thank you so much for reading my au. it means a lot to me. english isn't my mother language and this is my first time writing a story in english so it's not very good. i'm sorry :(

also, there are a few things i want to clarify.

1. this is NOT a ship fic.

2. this is my interpretation of inupi and koko's friendship.
inupi is very loyal to koko and willing to die for him as he has said in the manga. koko, on the other hand, always hides his true emotions and avoids confronting them, which leads to him misunderstanding himself. he thinks he can never forget akane and knows that's hurting inupi but can't let go of inupi because he always convinces himself that inupi needs him, that without him inupi is helpless. but in the end, he realized that inupi is better without him so he decides to bid farewell. koko really cares for inupi but he is never aware of it.

3. the last chapter
- it's from inupi's pov.
- "that stupid promise" = koko's promise to akane that he will always protect her. a war between kantou manji and toman happened. there was some shooting involved and the one who was supposed to die is inupi but koko took the bullet for him. inupi thought it was because of that promise, as koko sees him as akane. but it's not the case (as koko stated in the manga, he has forgotten about it) but because he wanted to protect inupi, even if it costs him his own life.
- koko's last word is "seishu" - inupi's real name, meaning that koko has moved on from akane and no longer sees inupi as her.

4. inspiration
this au is heavily inspired by ai yazawa's manga "nana", particularly nana-ren's relationship and the famous quote: " if i died now, i don't think ren would die with me anymore". please read it if you haven't, it is amazing !
