovered the same well and was now wandering through Madland. While he was wandering, he came across a building, a shop to be exact. The man entered out of curiosity and saw that it was filled with a bunch of hats. A man came out from the counter, he wore a familiar top hat and had gray skin, but most notably, he had a huge chesire grin on his face and welcomed him. He introduced as the "Maddest of all hats and the hattest of all mads" the man known as...

Madhat....

The man questioned what he is doing here and Madhat said that this where he sells hats. Madhat asked the man who he was and the man introduced himself. His name was...Death Maniac. Death then asked if Madhat would like to join Killswitch and Madhat agreed, just for the hell of it. From then on, Madhat became one of the most well known members of Killswitch, but this was mostly due to his love for hats and sheer insanity. Very few people know about Madhat's past as Jack Hatter. Madhat would often visit the grave of his lover, Alice, showing that Jack Hatter was still alive deep inside....
