pretty

she's so pretty
in all her strong glory
her eyes like ocean waves
hitting the flakey shore

i sit next to her in class
always focused on the way
she tucks a curl behind her ear
bites her lip as she writes

i wonder if she ever
writes about me
like i write about her
i doubt it but it is
always nice to hope

so kind and intelligent
i like the way her eyes sparkle
and the way her lips curve upwards
when she gets an answer right

i bet she looks beautiful
in the pale moonlight
beneath a thousand stars
her lips cherry-red
her eyes bright and doe-like

she's so pretty
and i wish she were mine.
