Hazel POV

I sighed as I walked into school, next to me were my best friends, Annabeth, a very pretty blonde girl if she didn't have thick rimmed glasses and braces she'd probably be the prettiest girl in school, Piper, she is a beautiful brunette, I really don't know why she hangs out with us, something about being too smart to hang with the populars and her clothes aren't in season (Told so by Drew) and finally Calypso, she was also very pretty with light brown hair, but is classified as a nerd because of her glasses. Yep we're the school's nerds. I sighed as we walked pass the jocks and populars, Drew and her 'friends' laughed and insulted us as we walked pass. I glanced at five of the jocks those five are the hottest boys in school, they are Frank Zhang, captain of the wrestling team, Leo Valdez, captain of the soccer team, Percy Jackson, captain of the swimming team, Jason Grace, captain of the football team and finally my half-brother Nico Di Angelo, the captain of the lacrosse team, they were also in a band together. I've had a crush on Frank since seventh grade but he has never noticed me. I turned my eyes away from the big five (that's what everyone calls them).

"I wish Percy would noticed me instead of Rachel," Annabeth sighed as we headed toward the library.

"Same, I wish Jason would notice me instead of Reyna," Piper told us.

"I'm on the same lines as you guys but Leo doesn't have girl that clings on him," Cally laughed

"If only we were pretty enough to be seen by them but alas we are not so lets not hang on them," I sighed as I opened the door to them library.

"Why do you girls look so sad," Mr Brunner the Greek Myology teacher asked looking up the book he was reading.

"Boy troubles," Annabeth sighed, walking pass heading to our table, us following her. Mr Brunner nodded his head and wheeled himself over to our table.

"Maybe this could help you girls then," Mr Brunner stated, placing a book on our table, then he wheeled off saying had to go to his classroom before the hallway gets too crowed.

After he left we stared at the book he gave us, it looked old and well used. the was no title or author on the front cover. Annabeth pulled it over to her and opened the hard cover.

"No way," she whispered, reading the first page.

"What is it?" Piper asked looking over Annabeth's shoulder.

"It's a book of spells," Annabeth stated looking at us.

"Magic is banned, plus we don't have magic in any of our families," Calypso hissed. I should explain this, you see twenty years ago magic was revealed to the world, anyone who was proven to have powers were taken away and lock up. Very few people with magic escaped their fate. Anyone caught doing magic is arrested.

"Actually we all could have hidden powers as none of us knows at least one side of our families," I whispered. In fact I knew I had powers my mother is a witch and I believe that the others may also have powers.

"That's ridiculous Hazel," Annabeth hissed.

"Fine but we have fun with the book tonight at my place, sleepover?" I asked them, they agreed as the bell rang.

That's when Annabeth started singing.

We laughed, falling on my bed out of breath from dancing. Little did we know we activated the book or the fact that my half brother Nico video taped our entire performance, or the fact that all our crushes are going to see it tomorrow.
