Suddenly Kai begins to notice a sandstorm surrounding him and Octavio, who doesn't seem to be too minded by it as he jumps back

Kai: "He must be using sound vibrations from his
music to create this storm...

Cuttlefish: Incoming, Agent 3!

With quick reaction, Kai notices a giant fist flying towards him but quickly uses his splatana to smack it away, hitting back at Octavio

Kai: Damn... I really pulled the "why are you hitting yourself..."

Octavio continues to fire more of his fists at Kai but he quickly knocks them back at Octavio which begins to concern Kai

Kai: Why do you have giant fists that some reason attack back at you? That's kinda stupid!

Octavio: They're heat-seeking brat... they have to hit something...

Kai: Guess that explains why they attacked you even when I wasn't trying to parry some of them

Octavio: Then try parrying this!

He leaps into the air with a flip and aims with his fist now spinning like a drill and fires at Kai once again

Cuttlefish: He's using a drill punch! Quick dodge!

Kai quickly goes into defense and tries to block the drill attack but feels himself being overwhelmed by the pressure, causing him and strike down to the ground

Cuttlefish: I told you to dodge not block!

Kai: *grunt* I thought I could parry that one...

He kicks the drill fist off of him as it retracts back to Octavio who already has another drill attack launched at Kai but this time he avoids the drill. Once the drill struck the ground, he charged his splatana and hit the giant fist back at Octavio, causing the giant octopus to fall out of his machine

Cuttlefish: Octavio fell out of his turntable! Quick, turn the tables on him!

Kai: Heh, way ahead of you!

Octavio quickly tries to get up but is stuck in the cyan ink which gives Kai enough time to speed blitz towards him and swing his Katana across his face

Kai: Fore!

Octavio gets sent flying and smacked back into his machine which nearly tips over but he quickly gets back up and fixes his stance before it falls over

Octavio: Think my beats sucks, eh?

Kai: What? I never said-

Octavio: Then you'll love THIS!

Suddenly a nozzle appears out of Octavio's machine and begins to suck in the ink and sand around him and then lets out a steam

Kai: Damn... never thought a vacuum can be somewhat intimidating...

Suddenly Octavio immediately fires a drill attack which Kai quickly dodges but before he could attack the hand, Octavio activates his ink-vac and starts to suck the ink out of Kai's splatana

Cuttlefish: He's using an Ink Vac! Don't let it suck up your ink!

Soon Octavio finishes sucking up most of the ink from Kai's splatana and fires out a blast of ink towards Kai. He quickly avoids the blast but once it hits the ground, the aftershock sends Kai away and knocks him to the ground

Kai: *grunt* Son of a bitch!

Octavio: GYAH HA HA HA!

Octavio once again uses his ink-vac but this time, it is stronger as Kai tries to keep ahold of his splatana from being ripped out of his grip. As Kai was holding on to dear life, Smallfry began to float in the air which Kai noticed and started to panic

Kai: SMALLFRY!

He tries to grab the small salmon but misses as the Smallfry begins to fly towards the vacuum. However, Smallfry begins to unexpectedly plug the vacuum, causing it to stop sucking the ink

Cuttlefish: Oho! That Smallfry pal of yours looks like a perfect fit!

Octavio: GAH! Can't... vacuum!

Kai: Oh ok... I apologize for trying to get you on a diet Smallfry

Smallfry: *panic noises*

Octavio: Fires another rocket punch but Kai easily smacks it back at Octavio but causes Smallfry to fall out of the vacuum

Kai: Welcome back shithead!

Smallfry: *dizzy out*

Octavio: Keep your fishy junk outta my mech!

He retracts his arms and legs as his machine begins to fly towards Kai but he quickly rolls out of the way, avoiding the mech. It lands on the other side while he starts his ink vac again and tries to quickly charge a drill attack

Kai: Not this time!

He grabs Smallfry, to his surprise, and throws him at the vacuum. Smallfry begins to panic as it tries to escape the ink vacuum but ends up getting stuck in it, plugging the vacuum again

Cuttlefish: Way to plug him up, Smallfry! I feel bad for Lil' Runt... but it worked!

Kai: Honestly I did that as a getback for how lucky was to lay on those cushions back at my apartment...

Cuttlefish: ?

Smallfry: *screaming*

Soon drill attack fires at Kai who he quickly dodges and hits the hand back at Octavio again but this time both Smallfry and Octavio fall out of the mech

Cuttlefish: Octavio is out! Now's your chance!

Octavio tries to quickly get back up but Kai runs towards him, kicking him in the air and then leaping up towards him with his splatana charged up

Kai: Batter up!

With full force, Kai swings his splatana across his face, sending him flying back into his mecha again which almost rips over

Octavio: GRAAAGH! NOW you've made me MAD!

Kai: But weren't you mad the whole time?

Octavio slams his wasabi down and his machine turns red and uses his giant hands to slam onto the ground and leaps onto the battlefield with Kai

Kai: Oh now you're coming at me!

Octavio tries to slam his hand down at Kai but he quickly avoids it, however, gets caught by the shockwave that leaped from the hand's impact

Kai: Ow! My toes!

Cuttlefish: His slap attack will send out shock waves. Try to hop over those!

Kai: I've noticed that! Couldn't you have told me this before

Cuttlefish: I just now discovered this!

Octavio continues to swing at Kai who continues to avoid the ongoing attack but unexpectedly Octavio fires both drill attacks at Kai before he can try to avoid it, he activates his vacuum to slow Kai's movement

Kai: Shit!

Out of instinct, he throws Smallfry to plug the vacuum which gives him some movement to avoid the first drill attack but failed to avoid the second one as it drills him into the ground

Kai: ... Ok I'm starting to get annoyed...

He gets back up while Octavio retracts both of his hands and fires them at Kai again. This time he hops onto one of the hands and jumps again but he swings his splatana at the second hand, sending it back at Octavio.

Cuttlefish: Oh?

He turns back with his splatana charges again and slams his weapon on the hand he hopped off of, pinning it to the ground

Octavio: Hey! Give that back!

Kai: Oh I'm planning to... RIGHT BACK INTO YOUR EYES!

He slides his splatana against to metal hand, causing it to grind against the ground and throw back at Octavio, causing him to fall out of the mech again

Cuttlefish: Octavio's out again! Finish him off!

Octavio once again tries to get back up but Kai presses his feet against his head and gives him a toothy grin as he pulls back his splatana

Kai: Not gonna lie... it's kinda fun to hit you like a baseball

Octavio: ... Why did you have to bring back memories-

He gives his final swing with his splatana, sending Octavio back at his mech again, causing Smallfry to fall out of the vacuum. Suddenly the mech begins to shake and spark and the sandstorm begins to fade away while Octavio remembers this familiar defeat

Octavio: Every time... so sad...

Soon the mech begins to glow bright light until it stops shaking and then explodes, causing the mech to fly high in the air with Octavio screaming. However, the mech doesn't go too far as it falls back onto the battlefield and Octavio falls out of the mech in defeat

Octavio: *groan*

Soon Kai, Smallfry, and Cuttlefish approach the defeated octopus with Smallfry going up to it out of curious while Kai, who still has his toothy grin, presses his foot against the octopus's head and pulls his splatana back

Octavio: Guh... No fair! Your gear is way too strong!

Kai: Yeah, but I bet you would be a perfect test dummy to see what happens if we try to use this gear at full force!~

Octavio: *grunts* Fucking insane squid...

Cuttlefish: You put on a weak show, Octavio! Your set list gettin' old... or maybe it's just you! Seriously, that was too easy. It's like you weren't even usin' the Great Zapfish's power

Octavio: Mute it, fools! I didn't steal the Zapfish this time!

With that response, Kai's toothy grin changes into a surprise as Cuttlefish scratches his head in confusion

Cuttlefish: Bwuh? You didn't?!

Kai: If this octopus didn't, who did?

Suddenly they begin to feel the ground shaking and crack starts to appear with everyone looking in confusion and fear

Cuttlefish: Wha- wha- what the what?

Kai: Now what?...

Suddenly a blob of fuzzy ooze burst out of the ground beneath them, grabbing onto Octavio's mech and pulling it down, causing everyone to fall into the void

Kai: Oh shiiiiiitttt!!!

Cuttlefish: Agent 3! Help mee!

As they begin to fall, Kai notices Cuttlefish being taken away by the fuzzy ooze and Octavio disappears from the void. Kai tries to use his splatana to do something but debris above himself hits his splatana, breaking it and causing him to be pushed against the wall, destroying his gear

Kai: Fuck! What do we-

Suddenly one of the debris hit him across the face knocking him out as he and Smallfry were the only ones falling into the unknown and only Smallfry's gurgling scream could be heard. Above the surface, three masked strangers approach the whole and look below out of curiosity and only let out a chuckle

Kai slowly opened his eyes and all he could see was white light and the sound of gurgling noises. After a few seconds, he gains his vision to see Smallfry sitting in front of him

Kai: God... Am I in heaven?

Smallfry: *gurgling noises*

Kai: No this might be hell if you're here... now-

He looked around to see that their in some kind of dome that had an artificial sky above them and a giant rocket covered in fuzzy ooze from afar

Kai: ... Where are we?

Before he stood up, he noticed the snow on the ground didn't feel cold at all and felt plastic which led him to stand up and look around

Kai: Plastic... everything here is fake... and covered in fuzzy ooze... Guess I just found out where the ooze came from-

?: Hey!

He turns in the direction the voice came from to his surprise that someone is here in this mysterious place

Kai: And I might've found someone...

He decides to follow where the voice is coming from while Smallfry decides to run up ahead as he begins to see three silhouettes from afar

Callie: HEY! Agent 3! Over here!

Kai: "No fucking way..."

The second he got closer, he immediately recognized the three silhouettes. However, the one that mostly caught his eye was an inkling girl has a scar over her eye that was pale as snow

Callie: Whew! I'm so glad you're alright. You're Agent 3, right! Gramps fully enlisted you and your Smallfry?

Kai remains silent as he is lost for words and his mouth drops to the ground out of shock and disbelief but manages to give a small nod to her

Callie: Yeah, I knew it. I see the look in your eyes that he's always looking for. Well, it's nice to meet you! I guess we should introduce ourselves... I'm Agent 1 of the New Squidbeak Splatoon!

Marie: Hey, I'm Agent 2

Callie: C'mon, Agent 2. Get pumped!

?: Hey... Name's Amelia

Marie: Our Captain pretty much

Callie: We're... the New-

Kai: Squidbeak Splatoon!

The girls stared at him in silence and were surprised by his quick response as Kai's eyes were beaming in excitement

Callie: Wow, I didn't think you knew us that fast

Kai: Of course I would! You guys were a part of the Chroma war! Especially you Amelia!

Amelia: Oh?...

Kai: I'm such a huge fan of you guys! I remember you and a few other gals took down an Overlord Commander back then! Sorry that Angela took your sight on one of your eyes...

Amelia: It's fine... the bitch had it coming...

Kai: But I'm so happy I got to meet you guys in person!

Callie: See! I told you, you would have fans!

Amelia: *rolls her eyes*

Marie: *Ahem* Anyways, it looks like you and Gramps got separated in that fall

Kai: Oh yeah... I saw him get taken away but those fuzzy ooze when we were falling

Marie: Well this place is huge, and it's filled with them as you see. And now we have to find Gramps before, he like, tastes it, or something

Kai: You guys have no confidence in him, huh? Reminds me of someone...

Smallfry: *chokes on the fake snow that he tried eating*

Callie: Aw, you make it sound like it's not gonna be fun!... But seriously, please help us look for Gramps

Kai: I mean I kinda have to since... it's my job now. He's probably a hairball somewhere here...

Callie: Perfect!

Marie: So Granps reeled in a new Agent 3... Glad to have you!

Both the squid sister and Amelia pose away to not only welcome him into the team but also to direct him on where to go first

Kai: Yeah... So I'm guessing you're telling me to go that way

Marie: Well, we've never been here before either...

Kai: Wait how do we know we're supposed to go?!

Marie: I'm getting there, we think this place is Alterna. Who knew it was beneath the Crater this whole time?!

Kai: Alterna... sounds familiar...

Callie: Oooh you know about it?

Kai: Kinda? I believe there were rumors that the Creator got inspired to create humanoid weapons like Tadayoshi's pen or Terrence's katana that were similar to what mankind had in this place...

Marie: That's correct. Anyways, we have counted six different islands so far. What should we call them? Sites or something

Callie: Uh, are you gonna mention the HUNONGOUS rocket over there?! Look at that!

Marie: Way to steal my thunder. Anyways... we put a tracking device on Gramps, as one does. But now we're getting a strong signal from three different areas

Callie: Your mission is to check all 3 of those places out!

Marie: Normally we could get the other agents to do this but 2 of them retired and our husband is with our other agent, doing a bodyguard job with the Off the Hook

Callie: Man... I miss him...

Amelia: It's only been 3 days...

Kai: "Our?"

Callie: Overall is there anything else you need before you start your first mission?

Kai: Uhh yeah... I have a problem...

He lifts his Splatana stamper to show that his weapon is broken into pieces and he is only holding the handle of it

Kai: Do you guys have a different weapon I could use

Amelia: I got something to cover you...

She hops off of her seat and walks behind the boxes only to come back with a large briefcase and toss it to Kai

Amelia: This should cover it for you

Kai kneels and opens up the briefcase and to his surprise, reveals a new type of weapon; an Axe. He was lost for words as he lifted it and spun it around to get a good look at it

Amelia: We found it when he discovered this place. Figured we might as well give it to my new replacement

Kai: A-Are you sure I can have this? You know is this a rare humanoid weapon?!

Amelia: If you keep asking that question again, I'll take it back

Kai: Ok ok...

He takes a few steps back and then he starts swinging it around to do some practice moves with it, to get a rhythm until he finishes it off with a strike into the ground which creates an ink shockwave

Kai: Woah...

Callie: So what are you gonna name it?

Kai: Name?... Hmmm... from this day on, I'll shall call this... Fjord!

Amelia: Fjord?... not bad at all kid

Marie: *ahem* Sorry to break the excitement but I would to find our gramps sooner or later

Kai: Oh right! Right! I'll get going! Let's go Smallfry!

Smallfry: *coughs out the fake snow*

Soon Kai and Smallfry begin to make their way around the first site to start their first mission while the girls watch him leave

Callie: You think he'll be able to carry our legacy

Amelia: Hope so... He's got that look in his eyes

Marie: We'll just have to see...

After what felt like minutes, Kai falls face first onto the ground while Smallfry bounces off the ground like a rubber ball

Kai: *grunt* How does your small ass body don't take any fall damage?

Smallfry: *dizzy*

Kai: *sigh* Found a kettle and didn't think it led me to-

?: .... ((Activated!)) ((System check... Ok)) ((Authentication... All systems normal))

Kai: Who's there?!

?: ((Commencing biometric scan))

Kai: Wait what?

?: ((Scan complete... No matches found)) ((commencing registration sequence))

Soon everything remains silent as they can only hear printing sound but Kai keeps cautious with his axe in his hand

?: Good day. My name is O.R.C.A. I am what you might call a... navigation system... for Alterna citizens

Kai: O.R.C.A.?...

Callie: Woah! Where's that voice coming from?!

Kai: GAHH!!! What the fuck

Callie: Oh sorry, I guess Gramps didn't tell you that the gear he gave you had an earpiece. Good thing it still works after the fall

Kai: Now I feel stupid that I didn't realize I had one in my ear...

O.R.C.A.: Welcome to Alterna, citizen. Please enter your identification to proceed

Marie: Ugh, it's like setting up a phone for the first time. I guess just follow the instructions, Agent 3

Kai: Sure?...

O.R.C.A.: Processing... processing... processing... 🎶DING🎶 Your name has been accepted. Thank you for registering, Kai

Marie: Cool, looks like it's official...

Kai: I'm more scared that it somehow figured out my name...

O.R.C.A.: My circuits are designed to measure your intellectual and physical prowess as demonstrated by your ability to complete missions throughout Alterna. In each mission, you must reach a goal mechanism or complete an objective. Extraordinary citizens will complete many missions and receive many power eggs.

Kai: Power eggs?

O.R.C.A.: You expect a substantial Power Egg payday in particular for this first mission... May your enthusiasm result in success, citizen

Kai: Huh... I guess Power Egg was an economy here?...

Callie: But it'll be a way to help you gear up

Kai: Sure...

He looks around outside the case to see a large structure with an end goal from afar

Callie: Perhaps this was some kind of training for the humans but for what?

Kai: I don't know, I ain't no scientist

Marie: Well just go along with them and if you see more of those kettles do them. Perhaps we could find Gramps in one of them

Kai: I hope so

O.R.C.A.: The mission will begin as soon as you pass through that gate. Best of luck, Kai

Kai: Yeah, this O.R.C.A. reminds me of that one telephone that was in the Paramount War

Callie: Oh that creature... god, his was gross and slimy

Kai: Whatever happened to him?

Marie: He got taken by the Overlord Victor and was made to become an AI program for his territory. But I'm sure you know what happened to him

Kai: "As expected from the great Tadayoshi!"

Callie: Well it seems like we finished the O.R.C.A. talk, let's get moving!

Kai: Yeah yeah, still makes me wonder... what the hell was this place...

He exits out of the container and makes his way around the structure, continuing to look around the place

Kai: Say O.R.C.A. if you're still here? What is the place made for?

O.R.C.A.: The missions are designed to measure the intellectual and physical prowess of humanity when the day they believe they are ready to return to the surface

Amelia: Humanity?...

Callie: Woah! Humans used to live here?

Marie: That... might explain how the Creator got inspiration here...

O.R.C.A.: Correct. When the world fell from a terrible event, humanity escaped here. The smartest humans built this place so it may be a sustainable ecosystem for them and created 3D-printed replicas of some of humanity's favorite cultural artifacts to remember to never repeat their mistake

Kai: So this was a place for humans... What happened to them

O.R.C.A.: They may have made sure to never repeat the same mistake but they failed to prevent making another mistake that led to their end yet create what you are

Kai: Wait what?-

Suddenly, a shot of ink zips past him to his surprise, he looks up ahead to see some octarians, that had hair all over their tentacles, firing at him

Callie: Octarian! Wait why are they fuzzy? New fashion?

Kai squints his eyes to get a closer look and notices a similar tattoo that represents Octavio's army

Kai: I think they're Octavio's army... might've just found where they went

Marie: Wait? You met Octavio?

Kai: I'll explain later! Gotta deal with them first!

The Octoling continues to fire at Kai who quickly spins his axe to block the ink shots. Soon he begins to charge at the fuzzy octarians and swings an uppercut with his axe at one of them and then follows it up with another swing across an octarian's face until quickly gets behind cover and slowly grows a toothy smile

Kai: Yeah... I can really get used to this...

He quickly tosses Smallfry out in the open who distracted the fuzzy octolings, leading him to charge into the fight again and start to aggressively attack the fuzzy Octarians. All the girls could hear from the earpiece was maniacal laughter and splats of ink could be heard from the back

Marie: Yep... Can see why he got his name...

Callie: Probably looks up to his inspiration a little too much?...

Amelia: At least he isn't a coward, that's all that matters

Kai swings down his axe again, cutting an octarian in half before exploding into ink. Soon he notices a small group of fuzzy octarians charging at him to which he leans his axe back as the crystal on his axe begins to glow bright cyan

Kai: Axe Technique...

Suddenly clear liquid that was slightly blue begins to swirl around his axe which begins to get back as Kai takes a huge swing and slams the blade onto the ground

Kai: Tsunami!

The second the axe made contact, a huge wave burst out and began engulfing the charging fuzzy octarians, splatting them all in one go, even clearing out the ink that was on the ground

Kai: ... Holy shit I knew human weapons are good but not THIS good! Almost sounded like the ocean!

He takes a look at his weapon and touches his blade but the second he makes contact with the liquid that was on the blade, he feels his finger burn, causing him to retract his arm out of pain

Kai: Ow!... Why did that burn!... wait... that felt like-

Marie: You good, Agent 3?

Kai: ... Yeah... I think I discovered something...

A few hours later, he and Smallfry exit out of another kettle where he sees Callie and Marie standing by the entrance to the next site

Callie: You're doing great, Agent 3. You finished all of the kettles on this site!

Kai: Yeah... Thanks... Where's Amelia?

Marie: She's gone back up to the hole you fell from to check if Gramps could be up there still

Kai: Oh... I'm starting to doubt that the old guy ain't in any of these kettles

Marie: Perhaps but I've done some numbers and I found out that the machine you plug in after each mission seems to be activating something

Kai: And that is?

Marie: Not sure but it seems like it's starting something on the next site. I'd say trying to get all of them in case it might be important

Kai: Yeah I got you, just need to catch my breath

Marie: Go for it

Kai sits back on the ground to take a break while Smallfry leans back for a nap. Soon Callie decides to join along and sits beside him

Callie: So heard they called you the "Bering Sea" back in Inkopolis Square

Kai: You know about that?

Marie: I mean I doubt anyone would ignore the news about a certain inkling that caused other players to quit playing after going against you

Kai: Look I was a little into that match ok! I didn't mean to do all that shit

Marie: You threaten someone about their family and make them a Colorless

Kai: ...

Callie: *chuckles* Reminds me of how our husband was when he used to do Turf Wars

Kai: Ok now this is bugging me, why are you saying "our?" Who is this husband?

Callie: Oh?... you don't know?

Kai: ?

Marie: For a fan, I would think this would be common knowledge to you

Kai: Just spill the beans!

Callie: Well he's-

?: HOLD IT RIGHT THERE!

The group turns to the voice where they see 3 stranger holding masks up to their face while in a "mysterious" pose

Callie: Who are you supposed to be?

?: We're not SUPPOSED to be anything

?2: But I'll tell you who we ARE. Say it with sizzle... I'm Frye!

With Frye revealing herself, she tosses the mask aside, which hits Smallfry in the face and knocks him over as the other mask figure slowly moves her mask aside

?: You think you're cool? Sharks call ME cold-blooded. But you can call me Shiver!

Her mask immediately changes into a fan as she has a psycho-like smile on her face while the last figure calmly removes his mask

?: Ay! (Make money! Get fish quick!) Ay! (Big Man in the house!)

Frye: The Splatlands are OUR turf!

Shiver: Only WE may loot here

Big Man: Ay! (Yeah!)

Frye: We are... Deep Cut!

The three idols immediately get into their iconic pose as Kai looks in confusion and a bit of surprise while Callie looks in awe

Callie: I... I love them

Marie: Whatever. What do you want, anyway?

Kai: Wait this city's idols?

Frye: Yeah, it's called a day job. You should look into it. Banditing is our REAL passion. Nothing can stop us!

Kai: Alright damn, no need to be rude...

Shiver: Hate to interrupt, cute inkling... but have you looked around? We hit the jackpot! Who knew this was here?  All this time... treasure was just sitting here under the Crater. Now it's ours for the taking

Big Man: Ay! (Good eye, Shiver!)

Frye: So... are you gonna try and stop us or what?

Kai: I mean... I don't kn-

Frye: Because you totally can't! We're taking all of it for ourselves. Hahahaha!

Soon Shiver begins to have an "evil" laugh and Frye gets into a "come at me" pose  while Kai just looks in confusion

Kai: ... This is the most cheesiest "villain" dialogue I have ever heard

Callie: It's like they rehearsed this whole thing... they are total pros

Frye: Awww, they don't seem scared. What do you have to do to scare someone these days?!

Kai: That was supposed to be scary?!

Big Man: Ay! (... I got a little bit scared)

Kai: If you get scared by that, then I would imagine you dying, just seeing Tadayoshi!

Frye: Hey! That may be true, but don't compare us to him! He's the definition of scary!

Kai: That's facts! Especially when he smiles! Like... god it gets me chills seeing it!

Frye: Oh! Or when he gets all angry and has ink covered on his face!

He lets out his toothy smile which surprises Frye and scares Big Man a little by how well it looks

Frye: Ohh... I like it! Maybe we should try doing that next time for our introduction!

Suddenly Shiver closes her fan, cutting off Frye and Kai's conversation as she tries to bring back their original monologue

Shiver: I'm sorry to interrupt, but I'm OVER this conversation. The treasure is ours.

Soon Big Man secretly throws a smoke bomb which bursts out smoke and as soon it clears out the three idols disappear, leaving the squid sisters confused about what just happened

Marie: Guess we're gonna be seeing them during our mission?

Kai: I'm starting to question how many fucking idols are in some weird secret group...

The second Smallfry heard the word Snack, he immediately sat up and charged at the fuzzy ooze that was blocking the gateway. Unknowingly to the group from afar, the Deep Cut was still watching them
