The Professor had been alerted to Rogue's disappearance in seconds, and the team had grouped together, watching Xavier wheel toward a large steel door.

"What are we doing? Why aren't we looking for her?" Logan grumbles

"We are,"

A vertical beam scans across Xavier's eyes and forehead, there's a small beep and then a loud knock, the vault door opens and a male voice chimes through the room.

"Welcome Professor,"

Charles and Logan enter, the rest of the team hanging back, Sam is still in her pyjamas, now however she has one of Jean's cardigans wrapped around her, hands in pockets.

"Welcome to Cerebro," Logan looks at Xavier, perhaps even a little impressed

"Well, this certainly is a big, round room," Sam snorts quietly in the background

"The brainwaves of mutants are different from average human beings. This device amplifies my power, allowing me to locate mutants over great distances. - It's how I followed Sabretooth to you,"

"Why don't you just use it to find Magneto?"

"I've been trying... But he seems to have found a way to shield himself from it,"

"How would he know how to do that?"

"Because he helped me build it," Charles says simply and Logan's eyebrows nearly shoot to the ceiling "Now, if you'll excuse me," he approaches the controls in the centre of the room, Jean helps him set it up whilst Logan leaves, standing by Sam.

"You okay?" he asks lowly and she nods, it was easier to block out everything when she had a purpose, and finding Rogue was it.

Jean joins the group once again and the doors to Cerebro shut "Have you ever -?" Logan asks, turning to her

"Used Cerebro? No. It takes a degree of control, and uh, for someone like me it's..."

"Dangerous," Scott finishes and Logan looks at Sam, a question hanging in the air, she softly shakes her head.

"My mutation doesn't involve brain waves...it's something else," she shrugs "We don't know what would happen if I tried to use it. Considering I can barely handle the kid's emotions as well -"

"Hey," Jean interrupts "You'll get there," Sam scoffs, not believing the woman for a minute.

The redhead goes to speak again, but the steel doors open again and The Professor appears "She's at the train station,"

"Where is it?"

"A few miles west of here,"

"I'll go,"

"Logan, you can't leave the mansion, it's just the opportunity Magneto needs,"

"Listen, I'm the reason she took off,"

"We had a deal," Logan says nothing. He knows he's right.

"She's alright," Storm shrugs "She's just upset,"

"No," Sam shakes her head, "there was something else last night I felt it. I'll go,"

"Absolutely not," The Professor says strictly, Sam's head snaps to him

"What?!"

"You have been in isolation all day, you've not recovered enough to go outside,"

"I know my own powers, Charles," Sam says disbelievingly "She's just a kid, I wanna help,"

"Storm, Cyclops, go see if you can talk to her," Xavier ignores Sam's offended expression and starts to leave, Storm looks apologetically at Sam before following, the others slowly taking suit.

Sam rolls her eyes and can feel Logan's shared irritation, they glance at each other, and Sam nods, a silent agreement.

Maybe crawling into the boot of Storm's car wasn't the best idea, but it certainly was an idea.

The car journey was quick, and when they stopped, Sam opened up the trunk, hearing footsteps come around the back.

"Sam," Scott groans.

"What?"

"The professor told you to stay put,"

"Keen observation," Sam hops off onto the ground and winces, she'd thrown on a pair of jeans and boots before leaving and was 80% sure her shoes were on the wrong feet. Scott sighs and Storm massages her forehead.

"You stay with me," the blonde orders and Sam nods, following her into the station, outside, Scott's bike is parked on the pavement, and Samantha smirks.

Whilst Scott joins a queue to look at the arrivals board, Storm speaks to a Ticketmaster, Sam is sat on a bench nearby, trying to find Rogue's psyche. She's stopped by a sudden rage pulsing through her. It wasn't Logan, but it felt like him, the same signature splattered across the blood rushing through Sam's body.

Her eyes snap open, finding Storm pinned up against a wall, Sabertooth choking her.

"Shit!" she stands, running forward as Sabretooth slams her against the glass of the ticket counters, it cracking with the impact. The pedestrian's fear hits Sam like a stab wound, pricking every surface of skin. She bites her lip, pushing through and getting to Storm, she grabs Sabertooth's exposed forearm just as there's a large scream, and Scott's visor falls off, harsh red light shooting into the ceiling, debris dropping to the floor.

More panic.

More pain.

It courses through Sam, but she keeps her attention on Sabertooth who laughs.

"Silly gi-" he's cut off by himself, gasping for breath. He's still choking Storm, but is faltering, allowing her eyes to flicker white.

Everything Sam felt disappeared, the anxiety that had started to swirl in her stomach gone.

Sabertooth feels it now, his eyes widening, his chest tight as he huffs through his nose.

"Never had a panic attack before?" Sam taunts, she feels her eyes close, exhausted just as a huge bolt of lightning shoots from the ceiling down between their bodies. Storm falls as the glass of the ticket counters shatters all over her. Sabretooth flies back through the air, as does Sam, through a window and onto a car outside.

Her eyes flicker shut to the sound of the car alarm going off.

She isn't sure how long it is until she gains consciousness again, but she feels herself lifted by a pair of strong arms, she can't quite figure out who it is, but he kisses her temple, cradling her head to his chest.

"Logan?".
