        Emilie Bourne had always felt out of place everywhere. When first she arrived at a house party with her older sister, she met one of the most famous singers in the world at the time— Ellis Patterson. He'd been known for keeping the girls on his shoulder until he decided that he didn't need any of them anymore. When Emilie had met Ellis, she had been thinking she would be another.          Graham Dunne had a special place for Emilie Bourne in his heart. She didn't know him very well only seeing him at school or in the cafeteria. He'd known her from the rich side of his neighborhood, always seeing her walk to school alone or with her older sister, Lisa. Graham knew the only way to get himself to be known to her was to introduce himself. Not just by his name, but by something big.

          Knowing his music and himself– Emilie didn't know what to think. Was he always like this? Always charming to the girls? Did he just find it amusing to make all the girls in the room laugh and to make them show their teeth? Throwing parties was a bonus for him. It was a way for him to make friends– and to find love. He was 24 and still very single.

           She wasn't far from his age. Wrong. She was very far from his age. Beauty came with a price for the young Borune girl. From Graham Dunne's words, she was like one of Aphrodite's children. If you had to ask Graham about Emilie, you'd get a whole essay. No full sentences could describe the way Graham had felt about her.

            The early years of the sixties were supposed to be the best of the years for her before she could run off to the most trending city in the world, Los Angeles, California. Emilie's only true dream was to enjoy sitting in the passenger's side of the car with her lover, enjoying the cool breezes of the California weather.

            Meeting Ellis and Graham at fourteen, married at nineteen. Emilie wanted back the time as a young adult instead of being trapped in an isolated home only having a dog by her side. She realized the only mistake she ever made was not choosing Graham.

i finally corrected the ages of all the characters in the show so i will be following the ages from the show, just to clarify; emilie is born in 1954. as well as the rest of the characters ( graham, eddie, warren, karen) are born in 1954. daisy is born in 1953. billy, camila and lisa are born in 1947. ellis is born in 1944, making him 10 years older than everyone. julia is born in early 1974. marie is born in late 1973. i just wanted to cover this before anyone asks what year ellis and emilie were born in as well as marie! [  note: marie is ellis and emilie's daughter  ] i also really hope you enjoy this book and i can't wait for you to read it!
