Emma’s POV

I was sat in the sheriff’s office going through paper work. There wasn’t really much to do here today so I was going through the paperwork I had been putting off for a while. It was quite boring but it needed to be done.

After about two and a half pages I had begun tapping my pen on the table out of pure boredom as footsteps came closer as a blonde woman came into my view from outside of my window in the office.

She looked younger than me and was beautiful. As she came into the office her overly pregnant stomach clearly showed when she stood in the doorway.

“Um… are you busy? If you are I’ll come back later. Actually I’ll do that… I’ll come back later,” She rambled about to leave the doorway as I stood up.

“No, wait. I’m really not busy, what can I help you with?” I smiled as she came back into the room.

“You are Emma right?” She questioned.

“Yeah,” I nodded.

Although I hadn’t really lived and worked here too long, I did recognise pretty much everyone in town just not her. She didn’t seem like someone who’d just slip under the raider and I thought she’d be someone I noticed with how pregnant she was.

“I’m Cami, my Dad was talking about you with the Mayor, and I was curious as to what he was talking about. He mentioned that you were the one he was rooting for. I know all he does is get involved in trouble and I wanted to know what he meant. No one likes me in this town but I’d like to know what he is getting involved with,” She sighed.

“Who’s your Dad? I’m presuming whoever he is he probably meant with my son Henry and how the mayor and I argue a lot over who should be his Mum as she adopted him,” I shrugged.

“Mr Gold is my Father,” she stated.

She certainly didn’t look like her father and seemed too sweet to be any relation to him. I’d spoken to Mr Gold many times but he had never mentioned that he had a daughter, not that he really mentioned anything that wasn’t part of what he wanted.

“Well it isn’t fair that no one likes you due to your Dad. How far along are you?” I smiled.

“My due date was last week, so I should give birth any day now,” She chuckled.

“Do you and the Father have any name ideas?”

She shook her head with a frown, “The Father left before he found out I was pregnant and I still haven’t come up with any names.”

“Do you know whether it’s a boy or a girl?”

“No. I wanted a surprise but that surprise is taking its sweet time,” She chuckled.

We carried on talking a little longer before David Nolan walked next to her and smiled.

“Hi Emma,” He smiled before turning to her “and…”

“I’m Cami Gold,” she smiled back.

“David-“

Before he could say anything Cami put her hands on her stomach groaning whilst David gave me a worried look.

“We need to get you to the hospital,” I stated standing up from behind my desk.

“Wait what’s happening?” David questioned looking rather shocked.

“I’m going into labour,” Cami hissed through gritted teeth.

It was clear neither of them knew what to do. David seemed rather shocked and scared whilst Cami just looked scared.

“Well we need to get you to the hospital,” I stated.

I walked across my office as I began to lead Cami towards my car but David stayed put.

“Are you coming?”

He started to mumble something before he caught up with us and joined us in my car.

The journey wasn’t too long so when we turned up at the hospital and got her inside. She was sat in a wheelchair and as she began down the hall I spoke to David.

“Go with her, I’ll fill in the paperwork and phone her Dad,” I smiled as he nodded and followed after her.

~*~ A Few Hours Later ~*~

“You may go in now,” The nurse smiled speaking to the three of us.

We all followed her into the small room where Cami was sat in a hospital bed holding a small new born.

I walked around one side of the bed with David whilst Mr Gold walked around the other side.

“Did you come up with a name?” I questioned.

“Yeah, I thought I’d call her Emma,” she smiled, “If that’s okay with you.”

I smiled at her. It was a sweet idea naming her baby after me, and it felt especially nice as I barely knew this girl.

“Thank you, you really don’t have to name her after me,” I smiled back softly.

“I want to. And anyway she looks like an Emma,” she chuckled, “Do you want to hold her?”

I held the tiny infant in my arms, causing memories of Henry to come back. I had done my best to not think about my decision as I knew it wasn’t right to give up my child no matter what my situation was, meaning that having no memories of my son was better. Just now I had no need to forget it all as I had my son and now Cami had her daughter.

The little baby girl gurgled as I placed her back in her Mother’s arms. Cami smiled up at me. Both Mr Gold and David looked awkward and un-sure what they were doing here. I kind of understood why David felt this way as he was only here as he accidently came into the sheriff station at the wrong time so now he is here, although Mr Gold should be at least a bit happy with his granddaughter.

Granted Mr Gold probably didn’t know why David was in the room so that could make it awkward and his daughter was kind of young and was going to be a single mother. He probably wasn’t too happy with that concept that his only child would be a single mother, but knowing Mr Gold the Father was probably murdered for not helping her.
