Chapter sixteen
The Shrine
Lacey's POV:
Gale Weathers was very smart to say the least. She already knew who we were despite Kirby being a cop. "Lacey Jackson, right?" I nodded and she turned to Kai and said "Kaya Celeste." "I go by Kai but yes." "Two of your friends died?" Gale said. Mindy shook her head and said "just one. Anika is alive." Gale nodded and said "I have something to show you guys. Come on." Jenny and Kurt were freaked out and didn't want to go to wherever we were going. "Stay in contact with us." I told Jenny. She nodded and Kurt said "I'll stay nearby. In case one of us needs each other." We walked to where Gale was taking us. Ethan seemed to avoid Mindy's glare at all times. He also avoided making eye contact with Kai. "They all think it's me." He whispered. I looked up at Ethan and said "I don't." "You don't have to say that so you don't hurt my feelings." Ethan said. I shook my head and said "Eth, I don't. If I had any inkling that you did, I wouldn't be standing next to you right now." "Do you?" "Do I what?" "Have an inkling?" "I just told you no. I don't think you're Ghostface." I reached for his hand and he allowed me to take it as we walked. Ethan looked unbelievably stressed. "Hey, who cares what they think? We'll catch Ghostface. When they see that it's not you, it'll be fine." Ethan nodded with a frown and I kissed his cheek, trying not to stumble as I stood on my tiptoes. Ethan chuckled and said "don't fall, babe." I smiled at him and Tara looked over her shoulder at the two of us. "You ok?" She said. I nodded and we continued to walk down the sidewalk. My mind started to wander to last night. I remember Ghostface just standing over me, tilting his head in confusion. It was if he wanted to watch me die. We reached an alley and Sam said "what is this?" "This is what I have to show you. That kid that was killed; Jason, he had this in his name. Along with his roommate." Gale told the group. Kirby shook her head and said "that doesn't make sense. I looked them both up. They had nothing attached to their names." "I'm just better at my job than you are, Kirby." The blonde rolled her eyes as Gale entered a code and we all went inside. It was an abandoned movie theater. I gasped softly as we walked into the main room. Ghostface and Stab memorabilia was scattered around the room. I slowly let go of Ethan's hand, looking around. I stopped at the mannequin which adorned Stu Macher's sweater. Sure. I'd seen Stab. Who hadn't? I always kind of liked the original Stab movie. Especially Stu. I'd always forget the movie was based on true events. A month ago I probably would've went crazy over this. Now I'm just creeped out. I slowly approached the Ghostface costumes on the stage. Tara grabbed my arm and followed me up the stairs. "Is that...." I looked to the costume in the center. It had to be Billy Loomis'. "Yeah." Tara whispered. I looked at Jill Roberts' costume. Her motive was always the stupidest to me. Fame. Killing your friends, your mom, for fame? It was kind of ridiculous. Tara leaned her head on my shoulder and said "do you think we'll make it out of this?" I nodded and said "I'll protect you." "Who's going to protect you?" Tara asked. I gave her a sad smile and her lip quivered as she started to hide the tears forming in her eyes. "I don't wanna be apart of this. Sam's legacy." I frowned and said "I know, Tara." Sam overheard and looked down. Tara then left me and stormed off. Mindy pointed to her eyes and then pointed to Ethan signaling 'I've got my eye on you.' "I had Econ. I was literally in class." Ethan defended. Chad shrugged and said "gotta keep an eye on you, bro." I stepped off the stage and noticed some other things. Chad and Mindy's uncle had some stuff in cases. Tatum O'Riley's outfit was on a mannequin. I shuddered as I looked at the tv that killed Stu Macher. The screen was all caved in, the glass shattered and sharp to the touch. I went off to the side and sat down, feeling overwhelmed. Ethan sighed deeply from across the room and then made eye contact with me. I motioned for him to come over to where I was. Ethan quickly walked over and said "you ok?" I shook my head and said "I'm scared." Ethan slung his backpack to the ground and pulled me into a hug. "Don't be scared. I'm here." He said softly. I gripped handfuls of the blue jacket he wore, burying my face into the crook of his neck. "Eth, don't leave me. Please." Ethan shook his head and said "I won't. Hey, I already told you. Nothing's gonna hurt you. I'm here." I nodded and just held him close to me. "We could go to your dorm room. If you want. Just leave the Ghostface sleuthing to them." Ethan said. I bit my lip and said "maybe later. Not right now. I need to stay here for Tara. And Kai. I need to be strong." Ethan kissed my forehead and said "it's ok if you don't. It's perfectly normal to be scared. I'm scared. I'm fucking freaking out. Like, because I'm Chad's roommate and I wasn't there last night, that makes me Ghostface? I also don't want to be stabbed. I don't want to get hurt. And...that's already happened to you." Ethan's fingers grazed against my bandage softly. "I don't want you to get hurt." I whispered. Ethan shook his head and said "I won't. I promise. I'll protect you. From everything." I looked up at him, my lips parting. Ethan kissed my lips passionately and I smiled into the kiss. "Cheer up, Spacey. You're with me after all." Ethan teased. I giggled softly and said "I really love you, dork." "And I love you."

Kai's POV:
The shrine we were currently standing in was massive. Iz's breath quivered as she looked at artifacts that were Billy Loomis'. "He was your uncle." I said. She nodded and said "yeah. I guess he was. I obviously didn't know him but I can't believe he's Sam's father. I can't believe we're related to him. I hate this for Tara." I looked over at my best friend and Tara who were standing on the stage. She held Lacey's arm out of fear and looked broken. Tara looked like she wanted to give up. She wanted everything to be over. "Chad, this was uncle Randy's." Mindy said as she looked at a shirt on a mannequin. Chad approached his sister and he frowned. "I wish he was here. And that we could've met him." Chad said quietly. Mindy held back tears and said "me too." Kirby shuddered when she saw pictures of Charlie Walker. I didn't know much about the Stab movies but I knew each of the killers. I wasn't a fan of them like Mindy or Lacey. But, I knew the general idea of each movie and knew they were all based on true stories. Sidney Prescott. I knew all of this had happened to her. My eyes went over to Ethan and Lacey. She held onto him as if he was her lifeline and Mindy said "I don't trust him." I sighed and said "I don't either but she does." "Listen, I know I've kinda been hostile to Lacey but I do care about her. She is my friend. She almost died the other night. I don't want anything to happen to her and I'm pretty sure Ethan Landry had something to do with Ghostface showing up the other night." Mindy finished as she turned to look at me. I shrugged and said "I don't know. All I know is that Lacey loves him. She cares so much about Ethan and he obviously cares about her. Even if he Ghostface, he cares about her." "That's an act! They always pretend to care!" Mindy whisper yelled. "Look at him. The way he looks at her. The way he holds her. The way he almost burst into tears when he saw her this morning. He cares about her. Whether he's Ghostface or not." I replied to Mindy. She watched Ethan kiss Lacey and huffed. "We gotta keep an eye on him." "Will do, sis. Will do." Chad reassured her. Mindy walked off and I went to sit down. Iz sat next to me and said "do you think we'll get out of this?" "I would think so. Ghostface is just a guy in a mask. He's not Jason Vorhees. He's not Michael Myers. He's just a guy; a guy we can take down if we try." I told her. Iz looked at Lacey and said "we were all in that apartment last night and we still couldn't take him. He killed Quinn, practically butchered Anika and almost killed Lacey but didn't have the time." "Well, Chad and Tara ran. Kurt did too. Mindy was injured and everyone was just trying to make it out. Next time, we should jump him. He can't get all of us." Iz looked at me and said "you think so?" I nodded and said "yeah. He can't kill a whole bunch of us. Especially if we all jump him. Then we can unmask him and get to the bottom of all this shit." Gale wandered around the room and seemed to break as she looked at pictures of her ex husband, Dewey. Lacey approached me and said "hey, I think I'm gonna go home and take a shower. Ethan said he was going to come with me." I looked at the group and said "did you tell anyone else?" "I told Kirby. She said she has some plan to catch Ghostface. Are you going to stay here?" "For now. I might go back to the apartment soon. Will you be there?" Lacey nodded and said "I should be." Ethan stood next to her, his eyes going around the room. "Stay with her." I told Ethan. His eyes flickered to me and he nodded. "I will. I'm not letting her out of my sight." Ethan said. I sighed and said "text me if anything goes down." Lacey half smiled and said "I will. Be careful." Her and Ethan left much to Mindy's dismay. Chad told her he'd go check on them in an hour. Iz and I would be doing the same as Ethan and Lacey but later.

The end is wack and this should've been up days ago and WATTPAD NEEDS TO FIX THE MEDIA/GIF SITUATION ITS DISGUSTING!!!
