Before Sherlock was born,the Holmes were poor and could barely afford enough food.As they became more affluent, Mycroft ate more than necessary,fearing he might not have food later. As a result,he was a chubby child. 

Furthermore, he resents Sherlock's habit of not eating because Sherlock doesn't know what it's like to not have food.
