One month later, Joey was standing outside the two-story storefront building he was leased, his eyes bright as he looked at the newly placed sign above the front door.

Cup of Joe

The name was simple to come up with, once he sat down to think about it. Even though he carried his biological father's last name, Joey had been named after his grandfather, and seeing as he couldn't have done this without him, he wanted to name his coffee shop after him.

Today was the grand-opening, and he was beyond ready to start this new chapter in his life. Walking inside, he was greeted by his two employees.

"Morning, boss!" Macy shouted, saluting him.

He laughed, his mood the highest it had been since Nevada left. Part of that was all thanks to Macy, who jumped at the opportunity to continue working with him.

"Good morning!" he shouted back before carrying the Grand Opening sign out and placing it onto the busy New York sidewalk for people to see.

Back inside, he and his workers finished preparing for the much anticipated wave of customers. The coffee was brewing, the pastries were baked, and the tvs were set on the news; subtitles running across the screen as smooth jazz played through the speakers of the cafe.

Taking a deep breath, Joey poured himself a fresh cup of coffee, a long awaited smile forming on his lips when he heard the bell chime, indicating the presence of his first customer.

Turning around, his eyes took in the cheerful elderly woman that approached the register. Insisting on taking care of his first, Joey dawned his signature grin and said...

"Welcome to Cup of Joe, what can I get for you?"
