A philosophical, satirical, historical fiction taking place during the early stages of the American Revolution.This hysterical, absurd story takes place in Boston 1769, hostility between the American Colonies and Britain is heating up. Our main character is named Eli, a boot-maker's apprentice to the legendary boot-maker The Great Sir Mr. Finley Figgins The Third Sir. Eli is the normal average everyday Bostonian man. He goes to work everyday, has a girlfriend and some friends but finds himself a minority in Boston when it comes to America's push for independence. He actually enjoys the British. He loves their tea and food. He feels as if the streets are safer with British soldiers patrolling the streets. He does not want America to be independent from British rule. As America's push for independence seems to be a greater reality, Eli takes matters into his own hands. He infiltrates the Sons of Liberty, attempts to sabotage their plans constantly. Becomes arch enemies with Samuel Adams and much, much more absurdity occurs in this ridiculous satirical story loosely based on real historical facts. Battles, fighting, action, romance, adventure! And of course, lots of comedy and humor. As I lived my life I have encountered many interesting characters, like we all have, and in this dramatic tale I discuss several of those individuals that I came across that I found most compelling. The characters and events in this book are based on true happenings. Each chapter is the story of one particular character. Each character displayed their greatness, but also displayed their flaws. They are anti-heroes, like us all. I wanted to write about them because they impacted my life in a way I can't truly describe, they have made their place in my memory bank. They were unconventional, peculiar, and capricious. They were human, all too human.I hope those of you that take the time to read this will develop and share a love and fondness for these tragic and beautiful characters that I became fond of. Beneath The Willow Tree is a semi-autobiographical humorous story. One man's myth to discover the purpose of life, or at least his life. It is the modern myth for modern society. Similar to the tale of Ulysses by James Joyce in regards to the loose story structure and the modern myth. The main character is dealing with existential crises, and attempting to find meaning in a modern society that deems the individual meaningless. This tale is one of the human experience, all genres included. Our main characters deals with the same issues that plague many of us today: who in fact are we, what is our purpose (if there is one), how to be an individual in a society that attempts to form us all into faceless statistical masses that are considered valuable as only functionary units to the state. The troubled character encounters and recounts an array of events, stories, characters he has met, and lets you inside his internal dialogue and the thoughts that perplex and interest him.
