CHAPTER FIVE,
tw, cal jacobs.

━━━━ NO hell in way she was ever going to listen to a single word that ashtray told her. she woke up the next day feeling like any other day, like shit.

"honey! apúrate y ven a desayunar!" her dad shouted from down the stairs. Averie walked lazily over to her closet putting on khaki jeans that stopped around her thigh, she put on a white loose tank top shirt and headed down stairs struggling to put on her socks.

"I'm coming!" Averie shouted finally being able to put on her socks. she rushed over to the kitchen where Alex already had her plate of breakfast.

"thanks, dad." Averie said with a smile quickly grabbing the cup of coffee and taking a sip of it before there was a door knock. "I'll get it." Alex said standing up walking over towards the door.

Averie sat there continuing to eat her food thinking about the things that she was going to do today. she could either wonder around for a little or go see what Rue is up to.

"Averie it's for you!" Alex said rushing back inside of the kitchen to flip the pancake that was about to burn. Averie frowned her eyebrows standing up heading over towards the door where Rue stood there.

"Averie!"

"rue?"

"you busy?" Rue asked the younger girl who shook her head with a questioning look. "you are my responsibility now. Bye Mr. Alvarez!"

Alex waved at Rue who pulled Averie who was putting on her shoes following behind Rue. "where are you taking me?"

she sighed wrapped a arm around the younger girl bringing her close, "well, first I am going to drop you off with fez and then I'll pick you up." Averie stopped completely making Rue look at her.

"No." Averie shook her head crossing her arms over her shoulders, Rue who was very much high scoffed.

"yes." Rue said that just made Averie shake her head even more and backing away from Rue making her way back home.

"Fine! I will take you too School first then I will drop you off then I'll pick you up again."

stupid plan, yes. but what else was Averie Alvarez going to do after school. she wasn't about to ditch just to be stuck with fez and with a teenage boy who wants her to stay away from everything. not like she had a choice with Rue anyway.

"AVERIE?" Fezco called out as Averie entered the store with a hard expression that read, kill me now.

"no." she said boredly her eyes moving up Lexi who was looking inside one of the freezers, the older girl gave averie a smile sending Fezco a quick look which he looked all flustered making averie giggle and wink over at fezco.

"Avery, come here!" Faye said with a happy expression waving her hand over at her. "Faye!" Averie made her way quickly over towards her.

ashtray was watching it all from afar, his eyes went into a glare as he was practically burning holes on averie. he holds a grudge against her, a grudge that she might of forgotten but he never did. because of that it's the reason why ashtray isn't fond of her. he will never forget what she did to him.

"it's averie." she said quickly to Faye who didn't seem to care and passes averie the blunt that was in her hand. Averie shook her head not really feeling it but she did in fact get candy which earned a glare from fezco.

"you gonna pay for that?"

"No, you are." Averie said smiling widely at the older male who scoffed shaking his head. Lexi walked behind the counter to see the rest of the snacks, her head lifted up to look at averie who send her a knowingly look.

Lexi tilted her head to the side not knowing that averie was talking about before the younger girl nodded her head over towards fezco. Lexi gasped softly quickly looking away as a tiny set of blush appeared on her cheeks.

the two were too busy trying to communicate that they didn't realize when a certain older man entered the store until his footsteps boomed inside of the store and then his voice. "good evening."

Lexi quickly went back over to the front where fez could see her, Averie went closer to Faye who didn't know who that was and fezco was giving him a hard cold glare. "what's up, man?"

ashtray sat up on the chair as he and fezco made eye contact both of them confused. "you got any spearmint gum?" Cal asked.

"I don't know man. the gums right here." Fezco said looking over towards averie and nodding his head inside of the freezer signaling for her to go. Cal was still in the back looking through everything so he didn't see when Averie nodded her head and quickly made her way inside of the fridge.

Ashtray quickly stood up placing a hand over her mouth which caught her by surprise and almost let out a shout when the boy placed his finger on his mouth silencing her. "this you store?" Cal asked moving to the front and Lexi going to the back.

"it's a family business." Fezco answered.

"do your parents own it?" Cal asked again, he was making too many questions which weirded everyone out.

"you usually ask this many questions, man?"

Averie's eyes widen as her and ashtray made eye contact. she wanted nothing more than escape and run as far as she can and never come back, but then again she did say yes to Rue. which she hasn't come back to pick her up.

"just you." Cal said now standing in the side looking directly at fezco, "she tell you who I am?"

"Nah, man." Fezco said shaking his head. "are you a cop?" Faye asked making fezco look at her quickly glaring at her before back at Cal.

"No." Cal said and everyone at this point was just looking at him who dug inside of his pocket.

"be quiet, alright?" ashtray said to Averie who quickly pushed him away from her. "Averie, I'm being deadass, don't say shit." Ashtray said pointing at Averie who held her hands up in surrender watching him go further in the back getting a cereal back taking out a gun and cocking it.

"holy shi—" Averie didn't get to finish her sentence as he once again placed a hand over her mouth shushing her completely. he was pleading her with his eyes and it was almost as if he hypnotize her.

on the other side of the freezer, cal was slowly taking something away from his pockets. in the end it was money, he went to placed it slowly on the counter next to fezco who was ready to do anything. "just a concerned father." that made averie get out of her hypnosis and scoff softly rolling her eyes.

once he exited the store averie quickly pushed him away again making him scoff loudly. "your welcome." he snapped as averie was about to leave the freezer.

"for what? for keeping me quiet?" Averie asked frowning her eyebrows noticing how he was serious about that. "uh, thank you for putting a hand over my mouth and keeping me quiet." she said sarcastically before now walking over to fezco who was outside.

for the next hour or so Rue still hasn't come back and Averie was about to leave to the store to walk by herself back home, even if it was dangerous since it was already night time. right when she was about to leave fezco called out for her. "ay, Averie."

"yeah?" she asked the ginger hair man who crossed his arms over his chest.

"you gonna stay over mines 'till Rue gets back, alright?"

she wanted the world to just swallow her whole at the point. wherever Rue was, she hopes that she falls randomly and breaks something.
