~A week later~

NPOV:

"Mornin' darlin'." Will smiles, handing me a pancake.
"Why are you so happy?" I ask suspiciously.
"I got the day off work." Will smiles, sitting down beside me.
"You get Sundays off every week." I point out.
"Yeah, but every Sunday we have to go shopping, so we don't get much time together." Will says.

He has a point. We've barely spent any time together since our honeymoon.

"Okay." I smile, starting to eat. "What do you have planned?"

~~~
"Where are we going?" I repeat.
"You'll see!" Will tells me for the sixth time.
"Just tell me!"
"No!" He laughs. We keep driving until Will finally stops. I look outside and roll my eyes.
"The beach, Will? Seriously?"
"Yep." He gets out the car and walks around to open the door for me, but I get out before he can reach me.
"It's November." I tell him. "It'll be freezing!"
"But we're not here for the beach." Will smiles. "We're here for arcades!"
"You are such a dork."
"But you love me." Will takes my hand and walks me towards an arcade.
"You do realise that this is just a pointless waste of money, right?" I ask him.
"Whatever, it'll be fun!" He grins. I sigh, but can't help smiling.
~~~

Will pulls some change from his pocket and is just about to insert it into a zombie-killing game when his phone rings. He sighs and pulls it out, frowns at the screen, then answers the call.

"Hello?" He says. I hear a voice, but I can't understand what they're saying. "I can't." Will says. "But you said- I'm busy! You can't do that! This isn't fair!" There's a longer pause. "It's a swimming pool!" He shouts. "I can't believe this... Fine! Okay!" He hangs up and sighs, turning to me.

"One of my colleagues slipped and sprained her ankle, so I have to go in and replace her." Will tells me.
"But..."
"I'm so sorry, Nico, but they'll fire me if I don't."
"It's a swimming pool." I blink.
"That's what I said." He rubs his temples, letting out a frustrated groan. "They won't listen."

Will starts walking to the door, and I run to catch up.
"They're sending Austin to pick me up, but his car only has two seats." Will tells me. "Can you get the bus?"

"Why can't you just drive us there?" I ask.
"We'll reach the swimming pool before our house, and you can't drive... It's complicated." Will sighs.

He hands me a handful of money and kisses my cheek as a car pulls up.
"I love you!" He tells me, before getting into the car. He flashes me an apologetic smile as the car drives off.

Then I'm left, clutching a handful of money, with no phone, completely alone.
